'We made no secret of the fact he was only about 80 per cent at York and we feel he's taken a big step forward in his training since,' he said.
'We're delighted with him and really looking forward to Saturday. The stiff six (furlongs) obviously suited him down to the ground last year, so you can't be anything but happy coming back here.
'It's going to be a top-class race, we're under no illusions, but I wouldn't swap him for anything.
'They don't give Group Ones away, but as I say I wouldn't be swapping our fella for anything in the world. Hopefully it's a good race and if he runs his race he should be there or thereabouts.'
Royal Ascot sprints are international affairs these days and this year's renewal is no exception, with Inisherin joined at the head of the market by leading contenders from France and Japan.

Satono Reve is a fascinating challenger from the Far East, who produced a sparkling workout in Newmarket last week, while Lazzat has been a star for Jerome Reynier, winning his first six career starts before being touched by the William Haggas-trained Lake Forest in the Golden Eagle in Australia.
A tilt at the Hong Kong Mile did not pay off and he was also beaten on his first start of this year at Saint-Cloud, but a dominant display on his most recent start in a Listed event at Chantilly was enough to persuade powerhouse owners Wathnan Racing to step in ahead of his British debut.
'Lazzat is a horse we've been following for a very long time and he was unlucky in Australia in the Golden Eagle at the back-end of last year and it was a similar story in Hong Kong, which didn't pan out for him either,' said Wathnan's racing adviser Richard Brown.
'But we were deeply impressed with what he did in France on his comeback run, the time was very good and I think the straight six furlongs at Ascot will be right up his street. Six and seven should be his best distances, so a stiff six should be perfect for him.
'He's a great addition to the team and we're looking forward to seeing him in the Wathnan colours.'
The Qatar-based operation have a second string to their bow with another new recruit in Andrew Balding's Flora Of Bermuda, who was a neck second to Inisherin at York in mid-May.
Brown added: 'She ran a great race behind Inisherin at York and was arguably unlucky not to have won that day, it's great to have her on the team.
'The draw (stall four) is probably not the best, but she's a filly who comes from behind and hopefully it won't impede her chances too much. She's a really admirable filly and we're looking forward to seeing her run.'
Lazzat is joined on the trip across the Channel by Topgear, who has won his last three starts over seven furlongs for Christopher Head.

Other runners include Aidan O'Brien's Australian recruit Storm Boy, who needs to put a disappointing Irish debut behind him, and Clive Cox's pair of outsiders James's Delight and Jasour, with the latter turning out quickly after finishing down the field in Tuesday's King Charles III Stakes.
Cox said: 'Jasour has come back very well after Tuesday. It wasn't the early plan (to run again) but he has come back very well indeed and I think six furlongs is definitely more his gig.
'James's Delight was excellent in Ireland (last time out). He's also in good form but he wouldn't have minded easier ground. He's in great shape though and is looking to follow up a very exciting success on the Curragh.'

Celtic take on Kairat Almaty in the first leg of their playoff showdown at Parkhead on Wednesday night but one man's not ready Brendan Rodgers insists he had to leave Hayato Inamura out of his European squad because the defender is not ready to cut it against the cream of the continent. The Japanese ace impressed in pre-season as a back-up left back but has yet to feature for the Hoops in Scotland this season. Rodgers left the 23-year-old signing from Albirex Nigata out of his 26-man squad list for the Champions League play-off clash with Kairat Almaty. Asked how hard a decision it was to leave him out, the manager said: "Yeah, very easy. He's not quite at the level, as of yet, that I would expect. 'And the two boys that you mentioned have been great and they've had opportunities to move on and I hope for them that they get the chance to do that. Also like Ruling Court last year, Distant Storm comes into this race off a debut win. Our pick only narrowly landed a maiden at Newmarket last month, but that was a race won the previous season by this year's top miler Field Of Gold – and the form is working out exceptionally well. He had the run of the race in front when winning at Epsom and was not impressive when successful in a weak Irish Derby at the Curragh. But this big, galloping course will suit him, perhaps even more so than Epsom (and also Chester, where he trialled for the Derby). Los Angeles won this last year, albeit only just, having finished third at Epsom and laboured to victory in the Irish Derby. 3.35, York – Juddmonte International (1m 2½f; ITV1 and Racing TV) While there is only a small field, this is a belting edition of the Juddmonte International. Birr Castle has been supplemented – for £85,000 – to help ensure a good pace for the same owner's Ombudsman, who was most recently just denied by DELACROIX in a messy running of the Eclipse at Sandown. Our selection has been winning his races with a wicked change of pace off slow gallops, whereas Ombudsman won the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot from off a fast pace, running on really well. So maybe it's now advantage the latter contender for the Gosdens – he could simply be the stronger stayer. However, O'Brien's Delacroix is an extremely talented colt, and even if this race is run to try to blunt his late acceleration, he is fancied to simply prove the superior horse. There is also Danon Decile, who won last year's Japanese Derby and this season's Sheema Classic in Dubai. They are 1m 4f races, but he quickened off a slow pace in the latter race. See The Stars filly Sea The Fire is another contender judged on her runaway success over course and distance in the Group 2 Middleton in May. She is 2-2 at York, having won the Group 3 Strensall at this meeting last year, and her dam Arabian Queen was a 50/1 winner of this race in 2015. 4.10, York – Heritage Handicap (2m ½f; ITV1 and Racing TV) Another See The Stars progeny, ALIGN THE STARS can be excused a serious defeat at Goodwood last time, as that was over 2m 4½f and on testing ground. Getting back on quick going over this shorter trip should suit him, and he was a good second in a 1m 4f handicap here in May last year. While this season's form is patchy, he ran well – possibly even better than it looked – at Royal Ascot in June. 4.45, York – Fillies' Heritage Handicap (5f; Racing TV) RUBY'S PROFIT is rapid and this will be the first time she has had a pure speed test for a while. The ground had turned slow when she was third at Epsom on Derby Day. Ascot was too stiff a track for her later in June and the ground turned testing when she was third at Goodwood on her latest start. There could be a career best in our nap, just as long as her recent busy spell has not taken too much out of her. 5.20, York – Nursery Handicap (Class 2, 6f; Racing TV) This is a strong contest – there are 20-odd runners and four of them hold Group-race entries – but maybe it is worth giving another chance to OLD IS GOLD. The Mehmas colt came up short when selected on these pages on his previous two starts, but he is a strong traveller who went well for a long way when third (one place behind Shaman Champion) on rain-softened ground at Goodwood most recently. This race will be more of a speed test, which will suit him, and Andrew Balding's runner is one of those who has a Group entry, in the Mill Reef on September 20 at Newbury.
