AN explosion was heard in Oxfordshire with bright flashes in lighting up the sky.
Energy provider SSEN identified an issue at Didcot's power station just before 5am on Wednesday, August 20.
Engineers performed a series of brief confirmatory checks to confirm the operational status of the network.
But customers' supplies were only interrupted for around one minute, and the network resumed operating normally thereafter, SSEN said.

The energy provider confirmed that a 'brief' noise and 'occasional' flashes are normal and expected by-products of this automated process.
This process is designed to ensure the integrity of the network and minimise disruption to customer supplies, SSEN officials added.
Residents in Didcot reported hearing an explosion around two miles from the power station, with there being a 'massive power flash'.
February 2016 saw the power station collapse while claiming the lives of four men.
Demolition workers Michael Collings, Ken Cresswell, Christopher Huxtable and John Shaw were all killed.
Thames Valley Police and the Health and Safety Executive continue to investigate the circumstances nine years later.
Deputy chief constable Ben Snuggs said it is a highly complex case" and offences of corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter and Health and Safety at Work Act are being looked into.
The investigation team has collated and analysed over 6,500 exhibits, 90,000 images, and 230,000 digital media artefacts.
Over 180 hours of video recorded witness and suspect interviews have been conducted, in addition to the 2,812 statements taken.

Building sites in quaint Oxfordshire village 'targeted' by men in balaclavas

Men in balaclavas have reportedly stolen tools from building sites in a quaint Oxfordshire village. Thames Valley Police has reported that in the early hours today (Tuesday, August 19), at least three men with balaclavas were seen 'acting suspiciously' around Fifield village, near Burford. in particular they were said to be looking at properties being built or renovated with tools taken from several sites and a van broken into. Tools were stolen from the van as well. READ MORE: A spokesperson for police said: 'We want to make you aware that in the early hours of this morning, there were at least three males wearing balaclavas seen acting suspiciously in the Fifield area. 'They appeared to be looking at various properties before targeting those currently being built or renovated. Fifield village near Burford, where the incidents occurred (Image: Google Maps) 'Builders' tools were stolen from several sites, and a resident's van was also broken into, with further tools taken.' The spokesperson added that they 'strongly encourage' residents to 'take extra precautions to secure their properties'. Among the actions a resident can take are to install a monitored burglar alarm and use hardwired CCTV systems with good night vision. Police also advise that all tools and equipment are locked inside storage units and marked using Selecta DNA or by engraving a postcode. Vans should be locked; proper fencing and lighting should be in place around renovation sites; and any unusual activity should be reported. Police added: 'We appreciate your vigilance and cooperation. By working together and taking preventative steps, we can help protect our community.'
