
TAAI launches
'The primary purpose of this campaign is to promote J-K as a safe tourist destination and support local livelihood. Around 75 travel company heads from across India are participating in the campaign,' said Sunil Kumar, the president of The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI).
'We are committed to the revival of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. As the President of TAAI, I recall our successful convention in Srinagar in 2018, attracting 700 agents from across India and transforming the region. Following the recent Pahalgam incident, we couldn't remain silent. We've launched the 'Rally for Valley' campaign to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir again, ' added Sunil Kumar, President of TAAI.
The group will visit tourist destinations like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonmarg to gather feedback from local tourism stakeholders. The association will submit reports to the Tourism Minister, and each state member will share insights with their local governments.
Sunil Kumar, President of TAAI, emphasised the potential of Kashmir as a tourist destination, stating that the 2018 convention in Srinagar generated significant interest among travel agents and tourists alike.
He added, 'We want to tell the world that Jammu and Kashmir are safe places to visit. We believe this is a big opportunity and responsibility for us. People seek holidays to escape stress, routine, and boredom, and TAAI aims to encourage them to choose Kashmir over other destinations, ' said Sunil Kumar. (ANI)

Mumbai to host waterways to wonder cruise tourism conference on August 18
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 17 (ANI): The Mumbai Port Trust, in collaboration with the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and the Indian Ports Association (IPA), will host a conference titled 'Waterways to Wonder: Unlocking Cruise Tourism' on Monday, August 18, in Mumbai. The NAVIC Cell, established by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), focuses on promoting tourism across ocean, river, and lighthouse sectors, as well as ferry objective is to position India as a global hub for cruise tourism by developing integrated ocean and river cruise circuits, the release further conference will also feature a dedicated session by the NAVIC Cell 4 showcasing achievements and recent reforms in cruise tourism and ferry services. IWAI, under the Government of India, has been instrumental in developing inland water transport systems, promoting river cruises, and implementing tech-enabled, sustainable infrastructure across waterways.A panel discussion will include key industry leaders and experts such as Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director, IPA; AK Bansal, Chief Engineer, IWAI; Opesh Sharma, Director (Cruise), MoPSW; Vikas Malviya, Director, Nordic Cruiseline Private Limited; and representatives from Antara Cruises/Heritage River Journeys Private Limited, along with other river cruise panel will explore the operational and commercial aspects of cruise tourism in India, with a focus on enhancing passenger experience and streamlining infrastructure event will conclude with a presentation on India Maritime Week 2025, scheduled for October. Indias tourism sector set to cross $59 billion by 2028: Capitalmind PMS
New Delhi [India], August 17 (ANI): India's tourism sector is witnessing a rapid growth surge, with projections indicating the industry will generate over Rs 5,12,356 crore (USD 59 billion) by 2028, according to a new report released by Capitalmind PMS. The report cites rising disposable incomes, enhanced connectivity, and infrastructure improvements as key growth tourism is expected to double from 2.5 billion visits in 2024 to 5.2 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 13.4 per the report highlighted that India's tourism and hospitality sector, while a key GDP driver, still trails global peers–2 per cent below the US and 4 per cent below Thailand in contribution to per the report, domestic visitor spending is projected to reach Rs 33.95 trillion by 2034, up from Rs 14.64 trillion in 2023, reflecting a CAGR of 7.9 per cent, per the WTTC's Economic Impact Research air passenger traffic is also set to more than double from 307 million in FY24 to 693 million by FY30, the report added. In 2023, Domestic Tourist Visits (DTVs) increased by 44.98 per cent year-on-year to 2.5 billion. Uttar Pradesh led with 478.53 million visits, followed by Tamil Nadu at 286.01 million. Maharashtra and Gujarat saw the highest number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs), at 3.39 million and 2.81 million, FTAs reached 18.89 million in 2023, a 5.47 per cent increase over the pre-pandemic peak in 2019. Key source markets included South Asia (29.02 per cent), North America (21.82 per cent), and Western Europe (20.40 per cent).The hospitality sector in India currently has 3.4 million hotel keys, of which only 11 per cent fall under the organized sector. Luxury hotels account for 17 per cent of branded properties, highlighting a significant demand-supply gap in premium offerings. Average occupancy in the luxury segment stands at 60-70 per cent, with Total Revenue per Available Room (TRevPAR) 117 per cent higher than upscale and 298 per cent higher than midscale aviation market has expanded significantly, with 148 operational airports in 2024, aiming for 220 by 2027. Scheduled flights reached 1.3 million in 2024, a 77.7 per cent increase over the past MICE events, and luxury F&B have emerged as strong revenue streams. In late 2023, 3.8 million weddings generated INR 4.74 lakh crore. India sees around 10 million weddings annually, making it the second-largest wedding industry travel is also driving demand, with gross office leasing reaching a record 89 million square feet in 2024. Himachal: Surya Spiti bike rally concludes amidst the majestic Himalayas
Lahaul-Spiti (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 16 (ANI): In a spectacular salute to 78 years of India's Independence, the Surya Spiti Bike Rally reached its grand conclusion on Saturday with a vibrant flag-in ceremony at Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh. According to a release, the event was organised under the aegis of Surya Command, the rally celebrated unity, adventure and national pride, reflecting the unwavering spirit of the Indian Army and the people of the past four days, 78 riders, symbolising each year of India's freedom, navigated over 400 kilometres of rugged Himalayan landscapes from Shimla to Lepcha. The route included strategic high-altitude passes such as Shipki La and Lepcha and passed through culturally rich frontier villages like Nako, Giu and Tabo. Along the way, the rally promoted national integration, border tourism and military-civil harmony, the release stated. A defining moment of the journey came on the morning of August 15, when troops of the Tripeaks Brigade proudly hoisted the National Flag at Lepcha on the Indo-China border. This symbolic gesture honoured the sacrifices of those guarding the nation's frontiers and reaffirmed the spirit of freedom, resilience and flag-in ceremony was marked by enthusiastic participation, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of unity. More than a rally, the Surya Spiti bike expedition became a moving testament to India's strength in diversity, its commitment to connecting with its most remote regions and the steadfast dedication of the armed forces to safeguarding the nation's unity and integrity.
