Prince William & Kate's Kids Missed This Major Royal Event for a Totally Relatable Reason

Yahoo09-05-2025

It's been a whirlwind week for the royal family as they commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day. From King Charles and Queen Camilla to Duchess Sophie, Princess Anne and even the late Princess Diana's older sister, Lady Sarah, royals of all ranks have made appearances at various events honoring the end of WWII in Europe. Prince William and Princess Kate have been front and center throughout the celebrations—and yes, their three kids even made a surprise appearance earlier this week.
On Monday, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joined their parents for a military procession. But at today's service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, the young Wales trio was noticeably absent. The reason? Totally relatable: school.

According to The Mirror, the children remained at Lambrook School near the family's home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. While the rest of the family was honoring the occasion with more formal appearances, George, Charlotte and Louis were back in the classroom.
Still, Monday's appearance proved they're already learning the ropes of royal life. According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, who spoke with Hello!, William and Kate kept the kids engaged during the flyover by turning it into a fun guessing game. Even Queen Camilla reportedly joined in as William identified different aircrafts for his family. 'That's a UKMFTS,' he said at one point. 'That's similar to the Lancaster, I think.'
Meanwhile, the official royal family Instagram shared a stunning photo roundup from the events. The post kicked off with a dramatic shot of King Charles saluting beneath a sea of Union Jack flags, followed by snaps of Princess Anne in conversation, Duchess Sophie smiling and a rare photo of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent.
All in all, it's been a busy, history-rich week for the royals.

Louis was joined by his siblings, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, their parents Prince William, 42, and Kate Middleton, 43, and King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the end of the event. Soon after, social media users flocked to X to share their excitement over seeing the young royal having fun. One viewer wrote, 'Love Prince Louis sneaking a peek,' while a second added, 'Those little royals always steal the show! @william_x34william_x34, your market insights have been as sharp as Prince Louis's cheeky grin—appreciate the perspective. Princess Charlotte was even spotted telling Prince Louis to 'stop.' And during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, Louis garnered a round of laughs as he made a series of animated facial expressions throughout. 'He's a cheeky monkey — a typical third child,' an insider told People at the time. Charlotte also sported a blue dress, a diamond brooch and wore her hair in a braid, while George and Louis wore dark colored suits. Trooping the Colour is held each June to celebrate the official birthday of the British sovereign, with more than 1,400 soldiers, horses, and musicians gather on Horse Guards Parade in London to celebrate their leader. Missing from the festivities were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their kids Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. The last time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Trooping of Colour was in 2019, a year after their wedding. 8 Prince George and Prince Louis arrive in a carriage and share a smile. 'When Harry and Meghan quit royal duties, I think officials were very keen to stress that they would still be invited to occasions such as Trooping the Colour,' palace insider Richard Eden said in 2023. 'So the fact they haven't been invited is very significant.' 8 Prince William, Prince Louis, and Prince George, watch the flypast. Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Missed Trooping the Colour 2025

On Saturday, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all attended the 2025 Trooping the Colour event to celebrate King Charles's birthday. The annual event is the public celebration of the king, though his actual birthday is in November. The family looked festive, with the boys matching their father's red military uniform with red ties complimenting their navy suits. Charlotte wore a pale blue look mirroring her mother, Kate Middleton, who had on a Catherine Walker coat dress modeled after a prior outfit worn by the late Princess Diana. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not at the event, having last publicly attended in 2019. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to Montecito, California, in 2020, where they have been raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple has been unwilling to return to visit the U.K. together given concerns around security. Prince Harry has been fighting in court to have automatic police security re-established for his family, but they lost their appeal on the matter in April of this year. Last week, a source told People that the couple has different perspectives on how to move forward given the rift between Harry and King Charles. The king has been receiving cancer treatments, increasing the tension. 'They're aware of everything going on in England, but they're being left out of the details—there's clearly no trust,' said the insider, adding that Meghan is 'focused on the future,' and 'is very business about it.' The Duchess of Sussex 'wishes her husband could feel less burdened by the past and more present in the life they've built together.' But it has been 'difficult for him to even get proper updates about his dad,' which is painful for the duke.

Charles Just Created a ‘Huge Problem' With Beatrice & Eugenie Amid Reports William Wants ‘Toxic' Andrew Out of the Family

King Charles is about to celebrate his royal birthday, and two non-working royals might be joining him on the balcony for the Trooping the Colour. Princess Eugenie and Beatrice have been in the newscycle lately due to the proximity between their cousin Prince William and uncle, but what exactly does it mean for the future of the Royal family. Though presenting the sisters on the balcony can be seen as an 'olive branch' moment, some royal experts think that it would be a 'huge problem' for King Charles. More from StyleCaster Princess Eugenie Subtly Forms Alliance With William as She Distances Herself From 'Close' Cousin Harry Trump Accused of Stealing King Charles' Thunder After the Royal Made a Clear Stance Against the President Richard Fitzwilliams spoke to GB News about the potential decision. 'It would bring into focus the fact that [Prince] Andrew does not appear, and anything to do with him is still too toxic,' he told the outlet. 'Unfortunately for the Yorks, there is a problem, a huge problem, and it would send a message that would not be appropriate at the moment.'The commentary comes right after it was reported that Prince William plans to use Princess Eugenie and Beatrice for bigger roles within the family. 'When William ascends the throne, Beatrice and Eugenie will be valuable assets, and I'm certain they will get involved with royal duties. It makes perfect sense, because he will need them,' Ingrid Seward, royal author and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told Hello!. 'I see them as a sort of double act, working together in the same way as married couples do. Two gorgeous Princesses working together as sisters would be very powerful. I think it would be wonderful, and I think it will happen,' the author added. However, things don't look quite as smooth for their father Prince Andrew after William wants to excommunicate him from the family once and for all once he's king. 'William's strong stance on 'the Andrew problem' is consistent, unwavering and his influence has been decisive in ensuring Andrew remains sidelined,' Hillary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. 'He is driven by his desire… to protect the monarchy's reputation, doing all he can to safeguard its future.' '[William is] very in touch with the public,' Fordwich added. 'Every public opinion poll has Andrew at the bottom, reinforcing Prince William's stance. Once king, no doubt, Prince William will ensure Andrew is completely excluded from royal life, as well as all public appearances.' For those confirmed to stand on the balcony, the Express, reported that it's believed that Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children will join Charles and Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the tradition. Charles will reportedly break Royal tradition by riding in a carriage rather than horseback.
