Star Wars: Zero Company to debut in 2026, announcement trailer reveals

Electronic Arts has revealed its next Star Wars game and also announced the release timeline for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X. Star Wars: Zero Company will be a single-player turn-based tactics title and it will be released in 2026.
Developed by Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, the game is set towards the end of Clone Wars and has been described as 'gritty and authentic story' featuring an unconventional squad of operatives who take on a new threat to the galaxy.
Star Wars Zero Company: Everything announced
The strategy game was officially revealed on Saturday during the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan, following an earlier leak the week prior. Titled 'Star Wars: Zero Company', the game places players in control of Hawk, a former officer of the Republic who assembles a diverse squad of elite mercenaries. These recruits hail from all corners of the galaxy and embody familiar Star Wars roles, such as Jedi, astromech droids, and other iconic character types. Each member of Zero Company will bring unique combat abilities and distinct personalities to the battlefield.
Alongside the announcement, EA unveiled a trailer showcasing a mix of cinematic scenes and in-game footage, giving fans a first look at the strategic gameplay.
In Star Wars: Zero Company, players will guide their squad through a series of tactical missions and investigations spanning the galaxy, all while building and upgrading their central base of operations. According to EA, Hawk's appearance and combat role will be fully customisable, allowing players to tailor the protagonist to their playstyle. The remaining squad members can be selected from a variety of new Star Wars-inspired classes and species. Each operative's look, gear, and skillset can be adjusted, with archetypes including Jedi, Clone Troopers, and astromechs.
Building strong relationships with team members during missions will be key to unlocking powerful combat synergies that can turn the tide in battle. Success in tactical encounters will depend heavily on preparation, strategic planning, and choosing the right squad for the job.
At the event, EA unveiled four new original characters from Star Wars: Zero Company: Trick, a battle-hardened clone trooper; Luco Bronc, an expert sharpshooter specialising in incendiary weaponry; Cly Kullervo, a skilled Mandalorian gunslinger; and Tel, a Tognath Jedi Padawan.
EA also revealed that Star Wars: Zero Company will boast one of the largest and most interactive maps ever seen in a Star Wars game. Players will explore iconic planets from various Star Wars media, including Serolonis from The Bad Batch, Vandor from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Mapuzo from Obi-Wan Kenobi, and more.
Although a specific release date has yet to be announced, Star Wars: Zero Company is slated to launch in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The game is now available for wishlisting on all supported platforms.

How to control a Star Destroyer in Fortnite

In one of its boldest collaborations yet, Fortnite has added the iconic Star Destroyer from Star Wars into the Battle Royale island - and yes, players can take control of it. As part of the ongoing Star Wars crossover event, Epic Games has introduced this massive ship into gameplay with a twist: only one team or player per match gets to command it. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Here's everything you need to know about finding and controlling the Star Destroyer in Fortnite. When and where does the Star Destroyer spawn? The Star Destroyer becomes accessible around five minutes into the match, just as the first storm circle closes. Players will receive a loud siren cue, along with an on-screen message: 'Star Destroyer Portal is Open.' At this point, a Star Destroyer icon appears both on the minimap and HUD, revealing the portal's location within the safe zone. Star Destroyer Bombardment | Fortnite Galactic Battle Gameplay Trailer The spawn location is random, so quick mobility is key. Players using an X-Wing or TIE Fighter will have the best chance of reaching the portal first. Vehicles significantly increase your chances of claiming the Star Destroyer before your opponents do. How to enter and use the Star Destroyer Once you reach the portal, interact with it (default key: E) to board the ship. You'll be transported high above the island, granted a temporary birds-eye view for a limited time. Players have 1 minute and 20 seconds (or 90 seconds, depending on the game version) to rain down firepower using the Star Destroyer's powerful blaster cannon. The weapon deals 73 splash damage and 120 on direct hits. Enemies are marked with red triangles, making it easier to aim. You can fire once every second, with infinite ammo and the ability to zoom in for better accuracy. In squad mode, each member controls a separate cannon. After the time expires or if you choose to exit manually, the Star Destroyer vanishes through a rift, and players glide safely back to the island. While some fans are thrilled about this addition, others have called it overpowered or creatively off-track. 'This is not Fortnite, it's GTA 5 Online,' one player joked on social media, while others expressed excitement over the firepower. Love it or not, the Star Destroyer is here - and it's one of the most dominant tools currently available in Fortnite. Use it wisely, because only one player can control it per match.

