(USAII) Conference 2025 kicks off today in Bahrain, in collaboration with NGN
The event serves as a pivotal platform for addressing cutting-edge developments, identifying emerging challenges, and exploring strategic opportunities within the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.
In the keynote address, Dr. Milton Mattox, Chief Executive Officer of the United States Artificial Intelligence Institute (USAII) and an internationally recognized authority in AI strategy and transformation, expressed sincere appreciation for hosting the event in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The speech highlighted Bahrain's emergence as a vibrant regional hub for tech innovation and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in harnessing artificial intelligence to advance economic and social development.
Dr. Mattox noted that the conference aims to foster global dialogue and cooperation on the responsible and effective application of AI to confront future challenges and generate meaningful progress.
The speaker line-up showcased a distinguished group of experts driving progress in the field of artificial intelligence. Featured speakers included Mr. Amr Hariri, Managing Director of ITMEA; Dr. Amal Shaheen, a strategist in AI and organizational performance, academic and leadership coach, and holder of a PhD in AI and Machine Learning; and Dr. Abdulkarim Katbi, a leader in AI and digital infrastructure, PhD holder in AI, and an expert in digital transformation.
Additional contributions came from Dr. Fadheela Hussain, an AI and cybersecurity expert and assistant professor with a PhD in Computing and Information Sciences; Mr. Ali Awadh, a senior expert in telecommunications and digital solutions; and Mr. Mohamed Buallay, a leading figure in geo-economic intelligence.
Each speaker delivered valuable insights into emerging trends, breakthrough innovations, and practical applications that are actively shaping the global artificial intelligence landscape.
On this occasion, Mr. Yaqoob Al Awadhi, CEO of NGN International, expressed pride in partnering with the United States Artificial Intelligence Institute (USAII) to co-host this prominent event, and emphasized the critical role of knowledge exchange and strategic dialogue with global thought leaders in accelerating the adoption of advanced AI technologies across various sectors.

Seef Properties reports Bd2.7 Million Net Profit Attributable to shareholders of the parent for the six-month period ended 30 June 2025
Seef Properties B.S.C. (Bahrain Bourse Trading Code: SEEF) announced its financial results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2025 and six months period ended 30th June 2025. The Company reported a net profit and comprehensive income attributable to the parent of BD 1.5 million during the second quarter of 2025, compared to BD 1.7 million for the same period of the previous year, a decrease of 13.3%. The change is attributable to increased market competition and economic fluctuations. Diluted earnings per share attributable to the parent for the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 3 Fils, compared to 4 Fils for the same period the previous year. The Company's operating profits stood at BD 2.9 million for the second quarter of 2025, compared to BD 3.2 million for the same period in the previous year, a decrease of 9.3%. The Company reported a net profit and comprehensive income attributable to the parent of BD 2.7 million for the six-month period ended 30th June 2025, compared to BD 3.1 million for the same period last year, a decrease of 12.9%. Basic and diluted earnings per share attributable to the parent for the six months period ended 30th June 2025 amounted to 6 fils, compared to 7 fils for the same period of the previous year. The Company reported a decrease in operating profit for the period ended 30th June 2025 by 10.4%, reaching BD 5.8 million, compared to 6.5 million for the same period of the previous year. Revenues for the period ended 30th June 2025 decreased by 9.7%, reaching 7.5 million, in comparison with the BD 8.3 million reported in the same period last year. The Company's total equity (after excluding the equity attributable to minority) for the second quarter of 2025 decreased by 0.9%, reaching BD 160.4 million, compared to BD 161.8 million for the same period in the previous year. Total assets for the second quarter decreased by 1.4 %, reaching BD 174.7 million compared to BD 177.1 million for the same period in the previous year. Commenting on these results, Seef Properties Chairman, Mr. Essa Mohamed Najibi stated: 'Our strategy continues to focus on diversifying our portfolio and enhancing the performance of our existing assets. Bahrain's Oil and Environment Minister Praises Petroleum Engineers' Role in Advancing National Expertise
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Bahrain's Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Eng. Abdullah Al-Zuwaidi, Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) – Bahrain Section, to discuss ongoing collaboration and support for the Kingdom's energy sector. During the meeting, the Minister commended the important role played by the society in developing national talent and providing advanced technical expertise to the oil and gas industry. He noted that the SPE's contributions are aligned with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, and help position the Kingdom as a regional hub for knowledge and technology in the energy sector. Dr. bin Daina reaffirmed the ministry's continued support for the society's events, initiatives, and programs, which foster stronger cooperation between government institutions and professional organizations, and contribute to enhancing the efficiency and technical skills of the industry's workforce. The two sides also reviewed the society's key achievements in 2024 and discussed upcoming scientific and professional events planned for the rest of the year. For his part, Eng. Ethical AI Gets Bahrain Boost
TDT | Manama Bahrain has formally launched a national artificial intelligence (AI) policy and an ethics charter rooted in shared Gulf values, becoming the first country in the region to define AI governance through a blend of local legislation and cultural identity. Announced by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) through its official website, the policy was launched in line with directives from His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology. The policy aims to ensure that AI technologies are used responsibly, ethically, and in line with the country's long-term development goals, including Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Governance and Growth Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, stated that the new framework seeks to promote economic and social development, enhance government efficiency, and raise Bahrain's competitiveness by unifying AI-related initiatives and embedding ethical safeguards into all implementations. The policy outlines clear compliance with national laws such as the Personal Data Protection Law, State Documents and Information Protection Law, and Open Data Policy. It also places strong emphasis on educating national cadres and raising awareness about AI's role in sectors like health, education, and public services. 'Through this initiative, we aim to build community trust in modern technologies while advancing digital transformation,' Al Qaed said. Ethical Foundations Complementing the policy, the newly adopted 'Guiding Charter for Artificial Intelligence Ethics' sets out core principles aligned with Islamic law and national identity. Approved by the GCC Ministerial Committee for eGovernment, the charter reinforces values such as human dignity, sustainability, privacy, fairness, and justice. The ethics charter rests on four pillars: supporting human autonomy, ensuring system integrity, preventing harm, and promoting non-discrimination. It also seeks to strengthen Gulf cooperation through knowledge exchange and shared digital standards. Stakeholder Engagement The policy is directed not only at government agencies and digital service providers but also at legislators, academics, and the broader public. It encourages AI literacy, training programs, and local-international partnerships to build a more informed and innovative society. By aligning AI development with local legislation and Gulf identity, Bahrain positions itself as a regional leader in ethical and strategic AI governance.
