House Bill 29 was implemented by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles as of May 9.
The bill eliminates certain debt-related driver's license suspensions, waives reinstatement fees, and reduces long-standing penalties.
It limits the court's authority to impose suspensions for drug offenses with the following exceptions: OVIs and if the offender used a vehicle to facilitate the commission of a drug offense.

Chiefs insider gives ‘scary' Xavier Worthy warning

The post Chiefs insider gives 'scary' Xavier Worthy warning appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Kansas City Chiefs are currently gearing up for the 2025-26 NFL season, when they will look to bounce back from last year's Super Bowl humiliation at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. There have been questions in the last couple of years about the Chiefs' wide receiver room, but one beacon of hope in that department is rising second-year man Xavier Worthy out of Texas. Worthy had a strong rookie season overall last year, showcasing the elite speed that allowed him to be a top draft pick, and recently, Chiefs reporter Matt McMullen reported on how Worthy is also progressing as a route runner, which could be a 'scary' proposition for opposing defenses, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter. 'The 40 time, in my mind, was almost a bad thing for him in terms of how people perceived him because he gets lumped in with these track stars. He's very fast, but he's more than that,' said McMullen. Indeed, there are some players in the league known only as vertical threats due to their elite speed, but who lack much else in the way of skill or route running. Worthy appears determined not to be labeled as such during his NFL career. An emerging talent for the Chiefs The Chiefs will be relying on Worthy heavily this year as Travis Kelce continues to age and they deal with injury concerns with other wide receivers on their roster. There's also the legal element for fellow wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was recently sentenced to 30 days in jail for his role in a 2024 hit and run incident and will almost assuredly be given a suspension from the NFL at some point. However, the Chiefs do still employ someone by the name of Patrick Mahomes, who has a habit of bringing the best out of his wide receivers, even in years like the 2023 season when they set NFL records for dropped passes. In any case, the Chiefs are slated to get their 2025 season underway against the divisional rival Los Angeles Chargers on September 5 from Brazil. Billy Howton, Top Green Bay Packers Receiver in the '50s, Dies at 95

Billy Howton, a gifted wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers and two other teams who retired after the 1963 season as the National Football League's career leader in receptions and served as the first president of the players' union, but who decades later was sentenced to prison for financial fraud, died on Aug. 4 in Houston. He was 95. His son, William, confirmed the death, in a memory-care facility. Howton never played for a winning Packers team, but he distinguished himself as the team's leading pass catcher during his seven years in Green Bay. In 1952, when teams played a 12-game season, he led the N.F.L. with 1,231 receiving yards. It was the first time a rookie receiver had gained more than 1,000 in a season. In 1956, Howton broke Don Hutson's Packers record for receiving yards in a game when he caught seven passes for 257 yards — a record that still stands. The next year, he caught the first touchdown pass at City Stadium (now Lambeau Field). 'Howton was a tall Texan, quick and cocky, the sort who would return to the huddle and announce that he could get open on a deep fly pattern if only the quarterback could throw that far,' David Maraniss wrote in 'When Pride Still Mattered,' his 1999 biography of Vince Lombardi, who became the Packers' coach and general manager in 1959 and led the team to five N.F.L. championships in the 1960s, including victories in the first two Super Bowls. In 1956, Howton again led the league in receiving yardage, with 1,188 yards on 55 receptions, and was named an All-Pro for the first time. He earned that honor again the next season and was selected to play in the Pro Bowl four times. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

The 49ers Are Reportedly Bracing For Significant Suspension

The 49ers Are Reportedly Bracing For Significant Suspension originally appeared on The Spun. The hits keep coming. Already thin in their wide receiver room due to injuries, the San Francisco 49ers could reportedly be without another one of Brock Purdy's outside weapons for a handful of games. While the Niners tend to injuries regarding Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, Equanimeous St. Brown and rookie fourth-round pick Jordan Watkins — they're also dealing with an off-field situation concerning free agent signing Demarcus Robinson that could see the veteran wideout face a three-game suspension from the league office. Robinson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge last month stemming from an arrest last November where he was found with a BAC higher than 0.08 and an invalid driver's license. His attorney's at the time said that Robinson was taking the process "very seriously" with the expectation that his probation would terminate early and lead to the case ultimately being expunged. Speaking to the media on Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the incident and whether or not he'll be on the field to start the season. "There is an appeal process," Shanahan told reporters at the team's training camp (via ProFootballTalk). "I'm not sure how it's going. So, I always just plan for the worst and hope for the best. But he's done a good job here. We've really enjoyed him as a guy, knowing he won't be in there, most likely for those first few games. He'll play a lot more in the preseason, but hopefully we can shorten that with an appeal process." Roger Goodell and the NFL have historically been pretty tough on players when it comes to the substance abuse policy. And given the nature of Robinson's arrest, it's more likely than not that he faces at least a three-game ban. The 30-year-old Super Bowl champ signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the 49ers this offseason. Prior to his arrival in The Bay, he suited up for the Chiefs, Ravens and Rams.
