Travis Kelce hits out at rival who could deny him Olympics dream

Daily Mail6 days ago

Travis Kelce has hit out at Team USA flag football's Darrell Doucette for the quarterback having a stance that would deny him and other NFL stars the chance to compete at the Olympics.
For the 2028 summer spectacular in Los Angeles, flag football will be introduced for the first time. America already has a national team for the sport. However, most believe the best gridiron athletes for Team USA would be NFL players.
The 35-year-old Doucette is open to competition and does not want to be tossed to the side, per the Washington Post.
Doucette competing for a spot on Team USA against the likes of Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Jayden Daniels, and others appears to be a mammoth task in the view of Travis and Jason Kelce.
Of course, the Chiefs tight end may want to wear the red, white, and blue himself.
'May the best players play. Is this guy afraid of competition?' Travis said. 'Just have a tryout and the best players make the team. He's just boxing out other people from joining the sport because they haven't played this specific style of football?'
'Lets just have these guys play an NFL team that's picked and may the best team win and represent the USA,' Jason added. 'If these guys are the best, they should represent USA. But I don't know anything about flag football, I feel really confident they're not the best.'
'We got some guys that can do some crazy stuff with the ball in their hands man,' Travis continued. ' Watching Darrell's highlights, even his highlights are f***in epic. Lamar would be f***, nobody's catching him. Lamar got stocky. What if we hold like a combine?'
It is unclear how the Team USA squad for the Olympics will be chosen. If it is in line with other team sports, the head coach or national organization for the sport will choose the roster, in line with how the basketball and soccer teams get filled out.
Other sports like gymnastics and swimming, where there are team events, but athletes also compete individually, are chosen through the Olympic Trials, where a series of qualifying phases occur.
Doucette would be 38 for the Los Angeles Olympiad, with rare NFL players having massive success at that age or older, with Tom Brady being the glaring exception.
Kelce would also be 38 for the Olympics, with previous teases that his NFL career could be wrapping up soon.

Family of terrorist who hurled Molotov cocktails at pro-Israel demonstrators detained by US immigration cops

The family of a terrorist suspect who threw Molotov cocktails at pro-Israel activists were detained by immigration cops. Mohamed Sabry Soliman 's wife and five kids were yesterday seized by the Department of Homeland Security after it emerged he illegally outstayed his US visa. 2 2 Egyptian national Soliman, 45, reportedly injured 12 people, including an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor, on Sunday. The suspect yelled 'you all deserve to die' and 'Free Palestine' in Boulder, Colorado, at American Jews calling for the return of Israeli hostages. The shirtless fiend used an improvised flamethrower and petrol bombs, leaving several victims with severe burns, in the attack at a busy shopping centre in Boulder, Colorado. Kristi Noem of the DHS said: 'This terrorist will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. 'We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this attack. 'I am continuing to pray for the victims of this attack and their families.' Soliman will be charged tomorrow, including with 16 counts of attempted murder. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has blamed his predecessor, Joe Biden, for allowing Soliman to illegally overstay a tourist visa. Prosecutors believe he had planned the attack for a year and was only put off by waiting for one of his daughters to graduate from high school. Soliman was born in Egypt and lived in Kuwait for 17 years before moving to Colorado, where he worked as an Uber driver, in August 2022.
