Blake Lively will testify in Justin Baldoni trial, lawyer reveals in first interview
Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
Blake Lively's attorney has revealed that the 37-year-old Hollywood starlet will testify in next year's trial against her 'It Ends With Us' co-star Justin Baldoni.
'Yes,' Lively's lawyer, Mike Gottlieb, confirmed to People during his first interview about the case on Thursday. 'The ultimate moment for a plaintiff's story to be told is at trial. We expect that to be the case here.'
'So we would, of course, expect her to be a witness at her trial,' he added. 'Of course she's going to testify.'

Questions regarding whether Lively would testify at the upcoming trial against Baldoni, 41, began last month after the actress' speech at the Time100 Gala.
'I have so much to say about the last two years of my life,' she said at the time, 'but tonight is not the forum.'
Plus, Lively's lawyer revealed that the 'Gossip Girl' alum would not be the only one to take the stand when the legal battle against Baldoni goes to trial in March 2026.

'There are individuals that were witnesses to or experienced misconduct that is relevant to Ms. Lively's claims,' Gottlieb explained. 'We expect their testimony, particularly about what took place on set, will come out through live witness testimony.'
The first step of the lengthy legal process will begin with discovery, in which both parties will question all those involved in the controversial matter.
'In discovery, they'll have an opportunity to ask Ms. Lively questions,' Gottlieb noted. 'Likewise, we will have the opportunity to take the depositions of the defendants.'

Besides witness testimony, Lively's legal team plans to present alleged 'evidence' relating to sexual harassment and smear campaign accusations against Baldoni. Statements and documents from Sony Pictures and the 'It Ends With Us' producers will also reportedly be presented.
Gottlieb further claimed that 'there have been a lot of distractions' taking attention away from the 'core of the case' and Lively's initial allegations against her former director.
'There have been a lot of distractions put up to deflect attention from the retaliation campaign that was launched against her,' he argued.

'And we expect and hope that in discovery we'll have an opportunity to really focus on what we believe to be the core part of the case,' Lively's attorney added, 'which is that this retaliation campaign was launched against Ms. Lively for her having raised concerns about sexual harassment.'
Whether Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds, and other A-list celebrities like Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman will be called to testify is still uncertain.
Reynolds, 48, is currently named as a defendant in Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against Lively. The 'It Ends With Us' director's legal team has also suggested that Swift, 35, and Jackman, 56, may be subpoenaed.

'It's completely unclear what claims or defenses in the case any of these celebrities have any relevance to at all,' Gottlieb said. 'This is a case about what happened to Blake Lively when she raised claims of sexual harassment on the set.'
'It's not a case about how songs were chosen for the movie. It's not a case about fictional Marvel characters in 'Deadpool' movies,' he continued. 'You have to ask the question, then, why are these people being subpoenaed? Do they have any actual relevance to the case at hand?'
'You can't just go around subpoenaing people because they're famous and you think it will generate a bunch of headlines,' Lively's lawyer concluded. 'And the federal courts don't tolerate that kind of behavior.'
11 Justin Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has fired back at the remarks made by Blake Lively's attorney.

Baldoni's attorney has since fired back at Gottlieb's comments.
'Although obviously uncomfortable for the Lively parties, the truth is not a distraction,' the director's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, told People on Thursday. 'The truth has been clearly shown through unedited receipts, documents and real life footage. More to come.'
'Blake was the one who brought her high-profile friends into this situation without concern for their own personal or public backlash,' he added. 'As the truth shows, she used her Dragons to manipulate Justin at every turn.'
Lively and Baldoni's legal feud began in December when the 'A Simple Favor' star filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and others.
11 The 'It Ends With Us' co-stars' trial is scheduled for March 2026.

She alleged that Baldoni sexually harassed her on set and then launched a 'coordinated effort to destroy her reputation.'
Baldoni denied the allegations and later countersued Lively and Reynolds for $400 million over alleged defamation and extortion — accusations they also denied.
A trial date has since been scheduled for March 2026.

