Nebraska make top list for four-star Missouri athlete

Yahoo24-05-2025

Nebraska football made the top seven this week for 2027 four-star athlete Jacob Eberhart. He made the announcement on social media.
Eberhart is the 211th overall player nationally, the fourth overall player in the state of Missouri, and the sixth overall player at his position per Rivals rankings. Alabama, Illinois, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Oregon also made his top group in addition to Nebraska.

On the Nebraska front, he has taken one unofficial visit to Lincoln. That came on November 2. Since then, he has also taken visits to Ohio State, Miami, and USC.
Currently, the 2026 Nebraska football recruiting class has four commitments overall. That puts them 57th overall in the country per Rivals rankings. Jase Reynolds was the most recent commitment for the program, doing so at the beginning of May.
Eberhart is certainly an intriguing prospect, as he can play both sides of the football. He measures six feet one inch, weighs 210 pounds, and can play at a high level at the safety position. The Nebraska coaching staff seems to like versatile athletes, and Eberthart would give them a player to develop and work with.

Tuesdays with Gorney: Ten biggest pledges from the weekend

Jeff McCulloch/ There were 33 Power Four commitments on Saturday and Sunday as the wildly busy month of June kicked off, with many more trickling in Monday as players returned home from visits. Advertisement In today's Tuesdays With Gorney, Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney highlights 10 of the most important pledges over the weekend. RECRUITING RUMOR MILL: June kicks off with a bang | Baltimore | Detroit NEW RIVALS250 RELEASED: Ranking | Top storylines | Ten prospects who could rise with a big June CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info MATAALI BENJAMIN - Minnesota Only a few months ago at the Rivals Camp Series stop in Los Angeles, Benjamin had Arkansas, Nebraska and Utah as his three front-runners with Oklahoma State also in the mix. Nary a word was mentioned about Minnesota. Advertisement But the Golden Gophers do great with players like Benjamin – huge offensive linemen who can use some tweaking and some weight on them to become even better players. At 6-foot-8 and 314 pounds, the three-star offensive lineman from Lehi (Utah) Skyridge is filled with potential that could be tapped within the Minnesota program. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MINNESOTA FANS AT G'NIVRE CARR - Florida A few weeks ago at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, Carr told Rivals national recruiting analyst John Garcia Jr. that he wanted to take his recruitment to December and that he wasn't in a rush to make a decision. Advertisement Over the weekend, he committed to Florida on his opening official visit of the month as the Gators beat out Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Colorado and many others. It could get interesting if Carr decides to take his other trips but the Gators landed a powerful interior offensive lineman who will help in Gainesville. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH FLORIDA FANS AT 1ST AND TEN FLORIDA GAVIN DAY - Washington A few months ago, USC had become a contender for Day after it offered the four-star safety from Las Vegas (Nev.) Faith Lutheran. Arizona, Iowa, Texas A&M and many others were involved but Washington emerged as the main contender prior to his visit. Advertisement There was some chatter that if things went well in Seattle, he would commit and that's exactly what happened. Day could be one of the next big defensive backs in a long line that have played for the Huskies. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH WASHINGTON FANS AT TYLER DUELL - Rutgers The Pennsylvania state rankings are loaded at the top with elite offensive linemen but Duell should not be overlooked as the four-star from West Chester (Pa.) West Chester East committed to Rutgers over Cincinnati, Kentucky, Pittsburgh and others over the weekend. At 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, Duell can push people around and he also has great athleticism to get to the second level. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH RUTGERS FANS AT ELISHA FAAMATUANIU - Cal Arizona State was a major early contender but Cal continued to pursue the Murrieta (Calif.) Murrieta Valley high three-star offensive lineman and his connection to position coach Famika Anae was a big selling point in his weekend commitment to the Golden Bears. Faamatuaniu stepped up his game in a big way at the recent Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles and he has position versatility so he can be used all over in Berkeley. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH CAL FANS AT DOMINIC HARRIS - Washington Fresh off a visit to Auburn that went really well and with Oregon, Arizona and UNLV making a serious push for the versatile high three-star offensive tackle from Las Vegas (Nev.) Clark, Harris committed to Washington during his weekend trip. Advertisement The Huskies were always in the forefront of his recruitment but it was expected he might take more visits before deciding. Harris is massive at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds, but it wouldn't be a shock if he played inside. CARTER LUCKIE - Georgia His brother, Lawson, plays at Georgia. His father and two uncles played for Georgia. It always felt inevitable that the four-star defensive end from Norcross, Ga., would end up playing for the Bulldogs and his commitment happened over the weekend on yet another trip to Athens. Luckie was just on campus for the recent Scavenger Hunt and his relationship with position coach Tray Scott was big as well. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT DANIEL MCMORRIS - Minnesota Despite being from Norman (Okla.) North, Oklahoma never offered McMorris as the long-time Minnesota lean picked the Golden Gophers over Oregon State, Tulsa, Kansas State and Iowa State over the weekend. There are some traits here that we love as McMorris is 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds so he's not completely filled out yet, plus he has really long arms. All that should bode well in the coming years. TYRELL SIMPSON - Rutgers His father played at Maryland and his brother went to Duke but neither program ended up offering the high three-star offensive lineman from Leland (N.C.) North Brunswick. That is to Rutgers' gain as his relationship with the coaching staff there played a huge role in his commitment as the Scarlet Knights loaded up over the weekend with six pledges. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH RUTGERS FANS AT PRINCE TAVIZON - Oregon A couple weeks ago at the Long Beach Millikan Tournament of Champions, Tavizon was not hiding his favorites: Oregon was the front-runner and the Ducks would be tough to beat and then there was also serious interest in USC. But the 2027 four-star from San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln was always leaning toward the Ducks and on his weekend visit, he committed. As an edge rusher or a linebacker, Tavizon brings a ton of versatility to that defense. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT

