Online Illinois Lottery player wins $1.3M in FastPlay game

CBS News14 hours ago

An online Illinois Lottery player has big plans for his family after winning $1.3 million in a FastPlay game.
The winner, nicknamed King of the Castle, says he only plays games for fun, but after some challenging times, he took a chance one day.
"I was thinking about my family—we've been going through some challenging times. I took a chance on Cash Castle, and couldn't believe it when I actually hit the jackpot. This win truly came at the perfect time."
He said he screamed for his wife after realizing he won the prize.
"I was overwhelmed with emotion and crying tears of joy. This win still feels unreal, like a dream. It really is a beautiful shock."
Lottery officials said the win is the second-largest Cash Castle jackpot prize won, following a $1.4 million jackpot win in April.
The winner said he plans on taking his family on a dream vacation.
"We've always wanted to take our family to Walt Disney World, but we've never been able to fit it into our budget. Now is the perfect time! We can't wait to treat our five kids and eight grandkids to their first Disney World vacation."
Cash Castle is a $30 progressive jackpot FastPlay game. The jackpot begins at $100,000 and grows with each ticket sold statewide until the jackpot is won.
FastPlay games require no numbers to pick, pay slips, scratching, or waiting for numbers. Tickets for the game can be purchased in-store, online, or on the Illinois Lottery app.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Dakota Johnson Goes Sheer in Long-sleeve Nensi Dojaka Midi Dress and Bodysuit While Promoting ‘Materialists' on ‘Seth Meyers'

Dakota Johnson made her latest stop on her 'Materialists' promotional tour on Thursday in New York City with an appearance on 'The Late Show With Seth Meyers.' The actress costars in the film alongside Chris Evan and Pedro Pascal. For her late-night talk show appearance, Johnson opted for the sheer trend, styling a long-sleeve midi dress courtesy of Nensi Dojaka. The actress wore the sheer piece with a fitted silhouette and exposed seams throughout. Beneath her sheer dress, Johnson added a brown, strapless bodysuit with a formfitting design. She completed the ensemble with a pair of black Saint Laurent Raven slingback pointed-toe pumps. When it came to her glam, Johnson's hair was styled straight and worn down, cascading past her shoulders, with fringe to frame her face by stylist Mark Townsend. Her makeup included such elements as bold brows, lined eyes and a glossy lip courtesy of artist Georgie Eisdell. Johnson's look was curated by Kate Young, who WWD named Best Stylist at the 2025 WWD Style Awards. Young recently styled Johnson in another sheer look for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. While attending the Kering and Cannes Film Festival Official Dinner on May 18, Johnson wore an allover shimmering sleeveless dress by Gucci, with jewelry courtesy of Boucheron. Johnson is just one of Young's high-profile clients. The stylist also collaborates with Michelle Williams and Julianne Moore. In an interview with Young from January, the stylist explained the rapid change she's seen in the fashion and entertainment industries and how the two have become inextricably linked. 'People didn't even have a stylist. I think a lot of people bought a dress to go to the Globes, or maybe their costume designer did it,' she said. 'Celebrities and designers form alliances in a way they didn't used to. They might have met and become friends in the past, but now people align themselves with brands and then also become brand ambassadors or faces of campaigns,' Young said. 'Now, brands are so good at identifying talent they're interested in very early.' Written and directed by Oscar nominee Celine Song, 'Materialists' follows Johnson's character Lucy, a New York City matchmaker who finds herself at the center of a love triangle between her former flame, played by Evans, and a new love interest, played by Pascal. The film hits theaters June 13. Meghan shares video of trip to Disneyland with Prince Harry and children Archie and Lilibet

The Duchess of Sussex has shared a video of a family trip to Disneyland to celebrate daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday. In a post on Instagram, Meghan, 43, thanked the theme park, in California, for "giving our family two days of pure joy!" The video collage of photos of the trip with Prince Harry, 40, and their children Archie, six, and Lilibet, who turned four on Wednesday, is set to singer Peggy Lee's It's A Good Day. The children, who are pictured from behind or with their faces obscured by hearts, are seen meeting Elsa from Frozen in one video clip. The family are seen enjoying rides including Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Dumbo The Flying Elephant, Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance, and the Cars Land ride. In one image Meghan and Harry appear to be screaming, with mouths open, on the front row of Space Mountain. Lilibet, who was named after the late Queen's childhood nickname, is barefoot and wearing a pink dress with bows in another picture of all four posing together. Other photographs show Lilibet's Little Mermaid birthday cake, Mickey and Minnie Mouse stuffed dolls and plates of pickles and corn dogs. Read more from Sky News: Meghan's latest post comes after she shared a video of her and Harry dancing to a song called The Baby Momma Dance before she gave birth to Lilibet on 4 June. The duchess said the video was recorded four years ago, adding: "Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work - there was only one thing left to do!" Meghan also shared a series of photos of Lilibet, writing: "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! "Four years ago today, she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!"

Biddeford High School sends off Class of 2025

Jun. 6—Scott Descoteaux took to the stage Friday night and gave graduating Biddeford High School students on odd message: when life gets hard, just wash your hands. In the early 19th century, the Biddeford Middle School principal said, many women were dying during childbirth, and doctors couldn't figure out why. That's until a Hungarian physician realized doctors need to wash their hands between patients to avoid infections. "It was that simple, and it changed everything," he said. "Graduates, things are not always as complicated as they seem. Sometimes life's solutions are really quite simple." Descoteaux was invited by students to give the guest speech at the Biddeford High School's Class of 2025 graduation ceremony, and told his former students he was moved and honored to watch them receive their diplomas. In a speech that married sincerity and humor, Descoteaux encouraged students to forge their own paths and embrace failure. "I'm not here with a magic formula for life. I do not have a secret philosophy on how to find success, meaningful happiness or wealth. What I am here to talk to you about today is something that I think is just as important: the choices that you'll make here, moving forward, and the kind of person that you want to become," he said. "Your journey will not look like anyone else's, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be." In a memorable ending to his speech, Descoteaux lead the crowd in a rendition of the school's alma mater while holding — but not really playing — the ukulele. On a warm, wet Friday night, 175 Biddeford High School students walked across the stage of the school's Tiger Gym to receive their diplomas. The evening included a lively crowd and performances from the Biddeford High School Band, the concert choir and several student speeches. Senior Class President Keelie Gregoire kicked off by sharing some wisdom from pop singer Harry Styles. "'If you are happy doing what you are doing, then no one can tell you you aren't successful,'" Gregoire quoted the singer. "As we all go on to college, the trades, taking a gap year, or the military, it is very important to put yourself out there and take risks." Salutatorian Glen LaRoche told the crowd about how much being a part of band had changed his life for the better, and valedictorian Ella Ireland rounded out the speeches by congratulating her classmates for their growth and perseverance. "Eleanor Roosevelt once said that the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams," Ireland said. "It is my hope that people can go out into the world and have the courage to dream those dreams. Nothing good comes easy, and you will have to work for it." After the students walked, and occasionally danced, across the stage to grab their diplomas, Principal Martha Jacques told students they were ready to leave their mark on the world. "The world you're stepping into is full of possibilities, and now more than ever, it needs your curiosity, your creativity and your kindness," she said. Over the weekend, other high schools in the region including Westbrook, Scarborough and South Portland will celebrate their graduating classes. Seniors at Portland's three high schools graduated at Merrill Auditorium earlier this week. Copy the Story Link
