Prince Harry And Meghan Markle
We all remember the royal bombshell of 2020—
Prince Harry
and
Meghan Markle
officially stepping down from royal duties. At the time, it was painted as a dramatic escape from media intrusion and family tension.
But according to royal biographer Valentine Low, there's more to the story than meets the eye— and it's not just about privacy or palace politics that made Prince Harry and Meghan to leave their royal life behind in Britain.
In his book 'Courtiers', Low sheds light on what he claims is the real motivation behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's big royal exit: freedom, money, and brand-building.
According to the New York Post, Low writes that Harry and Meghan's desire for independence was deeply tied to their ambition— not just to live a quieter life in California, but to create their own global identity, get involved in causes they care about, and yes, to make serious money.
As Low puts it, Meghan 'wanted to make money'— and doing that within the constraints of royal protocol was practically impossible. Royal rules don't exactly allow for side hustles, Netflix deals, or lifestyle brands. So, to pursue their own ventures, the couple had to break free.
While the couple initially floated the idea of a 'hybrid' model— still performing select royal duties while earning independently— the Palace quickly shut that down.
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly insisted that being royal was an all-or-nothing commitment. Half-in, half-out just didn't fly.
And so, the Sussexes packed their bags and made California home, where they wasted no time in turning their post-royal lives into a business empire. In 2020, they reportedly signed a $100 million deal with Netflix and have since launched various projects, including Meghan's podcast and her soon-to-launch lifestyle brand.
It's safe to say they've swapped palace gates for digital platforms.
And it's not just business. There's been plenty of buzz about their growing presence in U.S. political circles too. Meghan's well-documented connections— like her rapport with President Biden's sister, Valerie Biden Owens— have often fueled speculation that politics could be on the horizon, especially for Meghan.
So, was it really just about press pressure and palace drama for Harry and Meghan to leave the British Royal family? Or was it a smart power move to step out of the shadow of the Crown and into a global spotlight of their own making?
Either way, one thing's clear: Harry and Meghan didn't just leave royalty— they rewrote the rulebook.

Under Trump's pressure, Nato commits to 5% defense spending by 2035; restates 'ironclad commitment' to collective defense

US President Donald Trump, left, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrive before the start of a plenary session of the NATO summit of heads of state and government in The Hague. Nato leaders on Wednesday agreed to a sweeping increase in defense and security spending, pledging to invest 5% of GDP annually by 2035, in a move widely seen as a response to mounting pressure from US President Donald Trump. The 32-member alliance also reaffirmed its 'ironclad commitment' to mutual defense under Article 5, but not before Trump's earlier remarks sparked concern among allies. The final joint statement read, 'Allies commit to invest 5% of GDP annually on core defense requirements as well as defense- and security-related spending by 2035 to ensure our individual and collective obligations.' A mid-point review is scheduled for 2029 to assess progress and reassess threats, notably from Russia. Trump's Article 5 ambiguity rattles allies Trump, who had raised eyebrows on his way to the summit by saying his support for Article 5 'depends on your definition,' attempted to clarify his position on Wednesday. 'I stand with it, that's why I'm here,' he said during a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof. Still, the earlier comment, 'There's numerous definitions of Article 5. You know that, right?', caused unease within the alliance. UK ramps up military commitments British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the delivery of 350 air defense missiles to Ukraine, funded by £70 million ($95 million) from interest earned on seized Russian assets. In addition, the UK will purchase 12 US-made F-35 fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons, joining Nato's shared airborne nuclear mission, the UK's biggest nuclear upgrade in a generation. Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte welcomed the move, calling it 'yet another robust British contribution to Nato.' 'A new Nato is born,' says Finland Finland's President Alexander Stubb described the moment as the 'birth of a new Nato,' pointing to broader burden-sharing and stronger deterrence. While many Eastern European countries backed the 5% target, Spain said it could not meet the commitment, drawing Trump's criticism. 'There's a problem with Spain. Spain is not agreeing, which is very unfair to the rest of them, frankly,' Trump said. Trump lashes out at media over Iran intel leaks The summit was also marked by Trump's strong criticism of US media for reporting on a leaked intelligence assessment suggesting US airstrikes only delayed Iran's nuclear program by a few months. Trump claimed the media were being 'disgusting' and 'very unfair to the pilots, who risked their lives.' To support his claim, the White House released a statement from Israel's Atomic Energy Commission saying the strikes, combined with Israeli operations, had set Iran's program back by 'many years.' Hungary breaks ranks on Russia threat Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, known as Russian President Vladimir Putin's closest ally in the EU, dismissed concerns over a potential Russian attack on Nato territory. 'The King and Queen are beautiful and spectacular people,' Trump posted on social media. 'Our breakfast meeting was great!' The summit, held in The Hague, saw the largest security operation ever conducted in the Netherlands. Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte opened the summit with a call for unity and fairness in defense spending. 'For too long, one ally, the United States, carried too much of the burden. That changes today,' he said.

