Horrified couple find live maggots in their Morrisons lunch

Leader Live2 days ago
A hungry couple were horrified to discover live maggots wriggling in their cheesy lunch - only for Morrisons to offer an 'insulting £3 compensation'. (Image: Kennedy News and Media) Recruitment firm consultant Cato, was "disgusted" by the discovery and immediately binned the £3 purchase.
The 54-year-old said she then contacted Morrisons' live chat service to inform them of the "gross" find - but was "insulted" to be offered just a £3 voucher for her bug troubles.
The couple have vowed never to buy their Brie from the supermarket chain again.
Cato, from Taunton, Somerset, said: "Sean stopped in the Morrisons Daily garage to grab some lunch for the day.
"We've never really shopped there before, we have Brie once in a while as a little treat.
"Sean said 'your lunch is ready and by the way I don't think we'll have [the Brie]'.
"I opened the Brie and thought 'what the heck? That is disgusting'. I stuck the brie in the bin but kept the wrapping.
"It must've been left out, it can't have been left properly in the fridge. Someone must've left it on the shelf and perhaps it's been left out.
"It's gross. I thought we should really let them know that that's not on. We could've easily eaten it.
"It wasn't anything to do with the brand, it was how it was kept outside the fridge."
Cato contacted Morrisons via their live chat service on Facebook to inform them of the issue, but was shocked when the retailer simply offered the couple a £3 refund.
Cato said: "I contacted Morrisons on Facebook message, asked what to do and said it's dangerous for other people.
"It was clear after numerous messages that I was talking to a bot. They offered a £3 voucher but I don't think it's about the money.
"I do feel like I've tried contacting them a couple of times. But I feel like they couldn't be bothered to take it seriously.
"The £3 refund was a bit of an insult. I just thought it was stupid really. I thought they would've taken it a bit more seriously.
"We won't be buying Brie from there again."

A Morrisons spokesman said: "We have been in regular contact with the customer to apologise for the delay while our franchise partner carried out its investigation.
"We are now confident this was an isolated incident but have been back in touch with the customer this week to offer them a further gesture of goodwill."
Président Cheese have been contacted for a comment.

Man strangled and decapitated girlfriend before pretending to be her to mum

Ewan Methven has been jailed for life (Picture: Police Scotland/PA Wire) A man has been jailed for a minimum of 23 years after stabbing his girlfriend to death and decapitating her. Ewan Methven murdered 21-year-old Phoenix Spencer-Horn at their home in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, in November of last year. Shortly after the couple ordered a takeaway to be delivered to their flat in Glen Lee, Methven stabbed his girlfriend 20 times, 10 times in the face, before mutilating her body and cutting off her head. For the weekend after he murdered her he searched for pornography online 170 times, tried to buy cocaine multiple times, drove around in Phoenix's car and texted her mother pretending she was still alive. Methven pleaded guilty to murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice at the High Court in Glasgow. Girl's chilling social media posts before she was charged with parents' murder

A teenage girl suspected of murdering her mum and step-dad shared several social media posts after their deaths that appear to show her devastation. Sarah Grace Patrick, 17, has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault following the shootings of Kristin Brock, 41, and James Brock, 45, in the US. After their deaths on February 20 Patrick posted several times on social media, speaking of her heartbreak and sharing selfies of herself crying. One TikTok post in March she shows pictures of the couple with emotional music and text that read: 'They don't know it, but a year from now me and my 5-year-old sister would find them wrongfully shot dead in our home – and they won't get to watch me graduate high school, see me walk down the aisle, or even say goodbye.' In a caption she wrote: 'I miss you guys, save a seat for me in heaven.' Patrick, who handed herself into police last week, also made a tearful eulogy at the couple's funeral that was filmed and shared online. James's niece Krysten Dowda said she thought at the time the crying seemed 'fake', with no actual tears. The Brocks were shot dead in their beds in their home in Carrollton, west of Atlanta. Police said there were no signs of forced entry and nothing appeared stolen. One of Patrick's TikToks show her with mascara running down her face and the words: 'Life's hard but at least I have my mom.' The post then cuts to photo of two urns beside a photo of Kristin and James with the caption 'Mom?' In another post she shares a picture of herself looking emotional with the text, 'This can't be real. Otw [on the way] to my parents funeral.' In a separate post she wrote about the anguish she said she feels over her sister finding the bodies. 'I can't help but hate myself because I didn't wake up to find them before my 5yo sister had to find her parents like that,' she says. In another she adds: 'It hits me when I see my 5-year-old sister screaming for her mommy and daddy.' In a number of her TikToks she pays heartfelt tributes to her mother. In one she says: 'I don't know if she ever realized… that the person I most wanted to be was her.' Her TikTok account was later deactivated, but the posts have resurfaced online. More Trending According to authorities, 'mountains of physical and digital evidence' led to Patrick being charge, including her eulogy at the funeral. Patrick's father Doniel Patrick was with her when she handed herself in and defended his daughter on Facebook. 'I'll always be in your corner,' he wrote, adding: 'Never dobt your place in this world. You were sent here with purpose, wrapped in grace and born to shine in ways only your soul knows how.' Patrick has been charged as an adult.
