‘The Office' star Brian Baumgartner on what he really thinks of ‘The Paper' spinoff – and if he'd join

They're moving offices. Brian Baumgartner is all for the 'Office' spinoff 'The Paper' — even if Kevin Malone and his famous chili aren't involved. 'We have heard from Greg Daniels, the creator, about it. I saw the the the trailer just was launched a few days ago. I thought the trailer was fantastic. I'm really excited to watch it,' Baumgartner, 52, exclusively told The Post. 7 Brian Baumgartner in his video interview with the New York Post. Samuel Adams Baumgartner played the eccentric Kevin in 'The Office,' starring in the hit NBC show from 2005 to 2013 alongside Steve Carrell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fisher, Mindy Kaling, and more. 'The Paper' (premiering Sept. 4 on Peacock) will be a mockumentary in a similar style to 'The Office,' following a new cast of characters helmed by 'The Office' creator Daniels. Original 'The Office' star Oscar Núñez is the only cast member who will reprise his role. 'You know, not yet at the moment,' Baumgartner said of making a cameo himself. 'But … I would certainly do whatever [Daniels] thinks is a good idea.' 'I'm excited to see it,' he added, while promoting his partnership with Samuel Adam's Octoberfest beer, including a limited-edition Fall Legends Commissioner's Kit for Fantasy Football season. 'I really haven't seen much, but I thought that the trailer was really well done, really engaging, very, very, very 'Office looking.'' 7 Ellie Kemper, Mindy Kaling, Brian Baumgartner and Kate Flannery in 'The Office.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection 7 The Samuel Adams Octoberfest beer that Brian Baumgartner is promoting. Although 'The Office' was a hit when it was airing, regularly drawing over 7 million viewers per episode, it exploded in recent years. It was the most streamed show of 2020, raking in over 57 billion minutes viewed, per Nielsen data. 7 Kate Flannery, Brian Baumgartner, Catherine Tate, Leslie David Baker in 'The Office.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection 7 Brian Baumgartner as Kevin Malone in 'The Office.' NBCUniversal via Getty Images 'When the show was over, I thought, okay, on to the next,' Baumgartner told The Post. 'And then….it started being streamed on Netflix, and it started picking up. The pandemic is when things just went nuts.' 'I was chatting with Rainn and said, 'it feels like the show is as big as it was when we were at the height.' And I remember this specifically, he said, 'no, it feels bigger.'' Baumgartner noted that it's even become 'difficult once again to navigate an airport or to go out again.' 'You could feel an energy,' he explained. '[It's] younger people who weren't alive or certainly not watching 'The Office' when it was on originally [airing]. I've joked it feels like by high school, it's required viewing for people.'

Today, it's on sale for under $35, meaning you can channel your inner Gilmore Girl without splurging Yale-level tuition money. The cable-knit pattern gives it a preppy edge that feels straight out of a New England fall catalog, while the oversized cut makes it casual enough for everyday wear.
