But despite Sarina Wiegman's side's impressive performance that saw them battle from being 1-0 down in the first half to fighting back through an Alessia Russo equaliser and much-improved penalties, Spain's media think England "robbed" La Roja in Basel.
And there are reports of Spain players allegedly labeling England as "time wasters".
Spanish outlet Diario AS fired a shot atwinning penalty taker Chloe Kelly and her "cocky" gesture after her spot kick, which saw her coolly point a finger at the crowd.
The Spanish outlet wrote: "This is unnecessary, my friend: Kelly's cocky gesture to [goalkeeper] Cata Coll after scoring the decisive penalty.

"The England specialist changed her run during her penalty celebration to get past the goalkeeper she had just beaten."
In their match report, the outlet said: "The dream ends in a nightmare.
"Spain lost the European Championship on penalties. England tied a match that Spain largely dominated.

"History is made by victories, and also by defeats. Spain fell in the Euro Cup final but left its name sealed in gold.
"England robbed them of their dream; the world champions couldn't close the circle they began to write two years ago in Sydney.

"They couldn't have been crueler in the penalty shootout, tossing a few dice in the air."
2023 World Cup winners Spain's players labelled England as "lucky" in their post-match interviews.
Captain Irene Paredes told Spanish TV RTVE: "I don't really know what to say. It's a very hard moment.
"We tried everything, all the different ways, and then the penalties didn't go our way. I thought we deserved it more but in the end it is not about who deserves it.
"It is about having that bit of luck and England had that throughout the whole tournament. We thought we could overcome that but we weren't able to.
"I think we had more control of the game than they did, we created more clear chances, we had more possession… But yeah, nothing else."
Meanwhile, two-time reigning Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati thought her side were "far superior".
Bonmati, who missed her penalty in the shoot out, told Spainsh outlet El Pais: "I think we've all given up. It's been a long time here, and it's been very cruel.
"In terms of play, we were far superior to our opponents, but in football, that's not enough."
She added: "To be a winning team in a tournament like this, you have to have some luck, and they had plenty of luck.
"We know how to do it better when it comes to penalties."
El Pais claim that Paredes later labelled England as "time-wasters" and "players on the ground" in comments to reporters in the mixed zone of the St Jakob-Park in Basel.
England were leading in just four minutes of all of their knockout games but defied all odds to go back-to-back.
Mariona Caldentey's first half header was cancelled out by Alessia Russo in the 57th minute, with the score locked all the way to the end of extra time.
England's Hannah Hampton - who has done a remarkable job of stepping into ex-Lionesses goalkeeper Mary Earp's shoes following her retirement - saved two of Spain's penalties, including Bonmati's.
Euro 2022 winning goalscorer Kelly hammered her spot kick into the top left hand corner to avenge her side's World Cup 2023 defeat to Spain and seal victory for her country.

Sunderland head coach wants 'supporter boost' after Euros

The head coach of Sunderland Women said she was hopeful that the success of the Lionesses will create a "ripple effect" for more fans to support local women's secured a historic back to back European Championship win after beating Spain on penalties in Basel on the 27 July. Mel Reay, who has been head coach at Sunderland since 2017, said the win was "massive" and hoped it would help domestic games "especially with attendances".The Women's Championship gets under way in September with Sunderland set to play five matches at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland and Newcastle both broke attendance records for Women's Championship games last season. In October 2024, 15,387 fans watched Newcastle win 2-1 at the Stadium of Light and in March 38,502 supporters watched the reverse leg of the Tyne-Wear derby at St James' Park. Reay said: "We've got great support here in the North East but we'd love to see stadiums full on games that aren't just the derbies."These girls are professional players and they deserve a big audience, there's also nothing worse than playing in a 40,000 seat stadium and there's only one thousand fans." A change in the format of the Women's Super League means three teams can now achieve promotion from the championship. "People might have wanted the rule change to come in a bit quicker but it will be exciting to see how the league changes help the game grow," Reay of the winning Lioness squad played for Sunderland during their careers - Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead. Reay coached Mead during her time on Wearside was "delighted" to see her former player pick up another European Championship medal. "We always knew she (Mead) had something about her, she loves scoring goals, her roots are red and white and everyone is so proud of her." Arsenal transfer news: Why Gunners snubbed Benjamin Sesko as Thomas Partey finds new club

