The fourth season of the
International League T20
(ILT20), one of the fastest-growing franchise T20 competitions globally and the second-most watched T20 league in the world, will commence on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, coinciding with
UAE National Day
(Eid-Al-Etihad). The season will run until Sunday, January 4, 2026, with 34 high-stakes matches featuring some of the top T20 players from around the world.
The decision to shift the tournament from its traditional January-February window comes in the wake of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, scheduled for February-March 2026. The new dates were finalised after detailed consultations with stakeholders to ensure that
ILT20 Season 4
is completed well in advance of the global showpiece, allowing players ample preparation time for their international duties.

Khalid Al Zarooni, chairman of ILT20 and vice-chairman of the
Emirates Cricket Board
, highlighted the significance of launching the season on the UAE's most celebrated national holiday: 'We are delighted to confirm that the International League T20 Season 4 will commence on the UAE National Day – Eid-Al-Etihad – which is one of the most important days on the UAE calendar.
'The UAE National Day is a celebration of our diverse and vibrant nation, home to millions of cricket fans. It is a real honour for us to mark this occasion by launching the region's biggest T20 league on the same day.'
David White, CEO of ILT20, reiterated the strategic value behind the revised tournament window:
'Following extensive discussions with all our stakeholders, we believe the 2 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 tournament window is ideal. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup begins in early February, hence it was crucial for us to finish ILT20 Season 4 ahead of that event.
'This will allow dual-participating players the time to transition into national commitments. Furthermore, this window ensures we can access a broader player pool, many of whom might have scheduling conflicts during the World Cup build-up.'
White also lauded the success of ILT20 Season 3, which delivered blockbuster cricket and massive engagement across platforms: 'Season 3 was a big success with outstanding broadcast and digital numbers. The fans enjoyed a noticeable step-up in the quality of cricket.
'The final, in particular, was a thriller, with Dubai Capitals narrowly edging out Desert Vipers in the last over in front of a packed Dubai International Stadium on 9 February 2025. We are now focused on building on that success and delivering an even better tournament in Season 4.'

ILT20 has already established itself as a premier destination for international talent. Season 3 featured a galaxy of global T20 stars including Nicholas Pooran, Sam Curran (Player of the Tournament – Red Belt winner), Shai Hope (Green Belt – Most Runs), Fazalhaq Farooqi (White Belt – Most Wickets), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Jason Holder, David Warner, Alex Hales, Shimron Hetmyer, Matthew Wade, Tim Southee, Adil Rashid, and Adam Zampa among others.
The league's unique belt system for top performers has also caught the attention of fans, adding an extra layer of competitiveness and recognition to the tournament.
With six teams set to battle it out once again over 34 matches, Season 4 promises intense action, star power, and continued growth for a league that has quickly become a fixture in the global T20 landscape.
As the countdown begins, cricket fans in the UAE and across the world can expect fireworks both on and off the field when ILT20 returns this December.

Indian Archers Fail To Reach Medal Rounds At Archery World Cup Stage 3
Last Updated: Indian compound archers faced disappointment at the Archery World Cup Stage 3, failing to reach medal rounds. Indian compound archers faced disappointment at the Archery World Cup Stage 3, as none succeeded in reaching the medal rounds in the individual and mixed categories on Friday. India, who secured second place behind South Korea with two gold, one silver, and four bronze medals at the previous stage in Shanghai, have yet to claim any medals here. Madhura Dhamangaonkar, the fourth seed and last World Cup winner, was eliminated in the quarterfinals by fifth-seeded Mariana Bernal of Mexico, losing 152-159 in the women's individual section. Mariana maintained consistency throughout, while Madhura struggled to find her rhythm after scoring 29 out of a possible 33 in the opening round. World champion Aditi Swami also fell in the last-eight stage, losing 147-152 to Mexico's second-seeded Andrea Becerra. In the men's section, 13th seed Rishabh Yadav was defeated 149-157 in the quarterfinals by 28th seed Nicolas Girard of France. Yadav had previously edged out senior teammate Abhishek Verma 157-154 in the pre-quarterfinals. World champion Ojas Deotale suffered a surprising first-round exit, losing 157-161 to USA's James Lutz. India's hopes were further dampened in the compound mixed team event, as Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Rishabh Yadav lost 160-163 to their Estonian rivals. This result marked a disappointing follow-up to their bronze-medal finish in the mixed pair event at the previous World Cup leg in Shanghai. The recurve mixed team fared even worse. Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara were knocked out in the opening round, losing 2-6 to Kazakhstan in a closely contested four-setter (38-40, 41-37, 37-38, 39-40). The Indian archers seemed to struggle with the new scoring rule implemented at this stage. Starting with the Antalya leg, the 'X' ring, the innermost circle, now counts as 11 points, increasing the perfect score per round (three arrows) from 30 to 33. Earlier on Thursday, India also crashed out of the team events in both the recurve and compound sections. With their team events campaign ending in disappointment, India will now look to the recurve individual events starting on Saturday. All eyes will be on former world youth champion Parth Salunkhe and seasoned campaigner Deepika Kumari, both of whom returned with bronze medals from Shanghai last month. Uzbekistan, Jordan Qualify For 2026 FIFA World Cup; China Eliminated
Three additional Asian teams have secured their spots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the latest round of qualifiers. Uzbekistan and Jordan will make their tournament debuts, while South Korea has extended its streak to 11 consecutive appearances. Conversely, China has been eliminated with one match remaining. Uzbekistan clinched its place with a goalless draw against the United Arab Emirates in Group A. This result was sufficient for the Central Asian team, featuring Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Roma forward Eldor Shomurodov, to become the fifth team to qualify for the tournament, joining Japan, New Zealand, Iran, and Argentina. In the same group, Qatar, the host of the 2022 World Cup, narrowly defeated 10-man Iran 1-0. Both Qatar and the UAE will advance to the playoffs, where two additional World Cup spots will be contested, according to Xinhua. In Group B, Jordan made history by qualifying for its first World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Oman. South Korea, a regular participant on the world stage, secured a 2-0 away win against Iraq to maintain its perfect run since 1986. Iraq will join the playoffs, while the final playoff spot from the group will be decided between Oman and Palestine, who face off in the final round. China's slim hopes were extinguished in Group C after a 1-0 defeat to Indonesia in Jakarta. Ole Romeny converted a penalty just before halftime to secure the win and send Indonesia to the playoff round, while China was left to reflect on another unsuccessful campaign. Bahrain also exited contention following a 2-0 loss to Saudi Arabia. In another match, Australia claimed a 1-0 victory over Japan in Perth, positioning itself strongly to secure a direct berth from the group. The Socceroos lead Saudi Arabia by three points and have a +8 goal difference advantage heading into the final round. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19, with 48 teams competing across 48 venues. (With IANS Inputs)
