
NBB Wins MEED's MENA Banking Excellence Awards in 2025
The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has once again reinforced its leadership within the Kingdom's banking landscape by securing two major accolades at the MEED MENA Banking Excellence Awards 2025. The Bank was named Best Retail Bank – Bahrain, and received top honours for Best Payment Ecosystem Integration for its flagship corporate banking platforms NBB DigiCorp and DigiConnect. Since launch, these platforms have driven notable growth in corporate client acquisition, transaction value, and transaction volume, owing to its intuitive design and robust mobile capabilities. Built on a scalable infrastructure, DigiCorp enables real-time treasury rate calculations, API connectivity and seamless host-to-host integration via DigiConnect reducing manual processes and improving operational efficiencies.

1,000 students join Injaz Bahrain's Young Entrepreneurs Competition
More than 1,000 students from local high schools and universities showcased their skills and talent at the 17th annual Young Entrepreneurs Competition hosted by Injaz Bahrain. The event, held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain under the patronage of Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of Injaz Bahrain, marked a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurial spirit and innovation among Bahraini youth. This year's competition carries added significance as Injaz Bahrain celebrates its 20th anniversary — marking two decades of empowering young minds and nurturing the kingdom's future business leaders. The event featured a diverse array of 20 student companies, with 10 each from high school and university and levels. The students participated in intensive assessments, team-building activities, and inspiration sessions over two days, culminating in a grand Awards Ceremony that recognised outstanding achievements across various categories. This year, the competition also introduced five signature awards to highlight exceptional achievements. These include the Excellence in ESG Award by Bapco Energies, Best Booth and Brand Award by BASREC, Rising CEO Award by bni, Best Financial Performance Award by CrediMax and Excellence in Technology Award by NBB. Distinguished individuals served as judges in both the High School Track and the University Track, including representatives from prominent organisations including Dana Alhaddad from Beyon; Eng Jassim Darwish from GPIC; Nezar Habib from stc Bahrain and Yasser Al Khaja from Investcorp Holdings in the High School Track; Abdulaziz Tawfeeqi from Infracorp; Ali Alaradi from BDB; Amin Sultan from Alba; and Marwa Aleskafi from Tamkeen in the University Track. Cash, celebration and a grand prize
TDT | Manama Al Baraka Islamic Bank marked Eid Al Adha with a celebration of loyalty and good fortune, awarding its June Grand Prize worth USD 120,000 and naming 50 additional winners of Eid cash rewards under its Al Barakat Investment Account programme. The headline prize, structured as a monthly salary of USD 10,000 for one full year, went to Mr. Sayed Hadi Mohsen Alawi. His name was drawn in a public raffle held at the bank's Bahrain Bay headquarters, where customers, auditors, and officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce were present. Branch visitors also took part in the process by helping randomly select winners. Banking with rewards Alongside the main winner, 50 Al Barakat customers received Eid Al Adha cash prizes of USD 500 each. The festive timing and scale of the draw underscored the Bank's message of inclusivity, customer appreciation, and community celebration. Chief Retail Officer Mazin Dhaif noted that the Al Barakat Account continues to turn clients' savings into opportunities. He described the prize scheme as more than a financial reward, calling it 'a life-enhancing tool' that reflects the Bank's commitment to rewarding loyalty through Shari'a-compliant savings. Largest prize pool With a total prize pool of USD 4 million in 2025, the Al Barakat scheme stands as the largest of its kind in Bahrain's Islamic banking sector. The Al Barakat Investment Account is available via the Bank's mobile app with a minimum deposit of BD 50 or USD 135. Accounts can also be opened for minors through a legal guardian. NBB launches Digital Platform for faster trade
TDT| Manama The National Bank of Bahrain has rolled out a fully digital Supply Chain Finance platform designed to modernise trade payments and help businesses improve working capital management. The new system automates the traditionally manual processes between buyers and suppliers, enabling faster transactions and improved financial efficiency across the supply chain. Automation advantage Enabled by the DigiCorp platform, the solution allows suppliers to receive early payments on approved invoices, while buyers benefit from optimised cash flow cycles and reduced paperwork. NBB said the technology helps eliminate administrative bottlenecks, offering quicker turnaround times and more transparent financing. The system's end-to-end automation marks a shift in how businesses in Bahrain and the wider region manage their trade relationships, especially as digital transformation becomes a core focus in banking and finance. Supporting real economy Hisham Al Kurdi, Group Chief Executive – Markets & Client Solutions at NBB, said the launch reflects NBB's ongoing mission to deliver digital-first services that empower businesses. 'This platform enhances operational agility and helps our clients better manage liquidity across their ecosystems,' he said. Vineet Munot, Group Head of Transaction Banking, added that the platform strengthens NBB's position in trade finance and cash management. 'It reinforces our role as a market leader in delivering smart, connected banking solutions,' he noted. Focus on SMEs The platform offers significant value for SMEs, providing early access to cash without requiring additional borrowing or new credit lines. Buyers can also use the platform to strengthen ties with strategic suppliers by offering timely, automated payments.