Arsenal are gearing up for their Premier League opener against Manchester United in less than a fortnight but Mikel Arteta's much-changed squad continues to be linked for with new additions Arsenal stars are sharpening their tools as the new season appears on the horizon with a fortnight to go before their Premier League campaign begins with a trip to Manchester United. ‌ But the Gunners continue to be linked with a deal for Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze following a hectic summer in north London. That, however, may require a number of players to exit the club and reports suggest five different members of the first-team squad could potentially move on. ‌ Thomas Partey has already left as a free agent but is now set to sign a new deal in Spain. ‌ Here are the transfer tales from in and around the Emirates to keep an eye on. Partey new club Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is due to join Villarreal this summer after his contract at the Emirates expired, leaving him free to seek pastures new. Partey was keen to remain in the Champions League and that was a major factor in him choosing Villarreal, who finished fifth in Spain last term. The midfielder had been linked with moves to clubs in Europe and the Middle East throughout the season. The Athletic reported that the ex-Atletico man was in talks over staying at the Emirates but an agreement could not be reached on the terms of a deal despite the two parties trying until late in the day. Mikel Arteta could bid farewell to five of his squad before the close of the transfer window, according to the Daily Mail. ‌ Reiss Nelson is the most likely to head off amid admiring glances from Fulham and his departure would see the Gunners' wage bill trimmed by £100,000 per week. Oleksandr Zinchenko, who earns £150,000, is also for sale, while Fabio Vieira is far down the pecking order but has garnered some interest from West Ham and Albert Sambi Lokonga is another allowed to leave. Then there is Leandro Trossard, whom Arsenal want to sign a new contract but is on a shortlist of targets at Borussia Dortmund. Sesko concerns Arsenal heard "alarm bells" when deciding whether to pursue a move for Benjamin Sesko earlier this summer, according to an ESPN report. After engaging in preliminary talks with the Bundesliga outfit, Arsenal chiefs soon found that any deal for the promising forward would be too expensive for a player who has yet to realise his full potential. The story reported that there were three main reasons for a deal for Sesko setting off "alarm bells" including the mammoth fee Leipzig were requesting as well as his own personal terms. Having only had two seasons in a European top-five league - where he scored 21 goals across all competitions last season - sources said the club were wary about the mental demands Sesko would have to endure of being the player leading the Arsenal attack and whether he'd be able to handle the scrutiny.

Man Utd transfer news: Benjamin Sesko 'alarm bells' amid Rasmus Hojlund swap proposal

Manchester United's pre-season tour of the US has drawn to a close but there is no end in sight to the speculation surrounding Ruben Amorim's squad in the transfer window Manchester United remain engaged in a tug of war with Newcastle United over their attempts to sign striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig - with the Toon submitting a bid to sign the Slovenia international amid fears that they will lose Alexander Isak to Liverpool. ‌ But United remain in the race with Newcatle's opening submission some way short of Leipzig's asking price. An offer exceeding £70m is set to be required for Sesko to depart the Bundesliga side. ‌ Ruben Amorim's team wrapped up their tour of the United States on Sunday night against Everton with new signing Bryan Mbeumo handed his debut. ‌ Here are the transfer tales worth keeping an eye on as the new season appears on the horizon. Garnacho feelings Ruben Amorim said he has no hard feelings over Alejandro Garnacho 's desire to leave Old Trafford for a new challenge. Winger Garnacho fell out with Amorim after he was dropped for the Europa League final, which United lost 1-0 to Tottenham in Bilbao. In the immediate aftermath of the defeat, Garnacho criticised Amorim's decision and said he would consider his future over the summer. Amorim responded by telling £40million-rated Garnacho he was not part of his future plans and left him off United's US tour, with several other players who want out of the club. "I think with Garnacho, you can understand and you can see that he's talented, he's a really talented boy,' said Amorim. "But sometimes things don't work out and you cannot explain specifically what it is." ‌ Sesko concerns Arsenal heard "alarm bells" when deciding whether to pursue a move for Benjamin Sesko earlier this summer, according to an ESPN report. ‌ Having only had two seasons in a European top-five league - where he scored 21 goals across all competitions last season - sources said the club were wary about the mental demands Sesko would have to endure of being the player leading the Arsenal attack and whether he'd be able to handle the scrutiny. Cut-price Rasmus Manchester United have opened the door to selling Rasmus Hojlund this summer and have set an asking price of £30million for their striker. United are pursuing a new forward, with RB Leipzig's £70m-rated Benjamin Sesko their top target, although they face competition from Newcastle for his signature. Hojlund could go the other way to Leipzig, as part of a player-plus-cash swap deal with Sesko, but the Denmark international is understood to not want to go to the Bundesliga club. Last season Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta for £72m in 2023, scored 10 goals in all competitions and just four in the Premier League, underlining the need for a more prolific striker to lead their attack.
