Woman bites off man's ear over dispute
The owner of a girls' hostel and his daughter-in-law physically assaulted three persons found chatting outside the facility in Deccan on suspicion of molesting the inmates on Monday. One of the trio, Milind Vasant Kothari, 40, of Shirole Road, received five stiches as the woman allegedly bit his ears, police said.
Kothari lodged a complaint against the hostel owner identified as Suresh Vitthal Kamble, 60, and his daughter-in-law.
The complaint states that Kothari is a driver by profession and was chatting with his friends Abhijit Jadhav and Amit Khengre when Kamble, operator of Lokmanya Girls' Hostel, and his daughter-in-law arrived at the spot and picked up a fight with them alleging that they were molesting the girls at the hostel. When the trio denied to the accusations, the duo assaulted and abused the former. In the melee, the daughter-in-law bit off Kothari's ear and attacked him twice with a weapon.
The complainant was rushed to Sassoon General Hospital, and he needed five stitches to his ear and two stitches on the stomach. Sub-inspector Pravin Kulkarni said that a first information report (FIR) has been filed, and the accused have been booked under Bharati Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 115 (2),118 (1) and 3(5).

HARIDWAR: A BJP leader and her boyfriend were arrested here for allegedly making him and his aide rape her 13-year-old daughter, the police said on Thursday. The matter came to light on Tuesday when the minor told her father about her ordeal, following which he lodged a police complaint, Haridwar SSP Pramendra Dobhal said. Meanwhile, a search is underway to arrest Sumit's accomplice named Shubham. Anamika formerly headed the BJP Mahila Morcha's Haridwar district unit, however, once her name cropped up in this case, she was stripped of the party's primary membership.

KALNA: After a video showing inhuman torture being meted out to a minor in Gujarat's Rajkot went viral, Bengal government has stepped in to take care of the medical and legal expenses of the 10-year-old Kalna boy purportedly seen in the clip. His father has lodged a complaint with Kalna SDO and cops have started a probe. In the complaint to SDO Shubham Aggarwal, the victim's father stated that he had sent his son to work at an imitation ornament factory owned by Hapal Mollah two years ago. "My boy complained that he was often assaulted. The employer didn't even pay him regularly," the boy's mother said. He had to be given IV drips and blood at the hospital, she said. Rajkot resident Molla had come to the family's home two years ago. "Due to extreme poverty, I was compelled to let my son go. Since then, he has been subjected to torture and beatings. My son's body is covered with scars. Last Sunday, a man named Kalu Ram brought him to Howrah station and handed him to us. We brought him home and immediately took him to the hospital, where he was admitted. We demand strict punishment for the culprit," the mother said. Kalna BDO (I) Supratik Saha told TOI: "The SDO has instructed an inquiry and we have arranged for the boy's treatment." Police said that they started a case against the employer for causing intentional grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon per Section 118 (2) of BNS. Ex-serviceman who shot son dead, injured wife often used to threaten to kill them: FIR
The 55-year-old ex-serviceman, Baljinder Singh, who allegedly shot dead his son and left his wife injured at their residence in Buani village of Ludhiana district late Tuesday night, would often threaten the mother-son duo to kill them after getting drunk. A police complaint was also registered against him in this connection earlier, his brother-in-law (wife's brother), Takwinder Singh, told Khanna police. An 'inebriated' Baljinder allegedly opened fire from his 32-bore licensed pistol at his wife, Balwinder Kaur, 52, and son Jagmeet Singh, 26, following a heated argument. Jagmeet suffered three bullet injuries in his chest and stomach and died on the spot, while Balwinder is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ludhiana and is stated to be stable, police said. Khanna police booked Baljinder Singh for murder under section 103 of the BNS and section 27 of the Arms Act at the Doraha police station on the statement of Balwinder's brother, Takwinder Singh of Jassar village. Takwinder stated in his complaint that Balwinder married Baljinder over 30 years ago, and the couple had two sons, another being Manpreet, 28. 'They never had a pleasant relationship, as Baljinder mostly used to stay out during his service in the Army. Jagmeet died,' the complainant stated. Doraha police station SHO Inspector Akash Dutt said, 'Earlier too, action was taken against Baljinder and he was detained on his wife's complaint as he used to threaten and abuse them after getting drunk. The accused is absconding and is yet to be arrested. His son's autopsy will be conducted on Thursday, and his wife is stable now.'
