Clemson freshman announces transfer portal destination, joins Big 12 program
A former Clemson Tiger has found his new home for the 2026 college baseball season.
TP Wentworth, who appeared in 26 games for the Tigers during his freshman season in 2025 and made 12 starts, announced in a post to Instagram late Wednesday that he was transferring to Oklahoma State in the Big 12.
Wentworth started in right field for Clemson down the stretch, beginning with the Tigers' final regular season series at Pittsburgh on May 16 and through all four games of the ACC Tournament in Durham. He batted .220 with three doubles and seven RBIs in 26 games.
On the mound, Wentworth appeared in 11 games and tossed nine innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits for an 8.00 ERA while striking out eight batters and walking five.
Wentworth was one of two former Clemson players to announce new destinations for the 2026 season on Wednesday. Left-hander Ethan Darden, who spent the past three seasons with the team, announced his commitment to Texas A&M earlier in the day.

TORONTO (AP) — Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll exited Wednesday's 8-1 loss at Toronto in the eighth inning after he was hit on his left hand by a pitch. Manager Torey Lovullo said X-rays did not reveal a fracture. Carroll stayed in to run the bases after being hit by a 91 mph sinker from rookie left-hander Justin Bruihl. But he was replaced before the bottom half of the eighth. Alek Thomas took Carroll's spot in the lineup, with Tim Tawa moving from center field to right. Lovullo said Carroll was hit on the fleshy part of the hand below his pinkie, resulting in a contusion. 'It's a very dangerous spot when you're talking about that bone on the pinkie side,' Lovullo said. 'It got a lot of meat, so we're grateful for that.' Carroll's status for Thursday's series finale was unclear. 'I wouldn't be surprised if he tells me he wants to play tomorrow,' Lovullo said. 'We're going to keep an open mind, we're going to continue to evaluate him tonight through the night and into the morning and see how he feels.' Carroll tripled and scored Arizona's only run. The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year is batting .255 with 20 homers and 44 RBIs. Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno was unavailable for a second consecutive game because of a sore right hand. Nick Castellanos returns to Phillies lineup after benching for 'inappropriate comment'
MIAMI (AP) — Nick Castellanos returned to the Philadelphia Phillies lineup for their game against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday after being benched the day before for 'an inappropriate comment' the outfielder made when he was pulled for a defensive replacement on Monday. 'It's gone. It's gone. We're good,' manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday of the benching, which ended Castellanos' streak of 236 consecutive starts. Castellanos played right field and singled in four at-bats against the Marlins on Monday before Johan Rojas replaced him in the bottom of the eighth with Philadelphia up 3-1. Max Kepler moved to right and Rojas played center. Thomson said after Monday's game he had intended to insert Rojas behind Philadelphia's right-handed pitching and indicated that could be the plan moving forward. Thomson added Wednesday that approach 'just depends on the situations.' When asked if he would be OK with taking Castellanos out in a similar situation on Wednesday, Thomson said, 'Probably not today." The plan was also for Castellanos to only be benched for Tuesday's game, Thomson added. The Phillies lost that matchup 8-3. The 33-year-old Castellanos is in his fourth season with the Phillies, who are second in the NL East. He's hitting .278 with seven homers and 36 RBIs. ___
