Will Mukesh Ambani's Chinese partner beat Ratan Tata's ‘Made In India' Zudio? new race intensifies in India's fashion…
The Indian retail fashion industry will see a new intensified competition. It's about who can offer the cheapest T-shirt without cutting corners. Tata Group's Zudio which offers clothes at cheaper rates is not there in every corner of the country in rural to urban areas. And it's also making numbers for business.
Zudio focuses on simplicity and in an Indian economy middle-class are responding to the brand with huge response. Due to which other exiting players like Max Fashions and Reliance Trends are impacting because of it. Zudio's aggressive pricing and India-made tag also helped it to connect with Indian customers.
Even calls for boycotting the foreign brands after Indian China tensions during 2020 also damaged other brands building in the Indian market. Reliance's Shein Connection
Shein, the Chinese fast-fashion brand that was banned in India in 2020, is again trying to establish itself through Mukesh Ambani's Reliance. The two companies entered into a partnership last year and are now coming up in the market with several plans.
But they are not applying their old strategy again. The brand is planning to shift the majority of its manufacturing to India. According to a media report they can even bring 1,000 factories in India to produce Shein-labeled garments by the next year. By this they can attract Indian markets and also export to Shein's global customer base.
Shein's production operations in China were halted after the tariff war with the US to increase. Shifting production to India can reduce Shein's trade risks and will also help India's manufacturing ecosystem. Zudio VS Shein
It's not yet clear whether Shein's comeback via Reliance can disrupt Zudio's market or not. Zudio has the advantage of being a 'made in India' company and manufacturer. Most of its clothes are made in India, and they have reduced imports from Bangladesh. Indian consumers' shopping choices are majorly still linked to this emotional aspect of 'made in India' products. So it's interesting to see if they chose Shein even if it's rebranded by Reliance or will they stick to Tata's Zudio?

Suzlon Energy stock downgraded to 'accumulate' by Geojit; but target price raised to ₹77 from ₹71
Domestic brokerage house Geojit Financial Services has revised its outlook on Suzlon Energy, downgrading the stock from a 'Buy' to an 'Accumulate' rating. Despite the revised stance, the brokerage firm has increased its target price to ₹ 77 from the earlier ₹ 71, indicating a potential upside of 17 percent from previous close of ₹ 65.67. The adjustment reflects Suzlon's promising growth prospects, driven by a robust order book and strong performance in its wind turbine business. Geojit highlighted Suzlon's expanding order book of over 5.5 GW, which it believes will support a 41 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in wind turbine generator (WTG) deliveries from FY25 to FY27. The brokerage expects Suzlon's earnings to grow at a 38 percent CAGR over this period, while return on equity is projected to improve to 26 percent. However, Geojit cautioned about execution risks that could arise in managing large-scale projects. Despite this, the company's recent financial performance lends credibility to its growth trajectory. Suzlon delivered 573 MW of WTG capacity in Q4FY25, marking a 110 percent year-on-year increase. Its consolidated revenues jumped 73 percent during the quarter, with the WTG segment alone growing 105 percent year-on-year. While gross margins dipped 133 basis points to 35 percent due to a higher contribution from the lower-margin WTG business, Suzlon's EBITDA margin improved by 202 basis points to 18 percent. This improvement was driven by economies of scale and better capacity utilization. EBIT margins in the WTG and foundry segments rose by 903 and 34 basis points, respectively. Suzlon Energy posted a sharp improvement in its consolidated financial performance for the quarter ended March 2025, with net profit surging to ₹ 1,182.22 crore, up significantly from ₹ 254.12 crore reported in the same period last year. The company also delivered strong top-line growth, as revenue from operations jumped 73 percent year-on-year to ₹ 3,773.54 crore, compared to ₹ 2,179.20 crore in the March 2024 quarter. As of the end of FY25, the company had a net cash position of ₹ 1,943 crore and a consolidated net worth of ₹ 6,106 crore, indicating a strong balance sheet. Meanwhile, another brokerage house Nuvama Institutional Equities also maintained a positive long-term outlook on Suzlon, although it has retained its 'Hold' rating. It raised the target price from ₹ 61 to ₹ 68, citing the company's strategic positioning in India's clean energy transition. 'Suzlon remains a key beneficiary of the increasing share of firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), round-the-clock (RTC) power, and hybrid tenders in the Indian energy landscape,' Nuvama noted. The firm also emphasised Suzlon's duopolistic presence in the EPC and wind turbine generator market, holding a 30 percent market share. Additionally, the company serves both the commercial & industrial (C&I) and PSU segments, with C&I accounting for 55 percent of the order book. Suzlon Energy's stock has experienced significant volatility over the past year. It touched a 52-week high of ₹ 86.04 in September 2024 and a low of ₹ 46 in April 2025. Over the past 12 months, the stock has gained over 30 percent. However, the trend in 2025 has been mixed. After a 27 percent surge in May, the stock has declined nearly 10 percent in June so far. Earlier in the year, it fell marginally in April and February but gained 14 percent in March. January also saw a 6.5 percent decline. Nearly 80% shoppers discover new products through social media, says Meta study
In the last few years, social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook have emerged as the go-to source for billions worldwide to see what's happening in the world. These platforms are also playing an important role in guiding purchasing decisions. As it turns out, social media platforms are also shaping how consumers discover new products and brands online. As it turns out, millions of Indians rely on influencers, short-form video content and messaging campaigns to see if a product is worth buying. According to a new Meta-commissioned study by GWI, which asked 2,548 internet users between the ages of 16 and 64, almost 8 in 10 shoppers discover new products via social media, with 98 per cent of these discoveries happening on Meta platforms like Instagram and Facebook. It also claims that before making a purchase, a large number of shoppers depend on online platforms for research instead of simply relying on displays in physical retail stores. Meghna Apparao, the director of e-commerce and retail at Meta India, said, 'Indian shoppers today are social-first, mobile-first and video-first, irrespective of whether the purchase happens offline or online.' With Indian consumers now resorting to Reels, messaging and influencers to find and evaluate new content, Meta has emerged as the go-to platform for businesses in the country to increase their sales. The study claims that short-form videos with a length of between two to three minutes and Reels are proving to be effective, as almost one-third of buyers make their decision based on whether a product is featured in a brand video. As it turns out, the trend applies mostly to luxury products, where viewers are highly influenced by short-form videos. Influencer marketing also happens to be one of the major reasons why retail action has increased in India. The Meta commissioned study suggests that 6 in 10 customers follow creators on different platforms, with the category having the biggest impact on both product discovery. Talking of WhatsApp, it looks like the instant messaging platform is playing an important role when it comes to buying new products, with almost 60 per cent of shoppers buying after coming across an offer on the platform. To keep up with consumer shifts, Meta says it recently added new 'omnichannel advertising capabilities', which help brands increase online engagement.
