Britain's Got Talent fans blown away by Tina Turner Musical performance - but do YOU recognise the lead singer who used to be in a famous girlband?

Daily Mail27-04-2025
Britain's Got Talent fans were blown away by a performance by the cast of Tina - The Tina Turner Musical during Saturday night's spectacular live semi-final.
The memorable first live show of this series saw The Blackouts and singer Vinnie McKee land a spot in the grand final next month.
And in between the contestants performances, fans were treated to 'incredible' performances by the cast of the show, which is currently in London 's West End.
However, some viewers may have recognised the 35-year-old lead singer, who is taking on the role of the music legend on stage.
Before bagging the huge role, the star was part of a huge girlband, which she performed in alongside Alexandra Buggs and Courtney Rumbold.
The group haven't released any new music since 2016 and had singles including Black Heart and Love Me... so can you guess who it is?

That's right, it's Karis Anderson from Stooshe!
The girl group formerd into 2010 after answering a call for auditions and went on to sign a record deal with Warner Music in 2011.
They released Black Heart in June 2012, which peaked at number three after a month in the top ten.
They even received a nomination for Best British single at the 2013 Brit Awards, up against some of the biggest names in the industry such as Adele.
As well as their catchy singles, the trio released an album called London with the Lights On in 2013 which shot to number eight on the charts.
They went on to tour with female super houses such as J-Lo and Nicki Minaj and made various TV appearances including The Jonathon Ross show & Top of the Pops.
Although they went on to release a few singles from their second album, the full album was never released.
The group have been inactive since and last year they confirmed on their Instagram account there would be no chance of a reunion yet.
Alexandra wrote: 'Hey loves, I'm sorry to say we aren't announcing new music before I get your hopes up.
'Your girls a mumma (been for a couple years now lol) and I am starting a new business within the parent and baby space.'
And now, Karis is taking the West End by storm in her role as Tina Turner - and BGT fans were loving her performance.
They took to X to write: 'Karis Anderson singing tina turner should win britains got talent # BGT '
'So the amazingly fabulous Tina Musical to start ...all downhill from here then #bgt.'
'Hold on she is f***** incredible!! Blew me away #Tina #bgt #BritainsGotTalent.'
'Surely Tina deserves the gold buzzer? #BGT.'
'The lead singer In the Tina tuner west end musical is absolutely incredible #bgt.'
Elsewhere in the live show, Scottish singer Vinnie earned the most votes from the public after earlier wowing with his operatic rendition of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
While Swedish light act The Blackouts had bagged Amanda Holden's golden buzzer, despite being hit with a technical issue before their performance.
The two acts emerged victorious ahead of Alesha Dixon's favourite Linda Mudzenda who finished second and magician Eden Choi in third place.
But while Vinny and The Blackouts were celebrating their win, viewers at home demanded a rule change amid the show's new golden buzzer twist.
This year, the judges and hosts Ant and Dec have the opportunity to press a golden buzzer in the semi-finals, not just in the auditions as before.
ITV confirmed: 'In each semi-final, either one of the judges or Ant and Dec will be given control of the golden buzzer, and as soon as they see a performance worthy of a place in the final, they will have just one opportunity to press it.
'That act will be granted a one-way ticket to the final, along with one other act from that night who will be voted in by the public.'
However, viewers branded this move unfair to those acts who followed the golden buzzer winner, which appeared particularly the case amid Linda's performance.
Some viewers believed the Zimbabwean singer deserved the golden buzzer, however, she didn't get a change to win it as her performance came after The Blackouts, who bagged the honour from judge Amanda.
Taking to X, viewers were quick to give their verdict about the golden buzzer twist, with many branding it 'flawed' and 'unfair'.
They penned: 'This is why the judges should wait untill the end to use their Golden Buzzer. An unfair advantage to put an act through to the final halfway through the Semi final.'
'For the semi-finals of @BG would it not be fairer to choose the golden buzzer act at the END of the show? #BGT.'
'next time they do golden buzzer surely they will know they made a mistake pressing it half way through instead of at the end coz this girl deserves it much more than the dancers #BGT.'
'So we can't vote until we've seen all the acts but a golden buzzer can be given before they've seen all the acts…'
'she deserves the golden buzzer and to go straight through to the final to be honest…what's the point of the golden buzzer being straight after the act, surely they should see everyone first and then send someone straight through????'
'I'm not saying that BlackOuts don't deserve to be in the final but a Golden Buzzer at this point denies those that follow the chance to have one. And for it to be their second as well...'
'I think the new format is really flawed. Amanda pressured to press the golden buzzer so early on makes means acts don't get a fair chance. The acts so far are not really special or deserving of a golden buzzer imo.'

