Morrissey axes shows after 'severe sinusitis attack'
Morrissey has axed two shows after he was hospitalised to treat a "severe sinusitis attack".
The veteran singer is currently touring North America, but he was force to call off a stop at the Civic Theatre in San Diego, California on May 1 and a second concert in Rancho Mirage, California on May 3 after falling ill and being admitted to hospital.
A statement posted on his website reads: "Following the show at The Fox in Bakersfield, Morrissey contracted a severe sinusitis attack and was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego."
The message confirmed the tour will continue at the Tucson Centennial Hall in Arizona on Monday (05.05.25) and the axed gigs have been rescheduled.
It added: " Missed shows at Rancho Mirage and San Diego are not cancelled and now have new dates. Morrissey, the band and crew, are very appreciative of those who convey understanding at difficult moments during tours."
Morrissey's US tour is to continue throughout May before heading across the Atlantic at the end of the month for a show in Dublin, Ireland on May 31st.
He will then perform two nights at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on June 4 and 5, before wrapping the run with a gig in his native Manchester at the Co-Op Live on June 7 and heading to Europe for concerts in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Austria among others before concluding in Italy in August.
Meanwhile, Morrissey previously revealed that he was locked in a battle with Capitol Records over the release of his album 'Bonfire of Teenagers'.
He explained the label would return the album to him "for a certain price" as they hadn't released it.
The singer told 'Good Day New York': "This album was recorded in January 2021 and Capitol signed it and didn't release it, but they're now prepared to give it back to me for a certain price.
'It's been quite traumatic and quite sad because when you record something, you want it to be available immediately and it was very much of the time. For me, it was a very personal thing and the fact that it hasn't been released has been torture."
The album - which was scheduled for release in February 2023 - reportedly featured production from Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne and Andrew Watt, along with collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Flea, and Iggy Pop.
The controversial musician later revealed Miley would no longer appear on the track 'I Am Veronica' but insisted that her reasons for pulling out were unrelated to him.
In April 2024, Morrissey claimed he regained the rights to 'Bonfire of Teenagers' and 2014 LP 'World Peace Is None of Your Business'.

Pre-recording the show means a smaller production team in South Africa as a post-production crew will not be required. When the show is live, crew will work on a 24-hour turnaround with live hostings beamed from location. INSIDE MEDIA understands the crew is not happy about the changes as the schedule does not allow for any days off, meaning they will be working to a gruelling production timeline. Previously, most crew would get weekends off when the show was not airing. Earlier this year, it was revealed Channel 10 show three different endings ahead of the IAC finale. This allowed crew to head home a few days early, saving on accommodation and crew costs. Once Sam Thaiday was chosen as the winner by the public, 10 aired that version. Next year, it must be assumed that public voting will play no part in deciding the winner. The LIVE factor has always been a key part of IAC and will sorely be missed in the 2026 edition of the show, although INSIDE MEDIA understands the show will still be filmed in South Africa. Channel 10 has been contacted for comment. In 2023, Network 10 recorded a $322.1 million loss in the 12 months to December 31 (no financials are available after this date as yet). With declining ratings and revenue, there's no doubt the network is looking for cost savings across the board and going LIVE is an added expense those in control obviously believe they can live without. Don't get Elton John angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry. It's a lesson the UK Government is learning after the iconic singer went on the attack over plans to exempt technology firms from copyright laws. 'I think the government are just being absolute losers, and I'm very angry about it' Elton John told the BBC (you can see his interview in the video player above). His comments come after the UK Government rejected proposals from the House of Lords to force AI companies to disclose what material they were using to develop their programmes. The bill would have added transparency requirements to existing legislation, ensuring copyright holders have to give permission for their work to be used. 'The fact that AI could run rampant without (permission), you have to ask for approval and you have to have transparency. It's quite simple. And it looks like Sir Elton is ready to fight the government on this one. 'We'll fight all the way. I mean, if it takes going to the court or whatever, we will fight this,' he said. It's a specialised craft that AI will find hard to replicate. Yes, AI can say the words, but only a human artist can interpret the meaning and follow direction to enhance what it says on the page. I believe AI plays an important role – I just also happen to believe that the companies that will make a lot of money from these products shouldn't be able to steal from others to achieve those goals. Bruce Springsteen release new live EP from Manchester with anti-Donald Trump speeches
Bruce Springsteen has released a new live EP 'Land of Hope and Dreams' featuring his anti-Donald Trump speeches. The 'Born To Run' legend has completed a three show run at the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester on May 14, 17 and 20, and now he's made four songs available digitally along with the introductions from the concerts. The listing on his official website reads: "On May 14, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band opened their Land of Hope and Dreams Tour in Manchester, England. "Highlights from that first night are now available digitally as the 'Land of Hope and Dreams' EP – including the title track, 'Long Walk Home,' 'My City of Ruins' and the band's cover of Bob Dylan's 'Chimes of Freedom.' " At one point during the concert, he described Trump's administration as "corrupt, incompetent and treasonous". He told the audience: "In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration. "Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!' The rocker – who has been a staunch critic of Trump – made another attack on the White House chief and his political ideology as he introduced 'City of Ruin'. He said: "There's some very weird, strange and dangerous s*** going on out there right now. In America they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now. "In America the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world's poorest children to sickness and death. This is happening now. They're rolling back historic civil rights legislation that has led to a more just and plural society. Trump responded with a lengthy rant via the social media platform Truth Social. Describing The Boss as "dumb as a rock", he wrote: "This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that's just 'standard fare'. Chris Brown released on £5 million bail
Chris Brown has been released on bail by a London court after being charged over an alleged "unprovoked attack". The 36-year-old musician - who has not been asked to enter a plea yet in the case - has been ordered to pay a £5 million security fee to Southwark Crown Court after Wednesday's (21.05.25) bail hearing, which he was not present for. Judge Tony Baumgartner confirmed the singer will be allowed to continue his world tour, with dates in the UK in June and July. The security fee - with £4 million paid immediately, and £1 million due in seven days - is a financial guarantee to ensure he returns to court. If Brown breaches bail conditions, he could be asked to forfeit the money. The 'Run It' hitmaker is scheduled to appear in court on June 20, which falls between gigs at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, and London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. As laid out by the judge, the conditions of his bail means he must surrender his passport when he's not travelling on tour. He must also live at a specific dress provided to the court, while also not applying for travel documents, contacting the alleged victim, or visiting the Tape nightclub. He was arrested in the early hours of May 15 at Manchester's Lowry Hotel, after flying in for his 'Breezy Bowl XX' tour. He was initially refused bail the following day, and was held in custody. He has been accused of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abraham Diaw by allegedly attacking him with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023. He and his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu - who performs as HoodyBaby - are set to appear in court next month. Brown's tour starts on June 8 in Amsterdam, followed by 10 UK dates including Manchester's Co-op Live arena on June 15, plus gigs in Birminigham and Glasgow.
