Still no word on Rafizi's ministerial exit
KUALA LUMPUR: The position of Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli as Minister of Economy remains uncertain following his defeat in the recent PKR deputy presidency race.
Communications Minister and government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said he had yet to receive any updates, adding that the public would need to remain patient.
"As Asean is still ongoing — today marks the second day of the Asean-GCC-China Summit — I currently have no further information. We will have to wait," he said during Google's Project Sigma: Engaging Malaysian Gen Z for News event today.
Rafizi had previously pledged to step down from his cabinet role should he fail to retain his position as PKR deputy president.
He was defeated by Nurul Izzah Anwar, the former Permatang Pauh member of parliament, who secured 9,803 votes compared to Rafizi's 3,866.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said the party had yet to determine the date for the Central Leadership Committee meeting, which will include discussions to verify new appointments and fill vacancies arising from the outcomes of the 2025 PKR National Congress.

MANILA: Singapore and the Philippines will deepen their collaboration in several areas, including renewable energy, sustainability, healthcare and civil service development. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr announced this at a joint press conference on Wednesday (June 4), the first day of an introductory visit to Manila by PM Wong. At the press conference at Malacanang Palace following their meeting, PM Wong thanked President Marcos for his invitation to visit and said the bilateral relationship 'has never been better'. 'It is a partnership that has been carefully nurtured over the decades by successive generations of leaders and officials,' he said. 'It is built on a high degree of mutual trust and respect, and it has enabled mutually beneficial cooperation over a wide range of areas, for example in trade and investments.' On renewable energy, the two countries agreed to deepen both bilateral and regional cooperation, and to accelerate efforts towards realising the Asean power grid. This is a plan to connect the electricity networks of the group's 10 member countries to enable cross-border power trading by 2045. Marcos said Singapore will continue to be a major partner in the Philippines' aspiration to diversify its energy sources, and hailed the robust ties between the two countries. PM Wong said Singapore companies are interested in renewable energy in the Philippines, including solar and wind projects. 'Such projects can generate economic opportunities for the Philippines, while supporting the Philippines' renewable energy targets,' he added. On the sustainability front, the two countries are working to finalise a legally binding implementation agreement for cross-border carbon credit transfers that is aligned with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement governs international cooperation to tackle climate change, and includes guidelines for countries to trade carbon credits to meet their climate targets. An implementation agreement will facilitate commercial participation in carbon credit projects, which can spur technology transfer, green investment and create good jobs, said PM Wong. China Announces ‘ASEAN Visa' To Facilitate Travel With Southeast Asia
China has announced the implementation of an 'ASEAN visa' aimed at citizens from the 10 ASEAN member states as well as Timor-Leste, an ASEAN observer, in a move to ease travel and exchanges between China and Southeast Asia. The announcement was made by Lin Jian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press conference held on Tuesday. Lin explained that the initiative seeks to simplify cross-border travel in the region, complementing existing visa exemptions China has with countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. It also adds to the 'Lancang-Mekong visa' programme offered to tourists from countries in the Mekong River basin. 'The construction of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future is being strengthened, and joint efforts to build 'a safe, peaceful, prosperous, beautiful and friendly home' have shown results over recent years,' Lin said. He added that exchanges and visits between the people of China and Southeast Asian countries are very close, and further facilitation of such exchanges is a shared aspiration among all parties. The new 'ASEAN visa' will offer eligible applicants a multiple-entry visa valid for five years for business visit purposes to China. Hackers abuse modified Salesforce app to steal data, extort companies, Google says

The hackers – tracked by the Google Threat Intelligence Group as UNC6040 – have 'proven particularly effective at tricking employees' into installing a modified version of Salesforce's Data Loader, a proprietary tool used to bulk import data into Salesforce environments, the researchers said. The hackers use voice calls to trick employees into visiting a purported Salesforce connected app setup page to approve the unauthorized, modified version of the app, created by the hackers to emulate Data Loader. If the employee installs the app, the hackers gain 'significant capabilities to access, query, and exfiltrate sensitive information directly from the compromised Salesforce customer environments,' the researchers said. The access also frequently gives the hackers the ability to move throughout a customer's network, enabling attacks on other cloud services and internal corporate networks. Technical infrastructure tied to the campaign shares characteristics with suspected ties to the broader and loosely organized ecosystem known as 'The Com,' known for small, disparate groups engaging in cybercriminal and sometimes violent activity, the researchers said. A Google spokesperson did not share additional details about how many companies have been targeted as part of the campaign, which has been observed over the past several months. A Salesforce spokesperson told Reuters in an email that 'there's no indication the issue described stems from any vulnerability inherent in our platform.' The spokesperson said the voice calls used to trick employees 'are targeted social engineering scams designed to exploit gaps in individual users' cybersecurity awareness and best practices.' The spokesperson declined to share the specific number of affected customers, but said that Salesforce was "aware of only a small subset of affected customers," and said it was "not a widespread issue." Salesforce warned customers of voice phishing, or "vishing," attacks and of hackers abusing malicious, modified versions of Data Loader in a March 2025 blog post.
