Real purpose of education is to build a value-based society
Hyderabad: The three-day Akhil Bharatiya Prant Pramukh Baithak (All India State Head Meeting) of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal concluded on Sunday at Kanha Shanti Vanam in the city. The significant event saw the participation of 313 eminent educators from across the country, alongside over 30 Vice Chancellors from various universities and directors of nationally important educational institutions. The meeting was formally inaugurated by the Governor of Tripura, N Indrasena Reddy, and the valedictory session was addressed by Dr Manmohan Vaidya, former Sah Sarkaryavah (Joint General Secretary) and current All India Executive Committee Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Addressing the gathering during the valedictory session, Dr Vaidya emphasised the fundamental importance of values in life. He stated that values are the essence that truly makes a human, human, and that the real purpose of education is to build a value based society, which can guide the creation of a prosperous and strong India. He further added that while skills are attractive, it is values that inspire people and bring about real transformations. A skilled person attracts others, he said, but a person with values inspires and brings change in others' lives.
Dr Vaidya also highlighted the need for introspection and reflection in life, stating that a brief pause was essential for self contemplation and to gain clarity and momentum in one's work. He stressed that the spirit of giving more than taking is deeply rooted in Indian values and that unwavering commitment to these values can inspire society at large. If there is dedication to the nation and values in life, it becomes easy to find time for national work, he remarked.
The meeting was organised with the core objective of strengthening the Indian education system by integrating values, character building, and Indian culture into its fundamental principles. Over the three days, participants engaged in various intellectual sessions, dialogues, and workshops. These discussions focused on the Indian perspective on education, the inclusion of Indian ethos in educational policies, the necessity of value based education, and the crucial role of universities. This initiative by Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal represents a significant step toward making India's educational landscape fundamentally Indian, ensuring that future generations are not only knowledgeable but also culturally aware, ethical, and responsible citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (June 16, 2025) held delegation-level talks with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss a range of issues to boost the bilateral ties. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval were present during the talks. Mr. Modi is currently visiting Cyprus, the first leg of his three-nation tour. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades. Earlier on Monday (June 16, 2025), PM Modi was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III - the highest merit honour awarded in Cyprus, by President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. The Order of Makarios III, named after Makarios III, the first President of the Republic of Cyprus, is conferred upon heads of state and other people of significant status in recognition of meritorious service to the nation. 'Prime Minister embraced the honour as a renewed commitment to strengthening and diversifying the partnership between India and Cyprus. He emphasised that the award was a symbol of the unwavering commitment of the two countries to peace, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity,' Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press release. PM Modi expressed gratitude to President Christodoulides, the government and people of Cyprus for the honour. He stated that honour symbolises their unwavering commitment to peace, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity of people of two nations. Upon receiving the honour, PM Modi stated, 'President, for the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, I express heartfelt gratitude to you, the Government of Cyprus and the people of Cyprus. This honour is not just mine, it is the honour of 140 crore Indians. It is the honour of their capabilities and aspirations. It is the honour of our country's cultural brotherhood and the ideology of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.' I dedicate this honour to the friendly relations between India and Cyprus and our shared values and mutual understanding. On behalf of all Indians, I accept this honour with utmost humility and gratitude.' He further said, 'This honour symbolises our unwavering commitment to peace, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity of our people. I understand the significance of this honour and accept it as a responsibility towards the relations between India and Cyprus.' Deeply concerning that no questions by media, judiciary and opposition raised on Pahalgam attack: TMC' Abhishek Banerjee
New Delhi [India], June 16 (ANI): Months after the Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 26 innocent people, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee on Monday stated that it was 'deeply concerning' that no questions had not been raised by the mainstream media, members of judiciary and opposition on the attack. In a post on social media X, TMC MP Banerjee raised five questions before the Central government related to the Pahalgam attack. 'It has been over 55 DAYS since the PAHALGAM terror attack. It is deeply concerning that in a democracy neither the mainstream media, members of the opposition, nor the judiciary has stepped forward to raise these five critical questions before the Government of India. However, as a citizen committed to the nation's well-being and as a public representative entrusted with accountability, I raise these five questions before the Government of India,' the post read. Banerjee, in his post, questioned the accountability for a massive breach in national security, intelligence failure, the government's action towards the accountable terrorists, the government's compromise on the ceasefire and the financial assistance provided to Pakistan. In his post, Banerjee raised questions on how the four terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack managed to infiltrate the border and kill 26 innocent civilians. 'How did four terrorists manage to infiltrate the border and launch an attack that killed 26 innocent civilians? Where is the accountability for this massive breach in national security?' the post read. The TMC BJP questioned why the Government could not use spyware against terrorist networks and suspects. 'If the GoI can conveniently use PEGASUS spyware against opposition leaders(including me), journalists and even judges, what stops it from using the same tools against terrorist networks and suspects?' he wrote. Banerjee also questioned the government on why there had been no official response to US President Donald Trump's claims of persuading India to a ceasefire. 'Why hasn't the government officially responded to the U.S. President's claim that he persuaded India into a ceasefire with promises of trade - Just as the nation stood together irrespective of their cast, creed, religion and political affinity, celebrating the triumph of righteousness and saluting the valour and sacrifice of our armed forces? WHY WERE THE EMOTIONS OF 140 CRORE INDIANS DISREGARDED? What led to such a compromise?' he questioned. On April 22, terrorists attacked tourists at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam and killed 25 Indian nationals and one from Nepal, leaving several others injured. The Pahalgam attack is said to be one of the deadliest attacks in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike, in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. (ANI)

JKSA urges PM Modi for emergency evacuation of Kashmiri students from Iran amid conflict
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 16 (ANI): The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the urgent evacuation of Kashmiri students from Iran amid escalating tensions in the Iran-Israel conflict. 'We, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), write to you with deep urgency and grave concern regarding the dire situation faced by hundreds of Kashmiri students currently studying in Iran, following the unprecedented escalation in hostilities between Iran and Israel,' JKSA said in the letter. The JKSA urged the Prime Minister to direct External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take urgent steps to relocate the students to safer areas within Iran and initiate immediate evacuation efforts. This will provide much-needed relief and assurance to the distressed families back home, they said. 'Given the immediate risks and growing psychological toll, we urge your esteemed office to initiate urgent measures to protect and support these students. The situation demands not just monitoring, but real-time action,' the letter said. They requested the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of External Affairs to establish dedicated and responsive communication lines between Indian students in Iran and the Indian Embassy in Tehran, and to disseminate verified safety information, emergency guidelines, and updates. A clear chain of communication must be activated so that students are not left in the dark amidst chaos, they said. 'We also request the formulation and immediate preparedness of a comprehensive evacuation plan. If the situation continues to escalate or critical infrastructure comes under sustained attack, timely evacuation could be the difference between life and death. The Government of India must take proactive steps and remain ready to act swiftly to bring our citizens home safely,' the letter read. 'Furthermore, the Ministry should urgently coordinate with the Iranian government and relevant international agencies to ensure the protection and, if necessary, the safe passage of Indian students. Diplomatic intervention is critical to prevent the students from being caught in military crossfire or denied mobility due to sudden border or airspace closures,' the letter added. The JKSA said that the recent Israeli preemptive airstrikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure, followed by a barrage of retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Iran, have brought the region to the brink of a full-scale conflict. This volatile security environment has left thousands of Indian students, majority of them from Kashmir valley, extremely vulnerable and exposed to immediate danger. These students had traveled to Iran to pursue professional education, particularly MBBS, due to the country's economically viable academic infrastructure. Now, they find themselves in the middle of an active military zone, fearful for their lives, the letter said. (ANI) .
