Former Alabama basketball player on Crimson Tide Final Four team reenters transfer portal

Walters averaged 12.3 minutes a night during his freshman season at Alabama, which saw Nate Oats' team beat No. 1 seed North Carolina in the Sweet 16 and No. 6 seed Clemson in the Elite Eight before falling to the national champion UConn Huskies in the Final Four. He averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game and shot 42.7 percent from the field in 37 games (no starts).
Walters scored 15 points in the Crimson Tide's 87-74 loss to then-No. 4 Arizona on Dec. 22, 2023 in Phoenix. He had 14 points and four 3-pointers in the Tide's 98-93 overtime victory over the Florida Gators at Coleman Coliseum on Feb. 21.
After transferring from Alabama, Walters played in 23 games this past season. He suffered a lower back injury and played his last game on Feb. 4. Walters averaged 12.7 minutes, five points and 1.6 rebounds per game at Michigan, which finished 27-10 and reached the NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed. The Wolverines lost, 78-65, to No. 1 seed Auburn in the Sweet 16 last Friday in Atlanta.
Walters, a 4-star recruit out of The Villages Charter School in Florida, committed to Alabama in 2023. He was the first player in Oats' 2023 class to commit to Alabama and was ranked the No. 68 overall recruit by On3 and No. 86 overall by 247Sports.
Walters joins former Alabama standout Rylan Griffen in the transfer portal. Griffen also entered the portal Monday.

Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Micah DeBose
While the Alabama Crimson Tide have an experienced starting offensive line cemented at every spot entering 2025, could talented true freshman Micah DeBose still make an impact regardless? A member of Alabama's 2025 recruiting class, DeBose joins the Crimson Tide as a prospect who ranked among the top in-state offensive linemen a year ago. Looking ahead to this season as well, could DeBose potentially make an impact, even despite a loaded offensive line room? Here is everything you need to know entering the freshman season of Alabama offensive lineman Micah DeBose. Micah DeBose player information Position: Offensive Line Jersey Number: No. 65 Height: 6'5 Weight: 319 Class: Freshman Hometown: Mobile, Alabama High School: Theodore Micah DeBose career stats DeBose will be entering his first season of college football this fall. The offensive lineman has yet to appear in a collegiate game. Micah DeBose 2024 stats DeBose spent his 2024 season as a senior at Theodore High School in Alabama. The freshman primarily played left tackle in high school. Micah DeBose recruiting ranking DeBose was considered the nation's No. 205 overall prospect in the 2025 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 11 interior offensive lineman nationally. A four-star prospect, DeBose committed to Alabama in June 2024, and was also considered the No. 13 player in the state of Alabama out of Theodore High School. Micah DeBose 2025 season outlook As we enter the 2025 season, DeBose is not projected to start for the Crimson Tide offensive line this fall. A prospect capable of playing at either guard or tackle, DeBose is likely cemented as a backup entering the fall. However, DeBose should still see some action in 2025, but likely only a few games during his true freshman season due to the experience ahead of him on the depth chart. Overall, expect DeBose to primarily serve as a backup this fall, one who could see time at either guard or tackle. Watch Ian Book's thoughts on Notre Dame football's quarterback room
If there is someone that knows what it's like being a multi-year quarterback starter at Notre Dame, its Ian Book. As the last one to do so, it was natural that he had thoughts on what transpired during the spring and into fall camp, as the Irish decided on CJ Carr over Kenny Minchey on Tuesday. Book joined The Echoes Podcast, with hosts Mike Golic Jr. and Jessica Smetana, and while it was released today, it seems like that segment was recorded before the news came out. Regardless of that fact, Book seemed extremely confident that whoever ultimately got picked to start by head coach Marcus Freeman could get the job done. He feels like they both have traits that will make the successful, as he explained 'their arm strength, arm angles, arm path, and ability to to throw off-schedule to me is pretty good.' Book did say later in the podcast that he's had a hard time judging talent due to his vantage point, he's so used to being behind a center, that watching from the sidelines or an odd angle is foreign to him. It would be interesting to get his thoughts on the choice now that it has been made. Hopefully we hear Book speaking about it soon.
