Min Sridhar Babu hails Brahmin Centre's social impact initiatives
Speaking as Chief Guest at a recent Atmiya Sammelan held at Telangana Brahmin Sadan, attended by members of the CBE and senior Brahmin leaders, Sridhar Babu commended the Centre's initiatives, particularly in mentoring civil service aspirants and expanding educational opportunities.
He acknowledged the contributions of retired IAS and IPS officers, administrators, and professionals who are voluntarily working with the CBE to uplift society. 'Our government will extend every possible support to strengthen this institution. We also plan to introduce skill development programmes in collaboration with Young India Skill University through the CBE,' he said.
Emphasising that real progress cannot be achieved in isolation, the Minister urged for collective responsibility and value-based unity. 'What we give to society returns to us manifold — not necessarily as wealth, but as fulfilment and goodwill,' he noted, encouraging the Brahmin community to invest in the next generation and rise above divisions with purpose and clarity.
In response to misinformation, Sridhar Babu firmly rejected claims targeting the Telangana Brahmin Samkshema Parishad. 'Let me clarify that our government is fully committed to its development. We have already allocated Rs 25 crore and will continue to provide further support. Our intent is sincere, and our focus is on the welfare of the Brahmin community,' he stated.
The Minister also appreciated philanthropic efforts, including CBE member Narendra Kumar Kamaraju of Praneeth Constructions, who sponsored six candidates under the Civil Services Mentoring Initiative. Recalling his own journey, Sridhar Babu said, 'Society respects us not for our financial power, but because we stand by dharma and collective welfare. Most of us are salaried individuals, but it is our moral strength that brings dignity.'

Rs 2,528 crore project: Cabinet approves 104-km freight corridor connecting Vadhavan Port with Mumbai-Nagpur E-way
The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for the construction of a 104.8-kilometre high-speed freight corridor connecting the upcoming Vadhavan Port in Palghar district with Bharvir in Nashik district, linking it to the Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway, officially named the Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg. The corridor, proposed as a strategic infrastructure link under the state's rapid logistics expansion plan, is expected to save nearly 79 km in travel distance and reduce commute time between the port and the expressway from 4–5 hours to just 1–1.5 hours. The project will be developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The Cabinet has approved a total outlay of Rs 2,528.90 crore, including a Rs 1,500 crore loan from HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation). The corridor is to be completed within three years. Currently, cargo from Vadhavan must travel via the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway, covering around 183.48 km to reach the Samruddhi corridor via Bharvir–Amne. With the new expressway, the distance will be reduced to 104.898 km, saving 78.582 km, officials said. The proposed expressway will pass through Dahanu, Vikramgad, Jawhar and Mokhada in Palghar district, and Trimbakeshwar and Igatpuri in Nashik district, offering a direct, fast-moving logistics link between the state's western coast and central and eastern Maharashtra. The Vadhavan Transshipment Port, being developed under the Sagarmala initiative by Vadhavan Port Project Ltd, is expected to serve as a major international cargo hub. To complement this, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is currently constructing a 32-km highway from the port to Tawa on National Highway 48, which will integrate into the larger freight corridor. At present, heavy cargo vehicles must take a longer detour from Bharvir–Amne to reach the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway, resulting in additional travel of nearly 82 km. The new corridor is expected to eliminate this inefficiency, enhancing fuel savings and turnaround times for goods transport. Officials said the corridor is being planned with future traffic volumes in mind. With anticipated high-volume freight movement from Vadhavan Port, particularly toward Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra, the expressway will play a vital role in decongesting existing routes and facilitating regional economic development. 'The expressway will benefit a wide range of stakeholders — from large and medium-scale industries to agricultural processing units, educational institutions, and IT parks in Palghar and Nashik. It will also help improve market access and generate local employment,' an MSRDC official said. The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is overseeing major infrastructure and connectivity initiatives in the state. Officials noted that the new corridor will function as a key logistics backbone, enabling affordable, fast, and efficient cargo transport from India's western maritime gateway to its heartland.

Rs948cr approved for acquisition of land for industrial units
Patna: In a bid to expand the state's land bank for industrial and production units, the state cabinet on Tuesday approved six proposals for the acquisition of private land in six districts, sanctioning a total of Rs 948 crore. The land will be acquired by the Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA). In addition, the cabinet cleared the free-of-cost transfer of two govt land parcels totalling 96.98 acres, both located in the Goradih circle of Bhagalpur district, to the industries department for the creation of a new industrial corridor. The permanent transfer was made by the revenue and land reforms department. Following cabinet approval, deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary said, "The industries department will develop a new industrial corridor on the land whose transfer has received cabinet sanction. The development of this corridor in Bhagalpur aligns with CM Nitish Kumar's vision to boost industrialisation in the state and revive Bhagalpur's industrial landscape." On the sanctioned land acquisitions, additional chief secretary of the cabinet secretariat Department, S Siddharth, said, "These are intended to expand the state's industrial area. In another move, the cabinet approved the leasing of identified land in Pirpainty block of Bhagalpur — originally earmarked for a solar power plant by Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited — to a private firm for establishing a thermal power plant through competitive bidding. The selected company will set up three thermal units of 800MW each, totalling 2,400MW of power. The land will be leased for Rs 1 per year for 33 years. Power will be supplied at Rs 6.08 per unit (including a fixed charge of Rs 4.165 and fuel surcharge of Rs 1.910), as approved by the Bihar State Electricity Commission. The cabinet also approved several welfare measures, including salary and honorarium hikes announced by the CM. Temporary sanitation workers will now receive Rs 5,000 per month, while sanitation inspectors will get Rs 9,000. Other approvals include Rs 10,000 per month for night guards at schools (effective from Aug 1), Rs 3,300 per month for midday meal cooks, Rs 8,000 for physical education teachers (with an annual increment of Rs 200), and Rs 16,000 for contractual health instructors (with a Rs 400 annual increment). Revised incentives for ASHA and Mamata workers were also cleared. In a major relief for students, the cabinet abolished the mandatory 75% attendance requirement for availing monetary assistance under various schemes. From the current financial year, assistance will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of eligible students in government and recognised private secondary and higher secondary schools via the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system.