ITV host devastated as popular gameshow axed after just one series

More info Ryan and Adam Thomas' gameshow 99 to Beat has been cancelled by ITV following just one series. The Squid Game-style TV challenge made its debut this March, broadcasting directly before Britain's Got Talent during Saturday evening prime time. The presenters and programme received a lukewarm reception, with some viewers even dubbing the siblings the "next Ant and Dec". Nevertheless, the show appears not to have made sufficient impact as former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas confirmed that the broadcaster had cancelled the programme. It marked the first occasion the pair had hosted a television show together, and even included a guest appearance from their sibling, Love Island personality Scott Thomas, reports the Mirror. It represents a double setback for Adam, who previously endured another ITV programme cancellation in 2020, when I'm A Celebrity Extra Camp was removed from schedules. During the most recent instalment of their podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bro's, Adam revealed: "When I am positive about something, it gets cancelled. "Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Like I did [I'm a Celebrity spin off] Extra Camp presenting, did one series of that, got cancelled. The next presenting job I did was with Ryan, 99 to Beat, and that's got cancelled." The cancelled programme featured 100 contestants competing against one another in various challenges to secure a substantial cash reward of £25,000. Following each round, unsuccessful participants were eliminated from the contest permanently until just one player remained, having triumphed over the remaining 99. Caitlin Lawlor, a financial crime associate, scooped the massive cash prize at the end of the series. Speaking to Lorraine following her win, she said: "I loved it, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so, so glad I took it." Adam's disappointing news comes just weeks after he sent Emmerdale fans into a spin by hinting at a comeback for his character. However, those hoping for a return of Adam Barton might have to hold their breath a bit longer. The actor caused a stir last month when he posted a picture of himself next to the famous sign on his Instagram, captioning it: "I'm BACK! ! ! !". Adam's post whipped fans into a frenzy, with one commenting: "Is this true? Please be true! ! !" while another wrote: "I really hope this is true as you were my favourite Barton ever! ! ! ! ! ! !". However, according to the Mirror, there are currently no plans for Adam to return, and his presence on set was for a different reason. Many fans weren't fooled by the joker's post - suspecting he's there for another programme.

The Britain's Got Talent judge showcased her sculpted abs in the risqué ensemble, accessorised with an array of jewellery and sunglasses for added glamour. ‌ In her post, she hinted at some big news, following a recent revelation about a significant career shift. Her caption read: "Rest & recharge! Back to business on Monday!" followed by the hashtag "#somethingscoming." It comes after reports of Victoria Beckham's four-word comment to Geri Horner amid Spice Girls 'feud'. ‌ This cryptic message sent fans into overdrive as they eagerly awaited the star's thrilling announcement. Comments included: "Ooooh I LOVE this!" while another said: "Omgh what's coming?? Excited!!" as a third said: "She said my vibe, my body, my chargie!" ‌ Recently, Alesha unveiled her latest career pivot, marking a surprising departure from music. She's made a significant leap into the film industry, taking on the role of executive producer for a short film. Alesha is now part of the team behind Fire Lily, a narrative exploring the systematic abuse of power in society, penned by Phil Dunn. News of Alesha's involvement in the project was shared via an Instagram post on Wednesday, with Alesha subsequently promoting the venture on her Stories. Speaking about her new endeavour, Alesha expressed: "I'm honoured and excited to join an already stellar team of creative. "I believe this film will make a powerful impact on the world and inspire many people." ‌ While Alesha has previously been credited as an executive producer for her music video Chargie, this marks her first significant foray into the realm of film production. She's teaming up with Danish film producer Kim Magnusson and actress Theresa Godly, known for her roles in Motherland and EastEnders, for this venture. Alesha first shot to fame in the 2000s as a member of the R&B and garage group Mis-Teeq, and has since carved out a successful career as a popular TV presenter. Her hosting credits include Children In Need and Comic Relief, and she has been a fixture on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel since 2012. ‌ However, there's been a shake-up on the talent show's judging panel, with reports suggesting that her co-star Bruno Tonioli has decided to step down after two seasons. It comes after Alesha was going through a "really rocky patch" that nearly ended her relationship, mum-of-two Alesha Dixon has reconciled with her partner of 12 years, Azuka Ononye. In March, Alesha confirmed the couple had split but were still living together for the sake of their children. A month later, insiders close to the pair confirmed they were giving their love story another shot. ‌ A source close to the situation revealed: "They went through a really rocky patch and decided to call it a day. It had been difficult for a long time and Alesha just couldn't see a way forward. AZ even moved out to a hotel for a while, despite the fact they were co-parenting." "But there is still a huge amount of feeling between them. They've been together for 12 years and have two beautiful children. So they have decided to give it one last try. They both desperately want to be a family again and are going to do all it takes to make it work." Alesha is also gearing up to revisit her Mis-Teeq days as she hinted at a new chapter for the iconic girl band. When asked if there were "any advances" on previous comeback talks, she responded: "There might be. Well, next year is the 25th anniversary of Lickin' On Both Sides, our debut album. So we are thinking, we're thinking. Thinking doesn't mean we are doing, we're thinking. Which is more than we've done."
