SJ Suryah to don filmmaker's hat after 10 years
Director-turned-actor SJ Suryah, who has been busy as an actor for the past decade, is all set to begin the shoot of his next directorial — his first in 10 years, since Isai (2015) — which will go on floors in the city today.
The film, titled Killer , will be a romantic action comedy, he shares.
'Though it's titled Killer , it's not about psycho killer. It revolves around a hitman, and it will be a James Bond meets Kushi kind of film, with action, comedy and romance,' he tells us.
He adds, 'While most of the film will be shot in India, a significant portion will be filmed in Mexico.'
The filmmaker has been talking about wanting to make this project for quite some time. Delving into the script's origins, he says, 'I wrote the script during the lockdown, when there was hardly any disturbance around me. I wanted to come up with something that will work across the country, and I think I've managed to crack it. My dream has always been to earn a place for myself like MGR in cinema, and I feel this film will help take me to this place.
That is why I'm going to make this in five languages.'
