Pep Guardiola launches new side hustle as Man City boss admits ‘people are waiting for me to fail'

PEP GUARDIOLA has launched a new side hustle to prepare for life down the road after Manchester City.
The legendary boss has channelled his energy into positive vibes and wellness after missing out on silverware for only the second time in his incredible 17-year career last season.

Guardiola, 54, has gone into business with a DOCTOR and a therapist in Barcelona, his home base where he spends time with family during rare stints of time off.
The Etihad gaffer has put his cash and image behind high-performance recovery facility called the Monarka Clinic, which opened its doors last month.
The clinic is located at a prime address in Barcelona, right on the historic Passeig de Gràcia, an avenue that hosts some of Spain's most pricey real estate.
Days after a shock exit from the Club World Cup last-16 to Al-Hilal in June, Guardiola told GQ: 'I'm a big investor in large projects."
The Premier League manager got lapped into the Monarka Clinic through a chance meeting in unfortunate circumstances.
He had been treated by one of the creators Dr Mireia Illueca after suffering from a slipped disc in his back a few years ago.
Guardiola explained: 'I had a back problem and she fixed it, and since then we've gotten to known each other and become very close.
'She told me about the clinic and her project, about the things she wants to do. As I've always believed that sport, health and wellness are all fundamental, she asked me: 'Why don't we work together?'

'And I replied, 'Why not?' And here we are. I'm not going to cure anyone, but I'll keep her company while she does. I've already been doing that for a while.'
Dr Illueca is a neurosurgeon and expert in regenerative medicine and pain management, while co-owner Montse Escobar is a psychologist who specialises in identifying the emotional root causes of physical ailments.

Meanwhile, Guardiola debuted a brand new clean shaven look while visiting to the clinic last month - ditching his usual beard for a striking moustache.
Guardiola thinks the clinic can help both the general public and professional athletes in dealing with physical pain through mental methods.
So people are waiting for me to fail? Yes, yes, I'm sure that's true.

He even half-joked that being City boss has taken years off his life when he said: 'Quite a few, especially if things are going badly.
'As I am now I'm 75 years old! I'm a wreck, everything hurts right now.
'So, if it's my biological age… maybe if I take the test, I'll come out younger. I hope to be better than I am now in a while.

'A friend of mine, who I think defined me very well, once told me that I have three states as a person: euphoric, depressed, and absent. Those are my three states.
"So the point is to try to stay in the middle of these three.'
The Spaniard is desperate to restore City back to the top when the Prem kicks off this month, after a record spell of four league titles in a row ended in failure last season.
While speaking to GQ, he later agreed with the notion that people are "waiting for him to fail" after years of domination.
When quizzed, Guardiola said: "So they're waiting for me to fail? Yes, yes, I'm sure that's true. And I'm delighted to see them too. Delighted.
"That gives you energy. In competition, you need people to say to you: 'Really? We'll see about that.'
"They were the ones who said: 'He won't be able to do it in Germany, he was at Barcelona because of who he knew,' and 'In England, you'll see, English football is different.'
"Well, no. We did it. And then we did it again and again. Do things sometimes go wrong? Of course they do."
City open their Premier League campaign against Wolves at the Etihad on August 16.

Aussie mum-of-two's sudden death on Greek island baffles loved ones

An Australian mother-of-two who started convulsing and then died just two days into a five-week trip is being mourned by her devastated loved ones. Queensland woman Emma Sophios, 47, had planned to spend over a month relaxing with her family on the Mediterranean island of Cythera. But two days into her trip, the IGA worker suddenly started convulsing after she lay down to rest at a family member's home. Her loved ones frantically called paramedics, but she sadly couldn't be saved. 'She landed over there... laid down at the family house, laid down and that's it,' her partner Evalyn Hart, also 47, told the Daily Mail. Ms Hart said the mother-of-two had experienced health issues in the past but that her death had come as a total shock to her friends and family. Ms Sophios had dedicated her life to raising her 22-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son, who battles primary lymphoedema in his face. The genetic condition can cause swelling in various parts of the body, including the face and neck, and occurs when the lymphatic system doesn't develop properly. 'She was a bit of a centrifuge in their lives, and selfless in her own life. She worked at the IGA as a checkout person and lots of customers adored her,' Ms Hart said. 'She was a glowy, warm person who remembered people's stories and remembered little details of their lives. She had a gravity.' Her former partner and father of her two children, Robert George, also paid tribute. 'Though Emma and I went our separate ways in life, she will always hold a profound place in my heart for the incredible role she played in bringing our children into this world. Her passing is an unthinkable loss,' he wrote. Friend Kendyll Rivers wrote: '(Ms Sophios), a shining light in the lives of those who knew her, left this world far too soon. (It) was supposed to be a rejuvenating getaway to Greece, fate had other plans.' Ms Rivers has organised a GoFundMe for Ms Sophios' family. '(It) aims to support Emma's family during this unimaginably difficult time, covering funeral expenses and providing comfort as they navigate their profound loss,' she wrote.

Dodgers activate Max Muncy, place Tommy Edman on IL

August 5 - The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder Max Muncy from the injured list but also placed infielder Tommy Edman on the IL on Monday. Muncy, 34, has been sidelined since injuring his left knee during the Dodgers' game against the Chicago White Sox on July 2. Playing at third base, Muncy attempted a leaping catch to snare a throw from catcher Will Smith as Chicago's Michael A. Taylor tried to steal the bag. Taylor's helmet collided with Muncy's leg, and the Dodger immediately collapsed to the ground and clutched his knee. A follow-up MRI, however, revealed no structural damage. Muncy made five rehab appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he recorded five hits, including a home run, in 15 at-bats. He has played in 81 games this season for the Dodgers, recording a .250 batting average, 13 homers and 55 RBIs. The 30-year-old Edman landed on the 15-day IL with a right ankle injury for the second time this season after spraining it in Sunday's game at the Tampa Bay Rays. The 2024 NLCS MVP was hitting .228 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 86 games this season, his second with Los Angeles. Edman suffered a similar injury against Boston last week and previously spent May 3-17 on the injured list with right ankle inflammation. --Field Level Media