Where is Chandi Dayle? Seasoned Dallas Cowboys cheerleader departs following Bahamas scandal

Chandi Dayle (via Instagram) Veteran Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader member Chandi Dayle was caught in the middle of a scandal during Season 2 of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Netflix. The experienced performer and former team leader was under fire after a serious rules infraction during the team's visit to the Bahamas, ultimately resigning from leadership and eventually retiring. Chandi Dayle's Bahamas incident sparked internal fallout within Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders The Netflix docuseries' second season, released on June 18, chronicled the cheerleaders' high-pressure training camp and performances, culminating in an off-field incident involving Chandi Dayle that fractured team dynamics. At the Bahamas retreat, Chandi Dayle—a sixth-year veteran at the time and the 2024–25 team's longest-serving member—allegedly brought an unauthorized person into the private hotel space of the team, an explicit violation of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) policy. The man was not disclosed to teammates, raising genuine safety and trust concerns. What Happened to Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Chandi? Bahamas Scandal Explained | E! News Chandi Dayle said the encounter was rooted in emotional distress. She talked to the man about personal issues and averred their encounter was just conversational. "It was probably the wrong place and time to do that, but selfishly, I had to do it for me because I feel like I was just losing it," she admitted. Later in the season, Chandi Dayle went on a leave of absence. Team head choreographer Judy Trammell said that Dayle needed to attend to her mental health, and rehearsals went on without her. Fourth-year cheerleader KayDianna Garza filled the gap as a leader for a time, although she would later complain she felt unsupported. Garza eventually left the team after a scandal broke out from a TikTok Live, where she made comments about the scandal. She was suspended after footage from the livestream spread on Reddit, which led to an internal investigation. "I needed to respect myself," Garza said regarding her departure. Who is Chandi Dayle? Before the controversy, Chandi Dayle was among the most recognizable faces of the DCC, with leadership qualities, charisma, and a long time staying on the team. In the Netflix series, glimpses of her private life were seen, some of them rooted in trauma in a previous relationship. In Season 2, Dayle talked about her ex-boyfriend Ryan, whom she had become involved with in the time of the pandemic. His complicated history with an allegedly abusive previous boyfriend became part of the emotional context that added to the mental strain on her during the season. Dayle went on to say, "If I can't even organize my life and my own thoughts, I'm not gonna be able to organize a whole team." When she came back to the squad after her leave, she chose not to return to her leadership role and described herself as relieved at the lessened pressure. Netflix's Liver King challenges Joe Rogan for ‘man to man' fight; arrested: Netizens ‘hope he is fine'

Liver King, a social media influencer, ran into trouble with the law, allegedly after he challenged popular podcaster Joe Rogan to a 'man-to-man fight' in an Instagram video. He was recently the subject of a Netflix documentary and has a whopping 3 million followers on Instagram. However, Rogan has a following of over 20 million subscribers on YouTube. In the now-deleted reel, the muscle-heavy influencer, originally named Brian Johnson, was filmed announcing: 'Joe Rogan, I'm calling you out, my name's Liver King.' 'Man to man, I'm picking a fight with you,' he added. In the video that went viral, Liver King had also allegedly admitted that he lacks martial arts training, while Rogan is a black belt. "You should dismantle me," he suggested, adding that he is picking a fight with him. 'I'm not gonna train but I hope you've been training,' the influencer said, asserting that he would make Joe Rogan 'pay'. However, in later videos, Liver King was seen being arrested by the police. In a later video, his wife shared that they are yet to see a judge, and the influencer would likely have to spend a night in jail. According to media reports, police in Austin, Texas, have confirmed that Brian Johnson has been arrested on a charge of making a terroristic threat. Liver King's fans have expressed concerns about his mental health, with some even suggesting that he is experiencing an episode of schizophrenia. A social media user said that in Texas, the authorities are allowed to detain someone temporarily for a psychiatric evaluation if they're believed to be a danger to themselves or others due to mental health concerns. The user suggested that the influencer's arrest is not criminal, 'but rather a health intervention'. 'Yeah, I'm lost. Is liver king okay? I haven't seen him on my timeline in a while, and it seems as if he's having some behavioural health issues, some skin ageing, and an episode of schizophrenia or something,' a user said. Another user said, 'This kind of made me cry. I feel bad for his family. Hopefully, he is okay. Please get well, okay.' 'I genuinely hope Liver King is safe and well. I pray for the dude with the utmost sincerity,' said another user. Joe Rogan is yet to respond to any of Liver King's challenges.
