White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. is struggling, but a change of scenery could give him a jolt. The 2023 All-Star and Silver Slugger was slashing just .177/.265/.281 with five homers and 24 RBI over 58 contests ahead of Tuesday's game vs. the Houston Astros, but he's only a year-and-a-half removed from a 38-home run season.
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said that teams are interested in Robert on Friday, via The Chicago Sun-Times' Vinnie Duber.
'[Teams are] expressing interest; they're continually doing that,' he said. 'We're not actively making phone calls on behalf of any player. Obviously, as you approach the trade deadline, that will pick up.'
Following this news, it was reported the Yankees are among the teams to watch regarding Robert, via MLB insider Francys Romero.

"Luis Robert Jr. continues to draw attention as a potential trade piece," he reported on Tuesday. "Teams like the Yankees, [Seattle] Mariners, and [Philadelphia] Phillies are expected to be in the conversation ahead of the trade deadline, according to industry sources."

Robert slashed .224/.278/.379 with 14 homers and 35 RBI across 100 games last season.
The 27-year-old would likely have to compete with Yankees center fielder Trent Grisham Jr. for playing time if they acquired him. The latter player was slashing .240/.344/.481 with 13 homers and 27 RBI through 56 games heading into Tuesday.
The 2025 MLB trade deadline is July 31 at 6 p.m. EST.

Florida State Lands Commitment from Four-Star Wide Receiver

Florida State Lands Commitment from Four-Star Wide Receiver originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Mike Norvell's Seminoles notched a big recruit today, earning a commitment from four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Recruits. Bennett had 25 offers and had visited Georgia before ultimately choosing to play in Tallahassee. Advertisement Bennett is ranked as the 33rd wide receiver in the Class of 2026, and the 218th recruit overall. This is the third wide receiver commitment for Florida State's 2026 recruiting class, as Bennett joins fellow Florida high school products Darryon Williams and Efrem White. Bennett is staying in-state for college, as the six-foot-tall receiver played his high school ball at American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. A two-sport athlete, Bennett is a star on the track in addition to the gridiron. A three-time state qualifier for the 100-meter dash and a two-time qualifier for the 200-meter, Bennett looks to be a speedy addition to Florida State's roster. "Decorated track athlete that can challenge defenses vertically with his speed and acceleration." said 247 Sports Analyst Andrew Irvins. Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell during the second half against the Clemson Tigers at Doak S. Campbell Myers-Imagn Images In his 2024 season at American Heritage, Bennett helped lead the school to a Florida 4A state championship. He totaled 24 catches for 509 yards and seven touchdowns for the season. Bennett also added a kickoff return touchdown in American Heritage's state championship game. Advertisement Bennett joins a 2026 recruiting class for Florida State that ranks 35th nationally and 11th in the ACC currently, according to 247 Sports. His commitment earns Florida State its second four-star for 2026 and its highest-ranking recruit for the class. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Yankees signed Brandon Leibrandt to a minor league contract last November, and invited the second-generation pitcher to spring training. The 32-year-old lefty made a good case to be part of the Yankees' bullpen, with a 2.19 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 12.1 spring innings. But ultimately he was reassigned to minor league camp, and assigned to Triple-A to start the season. More news: Veteran Pitcher Elects to Leave Yankees for Diamondbacks: Report With the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Leibrandt continued to impress. He had a 1-0 record and a 2.85 ERA through 10 games (nine starts), but still had not gotten a call to the majors when he was released Tuesday. Earlier Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported that veteran Anthony DeSclafani opted out of his minor league deal with the Yankees to sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks, whose bullpen is in shambles. More news: Mets Pitcher Leaves Game With Injury, Will Go On Injured List Leibrandt, the son of former major league pitcher Charlie Leibrandt, hasn't pitched in the majors since his two appearances for the Cincinnati Reds last season. Prior to 2024, Leibrandt's MLB experience consisted of five games with the Miami Marlins during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Now, if he intends to make it back to MLB, Leibrandt will have to go an ocean away to get there. More news: Nine-Time All-Star Pitcher Signs Days After Being Designated for Assignment It isn't uncommon for veteran major league pitchers who do not sign a major league contract as free agents to go the minor-league route in a quest to resuscitate their careers. Leibrandt will head to Taiwan, to a league where Chin-Hui Tsao, Nelson Figueroa, and Jerome Williams among others have revived their MLB careers. More news: Former Cy Young Award Winner to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery Despite his success in Triple-A, Leibrandt's path to innings in the majors was blocked, as noted by Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors. Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, Clarke Schmidt, Will Warren and Ryan Yarbrough are all healthy and relatively productive. Marcus Stroman and JT Brubaker are on injury rehabilitation assignments. Luis Gil, the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, is throwing bullpens as he prepares to rejoin the Yankees rotation. For more MLB news, visit Newsweek Sports.

Cam Skattebo's Lack of Pro Football History Knowledge Is Shockingly Bad

Cam Skattebo's Lack of Pro Football History Knowledge Is Shockingly Bad originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. In a Barstool Sports video that appeared on X, Skattebo was looking at photos of some of the NFL's greatest players on his phone and was asked to identify each by name. Advertisement Shockingly, the New York Giants rookie was 'scatterbrained' as he could not identify two Pro Football Hall of Famers: Calvin Johnson and Brett Favre. Johnson was later identified only after Skattebo received hints. In addition, Skattebo was unable to identify former Saints great Marques Colston, but was able to name Seahawks Legion of Boom safety Kam Chancellor. It is a good thing Skattebo was not looking at photos of ex-Giants running backs that came before him. How embarrassing would it be not to know your team's backfield history and recognize Tiki Barber, Joe Morris or Ottis Anderson? A fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, Skattebo took college football by storm last season, rushing for over 1,700 yards and a whopping 21 TDs. Skattebo's effectiveness inside the red zone is the reason he is fighting for a spot on the Giants roster. Advertisement Let us hope Skattebo learns the Giants playbook better than he knows NFL history.
