Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasised the importance of technology in agriculture during the inauguration of the ongoing Tech AI 2.0 initiative within the Animal Husbandry Department on Thursday. Speaking at the event, he recalled the establishment of the Global Federation for Successful Technology (GFST), aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in the region.
The Chief Minister noted that around 42 lakh individuals rely on livestock, which plays a crucial role in the economy, contributing 13.5 percent to the Goods and Services Tax (GST). "I am a lifelong student. I will keep learning new things all the time," he stated, highlighting the need for continuous education and adaptation.
Naidu encouraged startups developing applications beneficial to farmers, proposing the creation of a WhatsApp application to consolidate agricultural services for their convenience. He also spoke about maritime initiatives, revealing plans to leverage Andhra Pradesh's extensive coastline of over 1,000 km for economic development. He confirmed that the Central Government has approved plans for a shipbuilding and repair cluster in Dugarajapatnam, alongside a greenfield port, as per the bifurcation agreement.
The Chief Minister pointed out that farmers are consistently earning income through dairy farming, asserting that incomes significantly increase during the tenure of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Quoting a contribution of ₹1.69 lakh crore to the gross state domestic product (GSDP) from livestock, he added, "The highest income comes from horticulture. Andhra Pradesh is the fastest-growing state in India's agricultural sector."
Chandrababu further remarked on the shift in food habits within the state, sharing his own preference for a straightforward breakfast of omelettes. He highlighted the rising significance of millets and fruits and noted that Andhra Pradesh boasts the most advanced micro-irrigation systems in the country, further reinforcing the state's agricultural prominence.

Free RTC bus travel plan for women in final stage in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: The coalition government is chalking out final plans to implement free bus travel for women, a key Super Six promise. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with APSRTC officials at his Undavalli camp office on Saturday to discuss the rollout, set to begin on August 15. To accommodate the expected surge in passengers, the Chief Minister directed officials to increase the number of buses by purchasing new ones or leasing them as needed. He emphasised that all new buses introduced by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) should be electric vehicle (EV) air-conditioned buses. He further instructed officials to explore converting existing buses to EVs and to equip every bus with GPS for better tracking and management. Despite the State's financial constraints, Chief Minister Naidu stressed the importance of fulfilling election promises while ensuring prudent use of public funds. He urged APSRTC to boost revenue streams and reduce operational costs. Suggestions included improving efficiency, maintaining clean bus station facilities, and ensuring passenger satisfaction through better services. He emphasised that Andhra Pradesh's scheme should be the most effective and passenger-friendly. 'Our implementation must set a benchmark for satisfaction and efficiency,' he told officials.

WhatsApp is finally bringing document scanning feature on Android but only for these users

WhatsApp is now bringing a new capability for its Android beta testers that allows them to scan documents directly from the app, a feature that has been available to the app's iOS users for the past several months. The new feature ends the need to rely on third-party document scanners as WhatsApp itself creates images into documents that can be shared with different contacts. With the new feature, WhatsApp will bring a more streamlined document-sharing experience to its users by allowing them to seamlessly scan, convert and share documents in PDF format, reducing the hassle of switching between different apps. The feature was first spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.18.29, where it remained inactive owing to being still under development. However, the feature is now seemingly being rolled out to beta testers at large, with many users reporting gaining access to the new feature after installing the latest update from the Google Play Store. After the latest update, a new 'Scan Document' option now appears alongside the current 'Browse Documents' and 'Choose from gallery' options in the attachment menu. Clicking on the new option will open your Android device's camera and prompt users to click images for document sharing. Notably, WhatsApp also allows users to position their phone correctly for document sharing by giving them manual and automatic options. Under the manual option, users can take control over which parts they want selected for document scanning, while in automatic mode, WhatsApp detects the edges of the document in order to provide an instantaneous document-sharing experience. In other related news, WhatsApp also rolled out a new AI-powered feature earlier this week that summarises personal chats of users. The Meta AI-backed feature allows the personal messaging app to create a bullet-point summary of chats in order to provide users with a general idea of what the conversation is about before diving further.
