Dougie Poynter teases Busted Vs. McFly tour will be 'very WWE'
Dougie Poynter has teased that the Busted Vs. McFly tour will be "very WWE".
The rival Noughties pop rock groups will hit the road this September and October for a run of gigs that will aim to discover which of the two are the better band.
McFly bassist Dougie says he and his bandmates - Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Danny Jones - will get extremely competitive with Busted's Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne and will be pouncing around like wrestlers.
Speaking to Guitar.com, he said of the preparations: 'Last week we started talking with our production people about how we actually want the show to flow and what kind of stupid stuff we can get away with.
'I think the nature of both of our bands, we can get away with doing some theatrical things every now and again. I mean we all play instruments, so there's only tiny moments, or like, 'How can one member get from one side of the arena to the other? Is there some sort of magic trick we can do?' It's very WWE, so we want to incorporate that as much as possible in the two teams.'
McFly and Busted - who previously became McBusted, when Tom, Danny, Harry and Poynter, joined Matt and James to form a supergroup - will begin their run of shows on September 16 in Birmingham.
Busted frontman Charlie previously joked McFly would be like a "support" act to Busted on the joint tour, just as they were during the 'Year 3000' hitmakers' 2004 gigs.
He quipped to The Sun: "We said, 'We don't want to go out again, but we will if we have to take you on. You can support us one more time, yes. Just like you did in 2004.'"
But McFly's Harry joked: "To be honest, these guys have obviously had their 20th anniversary and rinsed that and I think they're a bit short on ideas, so they needed us and we felt charitable."
As well as the arena tour, Busted and McFly will play Download Festival on June 13.

Cryptic contempt All eight episodes of Meghan's awaited lifestyle series With Love, Meghan debuted on Netflix on March 4 and appeared to be riddled with swipes. In one episode, the Duchess appeared to hint at her frustration towards the constraints of her former life and suggested she lacked 'creativity' during her brief stint as a working royal. In the trenches In April, Meghan opened up about the early days of her relationship with Harry in her first-ever podcast appearance with friend Jamie Kern Lima. Vexed over visions In the seventh episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, Prince Harry's wife was joined by Cassandra Morales Thurswell, founder of the beauty brand Kitsch, and the pair discussed all things business. They covered "how grit, intentional design, and a scrappy mindset were essential in transforming a humble start into a thriving global business". Speaking about balancing motherhood and business, Meghan appeared to take a swipe at the monarchy and her short stint as a working royal. 'Before I was a mum, I'm going to give a speech with a baby on my hip. I had a whole vision,' she said. 'Then you fast forward, granted I had a lot of external things happening by the time I had both pregnancies and (both) babies. 'But it was not the way (that) I envisioned it."

Turning four is a big deal and Meghan Markle is celebrating daughter Lilibet achieving the milestone with an Instagram blitz of intimate photos — and even a video of her and Prince Harry dancing in the delivery room on the day she was born. In an extraordinary insight into their private lives, the former senior royals can be seen in a viral TikTok-style video busting a move. Meghan and Harry are known to fiercely guard the privacy of Lilibet and Archie but appear to have changed their tune. Clutching her very pregnant belly and with an IV port in her left arm, in the video, Meghan looks calm and happy as she twerks to The Baby Momma Dance by Starrkeisha from 2013. The incident unfolded on Wednesday, when the 42-year-old heir apparent visited the Army Air Corps (AAC) in Wattisham, Suffolk. It marked William's first time touring the regiment since being named colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps, a position previously linked to Harry. 'The underlying issue is trust,' a royal insider told People this week. 'The King and William don't trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation.' Meanwhile, Prince Harry's relationship with his father remains frosty, with reconciliation said to be 'extremely unlikely' even as the King deals with health challenges. 'Prince Harry has blown all trust and any reconciliation with his father and the royal family for the moment,' a royal source said. As the royal family's divisions remain in the spotlight, William's offhand family remark has only fuelled speculation about just how deep the rift goes.
