Samsung flexes its customization muscles with LockStar's new fingerprint unlock animations

Samsung is bringing some playfulness to the lock screen experience with the latest update to its LockStar module. Version 7.0.01.5 of the module targeted at One UI 8 introduces a handful of new fingerprint unlock animations that make unlocking devices super fun.
Reliable tipster Ice Universe first highlighted the new animations on X. These include: A water drop effect that ripples out from the fingerprint sensor
A ghost emoji with stars bursting out
A more minimalistic effect featuring circles around the scanner
A starburst effect that explodes upon unlocking
Users testing One UI 8 on the Galaxy S25 series are loving the new animations as they add a fun and personalized touch to the routine task of unlocking Galaxy phones.
While some users have tried sideloading the updated LockStar APK on devices running One UI 7, the animations reportedly don't function outside One UI 8.
This update is the latest example of Samsung's ongoing commitment to deep device customization through its Good Lock platform, a suite of official modules that let users tweak everything from lock screens and multitasking layouts to animations and theming.
LockStar is one of the most popular Good Lock modules, focusing on lock screen personalization. Samsung also recently updated its other Good Lock modules, including Home Up, MultiStar, and more, to support One UI 8.
Most Android brands lock users into UI experiences that can't be personalized to this extent. When on the hunt for an OLED TV, looking at today's model might make your head spin. Whether it be price or the amount of features on offer, there's a lot to consider, which is why I tend to recommend going with a model that's already a year old. You won't be missing out on too many major performance upgrades and you still get an incredible picture performance for the price, as is the case with the Samsung S90D. Right now, you can get the 65-inch Samsung S90D OLED TV for $1,399 on Best Buy. That's a $200 discount on one of my favorite 2024 OLED TVs that's built on serious value. It's no LG C4 OLED, but it packs a punch for all things gaming and visual entertainment. It's one of the best OLED TV deals right now. The S90D is one of Samsung's 2024 OLED TVs. The OLED TV features Samsung's new NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, HDR10+/HLG support, 120Hz refresh rate, four HDMI 2.1 ports, and built-in Alexa. It also offers 4K AI Upscaling to ensure all programs are crisp and sharp. On the audio front, you get Dolby Atmos and Object Tracking Sound Lite for 3D surround sound. 42" for $99977" for $1,99983" for $3,299 What makes the Samsung S90D OLED stand out is its positioning within the lineup. Plus, it has some incredible brightness, which works well in tamping down reflections. In our testing it hit 476 nits in standard content and 1,166 nits in HDR. While these numbers pale in comparison to Mini-LED TVs, these are still pretty good for an OLED — especially one that's in the middle of its lineup. Tizen OS is also one of my personal favorite TV interfaces. Other users might disagree, but it's seen some massive changes in the last year. It's packed with tons of free channels to enjoy, some of the best cloud gaming services, and streamlined settings menus. Samsung has also committed to updating its TV OS for up to seven years, which means the S90D will feel good as new all the way into 2031. Take it from me, if you're in the market for a sporty OLED with exceptional picture performance at an unbeatable price, the Samsung S90D is the one to go with. But don't wait, as this Beat Buy deal won't last for long.

Google is finally making it easier to add files to Private Space
While Android OEMs have offered the ability to hide or store files and apps in a private, hidden space for years, Google Pixel devices only recently gained this feature with the introduction of Private Space in Android 15. Though Android 16 didn't bring major upgrades to Private Space, one feature users have consistently requested since its debut is the ability to easily hide files within it. While installing apps into Private Space is simple, transferring files from your phone's file manager remains a hassle. Thankfully, it looks like that's about to change. According to Android expert Mishaal Rahman (via Android Authority), Google is working on a new file transfer feature for Private Space. In the latest Android Canary build, Google has reportedly tweaked how Private Space behaves. Previously, when opened in the Pixel Launcher, Private Space just showed an "Install" button at the top. However, in the new Android Canary build, this has now been replaced with a new "Add" button. Hiding files on your Pixel is about to get a lot easier Tapping the "Add" button opens a sub-menu that gives you the option to either "Install apps" or "Add files". Selecting the file option opens the Files by Google app, allowing you to choose the files you want to move to Private Space. A dialog box will let you choose whether to move or copy them. According to the report, the feature will support up to 2GB of files or 100 files per transfer. The feature isn't live just yet and likely won't be included in the Android 16 QPR1 update expected alongside the Pixel 10 series launch next month. Instead, Rahman suggests it could arrive with Android 16 QPR2, which is expected to roll out sometime after QPR1's stable release.