Monyetta Shaw-Carter's Birthday Hits Different – She's Celebrating Life & Love After A Stage 1 Breast Cancer Battle
Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Today (May 31) isn't just another birthday for Monyetta Shaw-Carter — it's a full-on rebirth. After battling stage 1 breast cancer, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star's special day hits different. She is turning 45 and celebrating with purpose, power, and a whole lot of pink. 'I caught the cancer early, and because of that, I will be here for my kids,' she told People . 'There's nothing more important than getting checked often and early to protect your future. Our health is irreplaceable.' Her diagnosis came after she felt an unusual sensation in her left breast last September. She didn't find a lump but told People she had a strange feeling that something was off. She listened. And that instinct saved her life. 'It was literally like my body was alerting me that something was wrong,' Monyetta said. 'It's so important for me to share this story because I hope to inspire others not to dismiss their gut feeling. Our body speaks to us, and when it does, we have to listen. It can be a matter of life or death.' One month after that self-check, a mammogram confirmed she had stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. She underwent a lumpectomy in January and completed 16 rounds of radiation by May 2. Now, weeks later, she's bringing her loved ones together for a joyful, pink-powered birthday bash. Her party honors life, resilience, and sisterhood. Monyetta credits her husband, Heath Carter, for being her rock through it all. She also had the support of her ex-fiancé, singer NE-YO, with whom she shares two children. 'NE-YO was just showing up for me in a major way and just always asking and making sure everything was okay,' she recalled in a recent interview. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're gonna beat this.'' Her RHOA circle also showed up with love. Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Shamea Morton, and Shereé Whitfield all supported. For Monyetta Shaw-Carter, breast cancer is real but not unbeatable. So why not celebrate? As the founder of Keep It Classy Nails , a mother of four, and a businesswoman, she wants Black women everywhere to trust their instincts, take care of themselves, and live on their own terms. 'I'm stepping into this new chapter with deeper gratitude, unstoppable faith, and a whole new glow,' she wrote on Instagram. 'This birthday is more than candles and cake…it's a celebration of life, a reflection of pain & purpose, of healing, and God's grace. I've faced one of the biggest battles of my life… and I WON!!!' Miley Cyrus speaks out about dad Billy Ray's romance with Elizabeth Hurley
Miley Cyrus is sharing her thoughts on her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus ' new relationship and reflecting on how their own bond has evolved. In a new interview with The New York Times published Saturday, the Grammy winner spoke candidly about Billy Ray's romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley, as well as her mom Tish Cyrus' marriage to actor Dominic Purcell. "Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness, too -- I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing," Miley told the outlet. "I'm being an adult about it." She continued, "At first it's hard, because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, 'Yes, that's your dad, but that's just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy.' My child self has caught up." Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, who tied the knot in 1993, divorced in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage. They share three children -- Miley, Braison, and Noah -- and Billy Ray also adopted Tish's two older children, Brandi and Trace. Billy Ray went public with his relationship with Hurley on Easter Sunday. Their debut as a couple came just months after he finalized his divorce from his second wife, Firerose, in August 2024, according to People. In her New York Times interview, Miley also addressed longstanding speculation about her relationship with her father. When asked if they were estranged, she simply replied, "No." "I think timing is everything," she explained. "As I've gotten older, I'm respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents -- because my mom really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard. And so I think I took on some of my mom's hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain." Her comments followed a rare family photo that Billy Ray shared earlier this month, showing the family reunited to celebrate Braison's 31st birthday -- a moment that came after months of rumors about a rift between the father and daughter. Miley also directly addressed those rumors in a statement shared to her Instagram stories on May 10. "My dad and I have had our challenges over the years," she wrote at the time, per E! News. "Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family." Billy Ray echoed those sentiments in his own Mother's Day post on Instagram, praising his daughter and the progress they've made. "I'm so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage... her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most," he wrote. "We are so close to a full healing."

Livvy Dunne Shot Her Sports Illustrated Swim Cover with a Painful Broken Kneecap, but Says ‘It Was Worth It'
Olivia "Livvy" Dunne explained why her 2025 SI Swimsuit cover shoot "kind of hurt" when posing for the photos in a vlog-styled Instagram video shared on May 19 The former LSU gymnast revealed she was shooting on a fractured kneecap following her injury sustained on March 6 Dunne graced the cover of this year's SI Swimsuit issue alongside actress Salma Hayek Pinault, model Lauren Chan and fellow gymnast Jordan ChilesLivvy Dunne is a pro! The former LSU gymnast opened up about her 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover shoot in a recent Instagram video, explaining why posing for the photos was not the most comfortable despite the relaxed vibe seen in the final shots. "Fun fact, I was shooting on a fractured kneecap, so poses like this and the cover shot kind of hurt, but it was honestly so worth it," Dunne, 22, said in a voiceover that accompanied the vlog-styled clip uploaded on May 19. During her shoot, Dunne struck several poses in an asymmetrical zebra-print bikini on the beach in Bermuda. For the cover shot, she kneeled down in the sand that was covered by beautifully clear shallow water. The pain Dunne experienced during her SI Swimsuit shoot came after she sustained an avulsion fracture in her kneecap on March 6, barring her from future gymnastics competition at LSU. She's been on the road to recovery ever since. Dunne's appearance in the 2025 SI Swimsuit issue marked her third time being featured since she made her debut in 2023. She was one of four cover models selected alongside actress Salma Hayek Pinault, model Lauren Chan and fellow gymnast Jordan Chiles. The athlete spoke with PEOPLE exclusively at the 2025 SI Swimsuit launch party red carpet at The Hard Rock Hotel in New York City on May 15. She opened up about her future plans now that she's officially retired from gymnastics. "I've always said 'no' to opportunities way more than I've said 'yes' — so, I'm excited to do everything and be able to travel and to be able to do things on my time because it's always been around gymnastics," Dunne told PEOPLE exclusively at the event. "My life has revolved around gymnastics," she continued. "So, honestly, to be able to say yes to more things and potentially maybe do some more performing art stuff on screen — and I'm very excited." When asked by PEOPLE if that was a tease for acting, Dunne had a teasing response. "I don't know, I don't know! Stay tuned!" she replied. Read the original article on People