EA will no longer make the Black Panther game, game studio shut: Report

Electronic Arts has reportedly cancelled Black Panther game, which it has been working on in collaboration with Marvel. Moreover, the American video game publisher has reportedly shut down the game studio Cliffhanger Games, which it had created to develop the game – reported gaming-focused news organisation IGN. Since its initial reveal in 2023, limited details have emerged about Black Panther game, other than it being a single-player title featuring an original story created in partnership with Marvel Games. As per the report, in an email sent to staff from EA Entertainment president Laura Miele, she said that these changes, alongside other recent cancellations and layoffs, are being done to "sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities." She added: 'These decisions are hard. They affect people we've worked with, learned from, and shared real moments with. We're doing everything we can to support them — including finding opportunities within EA, where we've had success helping people land in new roles." EA's partnership with Marvel affected According to IGN, Marvel and EA's collaboration on Black Panther is part of a broader three-game agreement that also includes Iron Man and an as-yet unannounced title. The partnership is expected to move forward, with Motive Studios taking the lead on upcoming Marvel projects. In a statement shared with IGN, Miele confirmed: 'Our partnership with Marvel remains strong and our multi-title, long-term collaboration continues.' Layoffs at EA The layoffs at EA follow several waves of job cuts and project cancellations in recent years, particularly throughout 2025. Just last month, the company reportedly let go of around 300 employees, including nearly 100 at Respawn, while also scrapping a Titanfall title in development and another incubation project, as reported by IGN. According to the report, earlier in 2025, EA restructured BioWare, redeploying some staff and laying off others. In 2024, a major company-wide restructuring led to 670 layoffs, including approximately two dozen at Respawn. The previous year, BioWare saw 50 roles eliminated, with additional undisclosed cuts reportedly taking place at Codemasters.

WWDC 2025: Apple may unveil iOS 26, not iOS 19

With just a few weeks left for Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference to kick off, the Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly planning to rename its operating systems as part of a new strategy. According to a new report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, citing people with knowledge of the matter, Apple's upcoming operating systems will be named by the year rather than a version number. What it means is that the next version of iOS, which Apple is expected to call iOS 19, will be renamed to iOS 26. The renaming scheme will apply to Apple's other operating systems, meaning we may see macOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and visionOS 26. Gurman says that Apple may be going ahead with the move as it wants to move away from an approach that, at times, may be confusing for some users and bring consistency to its branding. In case you are wondering, the company's current operating systems, like iOS 18, visionOS 2, macOS 15 and others, are using different version numbers as they were not launched in the same year. The current year is 2025, but Apple seems to be adopting the +1 approach, which is similar to how Electronic Arts updates their FC series. While the tech giant's upcoming operating systems will be launched later this year, sometime in September, they will be named for the year 2026. However, this isn't the first time Apple has attempted such a thing. Back in 2007, the company had unveiled iWork'08 and iLife'08, which were then followed by iLife '11, which was up for sale in October 2020. Samsung did the same thing back in 2020 when it unveiled the Galaxy S20 series, the successor to 2019's Galaxy S10. Apart from renaming its operating systems, Apple is reportedly working on bringing a more Mac-like experience to iPads, which may help boost productivity. The report also suggests that the new branding will be accompanied by changes to the user interface across multiple operating systems. Internally dubbed Solarium, the UI overhaul includes tvOS, watchOS and some parts of visionOS. Also, it looks like the tech giant will open up its AI models to third-party developers, enabling them to leverage the power of Apple Intelligence. On the AI Front, the company is planning to bring new health features alongside an AI-powered battery management mode. As for other devices, Apple is rumoured to be working on a new live translation mode for AirPods and Siri, as well as an eye scrolling mechanism for its mixed reality headset – the Vision Pro. All these changes and features are expected at the WWDC 2025, which will take place on June 9.
