BTK organising chairman Casey Jovial said the recognition reflects not only the event's longevity but its growing cultural significance and formal endorsement at the state level.
Advertisement Speaking during the official registration of 49 contestants representing districts, sub-districts, and KDCA branches for the 2025 crown, he reminded participants they had already proven themselves as top cultural ambassadors for their communities. He emphasised that BTK is not just a stage competition but a cultural platform to revive the traditional roles of Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) men as brave, responsible leaders rooted in heritage. According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) on Monday (June 2), countries including China, Thailand and Singapore have recently reported a notable increase in Covid-19 cases. While the situation in Korea remains relatively stable, the agency warned that a summer resurgence is possible due to international travel and regional outbreaks. The NB.1.8.1 variant — now dominant in the affected countries — is known for its strong transmissibility and immune-evasive properties, although its severity and fatality rate remain relatively low. The KDCA is advising high-risk travelers to these countries to get vaccinated before departure. He is slated to perform in Macao for three concerts starting June 7. Asked whether shows in Southeast Asia might be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, his agency Galaxy Corporation told The Korea Herald, 'We don't know at this point.' G-Dragon recently called off his "G-Dragon Media Exhibition: Ubermensch" in Shanghai, which was originally scheduled to run from May 30 to June 22. While the agency cited 'unforeseen circumstances beyond our control' as the reason for the cancellation, the uptick in COVID-19 cases in China is widely suspected as a contributing factor. Babymonster, also on an Asia tour, wrapped up its 'Hello Monsters' concerts in Singapore and Hong Kong in May and is preparing for its final Southeast Asian stop in Bangkok from June 7-8. YG Entertainment confirmed it has no plans to postpone or cancel the shows. 'We're monitoring the situation closely, but the outbreak is limited to certain regions. Everything is proceeding as planned,' a YG official told The Korea Herald on Wednesday. Le Sserafim is scheduled to perform in Taiwan and Hong Kong in July, followed by concerts in the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore in August as part of its 'Easy Crazy Hot' world tour. Source Music's parent company, Hybe, also confirmed that all shows will proceed as scheduled. JYP Entertainment's acts — Niziu, Nmixx and Xdinary Heroes — are also expected to hold small-scale performances in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, respectively, in the second half of the year, with no changes announced. An industry official noted that unless governments issue specific warnings or event restrictions, K-pop agencies are unlikely to take unilateral action regarding concert postponements. 'There aren't any government guidelines like we saw during the height of the pandemic, so it's hard for companies to take preemptive action on their own,' one agency source said. Dutch museum rolls out 200-year-old condom

The ancient contraceptive is probably made from a sheep's appendix and may be a souvenir from a brothel -- of which only two known copies exist, the museum said in a statement. "It shows that printmaking had many applications and offers insight into sexuality and prostitution in the 19th century," according to the museum. The museum said it would display the sheath as part of an exhibit on 19th century prostitution and sexuality. The print on the condom shows a nun lifting up her skirt and pointing her finger at three clergymen, who also have their genitals on full display. "It embodies both the lighter and darker sides of sexual health," said the museum. The Rijksmuseum noted the condom came from an era where sex was "fraught with fears of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases -- especially syphilis." The print room at the museum holds some 750,000 prints and drawings. Malaysia's K-pop princess Lingling saddles up for a fierce debut

Malaysia's first female K-pop idol Alicia Wong Lingling has finally made her industry debut recently, with the release of her group KIIRAS' first single. On May 29, its agency Leanbranding officially released the music video for Kill Ma Bo$$, which is currently racking up 262,151 views and over 28,000 likes on YouTube. It has also received positive reviews for its fresh Americana and Country R&B concept, riding at the back of the popular musical trend. With an overdriven guitar line at the background, the song is a fierce, playful anthem about taking control, breaking free from authority, and owning one's power with confidence, charm, and a rebellious killer attitude. Taking centre stage was none other than group leader Lingling, donning a denim vest, cowboy hat and riding a horse. She radiates youthful charm and lively energy, while alongside her, KIIRAS members captivate viewers with dynamic choreography and colourful styling. A promotional video was uploaded weeks prior, which featured singer-actor Eum Moon-suk and Seo In-guk, whom K-drama fans might recognise from Death's Game (2023) or the South Korean reality-documentary show Law of the Jungle. The official teaser for the music video was released shortly after, further building anticipation ahead of the full release. The music video was supposed to be a pre-release, but it changed to a debut, and it continues to gain views and spark conversations on social media, as fans eagerly await what's next for this newly formed six-member girl group.