Cowboys may use $136 million asset less, gain more from 4x Pro Bowler in 2025

Cowboys may use $136 million asset less, gain more from 4x Pro Bowler in 2025 The Cowboys didn't need a wideout at the time, but when CeeDee Lamb fell into their laps in the 2020 draft, it may have been the wisest move in recent team history that they grabbed him. Dallas was all but set to take LSU edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson with their first-round pick that offseason; the idea of one of the draft's top-three wideouts making to them seemed far-fetched. But not only did one fall, both parts of the Alabama duo ofHenry Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy somehow went ahead of him. When Ruggs' name was called to the Raiders at No. 13, the Cowboys fanbase saw the writing on the wall. The Tampa Bay Bucs at No. 14 already had Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and weren't candidates to take a WR. The San Francisco 49ers had struck gold the year earlier with second-round pick Deebo Samuel and weren't likely to take a WR either. It was when the Denver Broncos took Jeudy instead of Lamb at No. 15 that things really got interesting because Atlanta, sitting at No. 16, had Pro Bowler Julio Jones and had spent a first rounder on Calvin Ridley a year earlier. All of those things played out exactly how they needed to for the Cowboys to end up with Lamb. Rundown Position: Wide Receiver Age: 26 Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 200 pounds Hometown: New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX High School: Foster High (Richmond, TX) College: University of Oklahoma (Highlight Video) Draft: 2020, First-round pick No. 17 Acquired: 2020 Draft Contract: Four-year extension (2024), $136 million includes signing bonus of $38 million 2025 Base Salary: $1.85 million (guaranteed) | $1M in roster bonuses guaranteed) | Cap Hit: $15.3M Career Earnings: $53.1 million (per Over The Cap) Profile Lamb's talent has been undeniable as he's ascended from WR2, compliment to Amari Cooper, to WR1 to All-Pro and in the conversation for best wideout in the league. What had been questioned, his toughness and leadership, were answered in the lost season of 2024, where despite a down year for the club and losing his starting QB Dak Prescott to injury midway through the year, he powered through a badly-injured shoulder week after week. Lamb's calling card is his run-after-the-catch ability, he's a threat to score on any route that has him working across the field or vertically. He's seen at least 150 targets each of the last three years, has accrued at least 1,000 receiving yards each of the last four years, all Pro Bowl campaigns. He was a First-Team All-Pro in 2023 when he led the league in receptions with 135 and averaged almost 103 yards a game. he also finished third in Offensive Player of the Year voting. After not having a true compliment in 2024, the Cowboys front office went out and got him his own "him", adding George Pickens from Pittsburgh to be a dynamic deep threat and return the club to the days of dual-WR1 like they had in 2021 and 2022. Lamb's targets might decrease slightly, but his numbers should rise as there's no way he sees the same amount of double teams he has the last two seasons.
