Philadelphia Eagles Star Hit with Sudden Injury Blow
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. With the first week of the NFL Preseason approaching for the Philadelphia Eagles, the team is dealing with notable injuries in the wide receiver group. AJ Brown is the latest addition. The star wideout is reportedly dealing with a hamstring injury. While the injury doesn't seem overly concerning at this time, it will be something to monitor as the offseason plays out. After all, hamstring setbacks tend to get tricky. Hamstring injury for A.J. Brown. — Jeff McLane (@Jeff_McLane) August 3, 2025 Brown has been Jalen Hurts' top wideout since he landed with the Eagles via trade in 2022. Brown started his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, but was traded following his third season. The Eagles have surely benefited from the presence of Brown, who kicked off his Eagles stint with nearly 1,500 yards and over 10 touchdowns. In 2022, Brown was the top wideout on the NFC Champions, who came up just short against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Two years ago, Brown had another spectacular season with the Eagles, as he caught a career-high 106 passes. He nearly notched his career-high once again, after posting 1,456 yards. He also found the endzone for seven scores in 17 games. A.J. Brown #11 talks to Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp at NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2025 in Philadelphia, year, the Eagles' passing game was slightly concerning throughout the year. It showed in Jalen Hurts' passing numbers and in Brown's receiving production as well. Dealing with injuries at times, Brown appeared in just 13 games for Philadelphia last year. He caught just 67 passes, which was by far his lowest since joining the Eagles. The star wide receiver still cracked the 1,000-yard mark, but not by much. He reached the endzone for seven touchdowns. Despite a lack of regular-season production, Brown would shine throughout the playoffs. In four games, he produced a playoff career-high 163 yards and scored twice. One of his touchdowns came in the Super Bowl, where the Eagles dominated the Chiefs, getting their revenge from a couple of seasons ago. The chances of Brown getting burn in the preseason were likely always going to be slim this season. Since the 28-year-old is well-established at this stage in his career, he doesn't need the meaningless reps before a long season. Still, the setback is notable. Brown will be a player to keep an eye on in the coming days. For more Philadelphia Eagles and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Former Panthers draft pick retires on Sunday
A hog molly has called it quits on his football career. As announced by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday morning, offensive lineman Dennis Daley has been placed on the reserve/retired list. The soon-to-be 29-year-old played his first three NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Daley, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native, was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. The University of South Carolina product went on to start nine games at left tackle as a rookie. The 2020 and 2021 campaigns saw Daley start in 12 of his 20 outings for Carolina. In addition to left tackle, where he recorded 924 total snaps as a Panther, he also lined up at left guard (336 snaps) and right guard (124). Carolina, in August of 2022, traded Daley and a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2024 fifth-rounder. That fifth-round selection was eventually traded by the Panthers to the Indianapolis Colts in their move up for second-round running back Jonathon Brooks. Daley would then go on to pick up stops with the Arizona Cardinals (2023) and the Jaguars (2024).This article originally appeared on Panthers Wire: Former Panthers, OL Dennis Daley retires
