Hull City have given Sergej Jakirovic an opportunity for his first taste of English football after sacking previous head coach Ruben Selles - but some of you aren't so pleased for him.Here's what you had to say about the appointment:Rob: Yet another bizarre appointment by the chairman. No experience of English football and in particular the Championship, which is such a difficult league. I hope I'm wrong but this just smacks of the previous two appointments whereby the chairman had to sack them and bring someone else in. I'm not holding my breath though.James: I don't get it! Firstly the decision to part with Rosenior after a seventh-placed finish, then to jettison Selles after keeping them up! What does the owner want? Why not go for someone with a proven track record in the Championship?Joe: As Hull fan that's watched us every week, week in week out, we need to actually concentrate on the squad and the quality we bring in. We need players who want to play for the club and give it their all, and realise we are a Championship team and the style of football has to be to win as many games as possible and realise we aren't gonna hammer people 5-0 every week - we have to win the close games. Hopefully he will be given the tools he needs to build a strong squad.John: I cannot believe we are doing this again. It's the exact same as last season. Sack a promising, well-respected coach with good results in the English game for a complete nobody with no experience in English football. We were lucky to attract Selles last season and just about stay up. Who are we going to find at Christmas after this new guy is gone and we're bottom of the table again?Mark: He is on his eighth managerial job in eight years, and out of the previous seven only two lasted more than one season, not exactly a ringing endorsement.Nick: We should have got a reliable manager who knows the league. The owner has unrealistic expectations as has proven over and again. Good luck to the new manager, he will need it.Jonathan: He doesn't know the league and he has a poor team to manage. Unless he can make lots of changes it will be a difficult season. And we don't know him at all so he won't be given long before we get frustrated.Sam: At the moment, most City fans see Ilicali as being foolish for two bad appointments (Arveladze and Walters) and two awful sacking decisions (Rosenior and Selles). But that can all still be forgotten about if this unknown guy is a success. I'm pretty dubious but will give him a chance.Rob: Yet again, another manager without Championship experience. Now it's time for another episode of 'dart in a map' recruitment which tends to be the policy of choice for the owner. Get it wrong again and we will be in trouble in the league and financially.

Alejandro Garnacho will be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer if the price is right. One surprising potential suitor is Aston Villa, who could make a move for the winger. Bayer Leverkusen and Erik ten Hag continue to sniff around the vicinity of the Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah. The 22-year-old defender struggled for regular minutes under Arne Slot last season but the homegrown centre-back is still valued at £40m around Anfield. Thomas Frank is now officially the new Tottenham head coach. When a manager moves from one club to another, there is always a few rumours that he will take some of his favourites from his previous employer with him. In Frank's case Bryan Mbeumo has already been heavily touted as someone of interest, while the midfielder Christian Nørgaard could be another name the new boss will whisper into Daniel Levy's ear, having word with his compatriot at Brondby too. Everton, Fulham and Bournemouth are also rumoured to be keen. Milan have gone on the blower to Arsenal to ascertain the availability of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior. If the pair do leave, it could prompt Mikel Arteta to firm up his interest in the Ajax defender Jorrel Hato but Chelsea are also interested. After impressing in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers, Hamza Igamane has gained a couple of admirers south of the border. West Ham and Brentford are somewhat eager to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old Moroccan, who netted 16 times last season. Leeds United are back in the big time and they want to bring the Udinese defender Jaka Bijol with them to the Premier League. The 26-year-old Slovenian, who has already amassed 63 caps for this country, is valued in the region of £15m. 'If I was a Spurs player, I'd be very excited'
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock says Tottenham's players will "respect" new head coach Thomas Frank because of the job he did at Brentford and be "excited" to play for spent seven years in charge of the Bees, rising from the Championship to the Premier League and establishing the club in the top flight."I love listening to managers who don't want to sit deep and invite teams on to them and do want to go after games," Warnock told the Football Daily podcast."Frank is the type of manager who is willing to change his tactics and style within a game to try to get a result. He makes positive changes to try to win a game and influence it."He'll openly come out after a game and say he got it wrong if it didn't work. His honesty is very undervalued, but certainly not within a group of players."Frank will become Tottenham's fourth permanent manager since June 2021 but Warnock believes the Spurs squad will have watched the job he has done at Brentford and be looking forward to working together."As a player, I'd be very excited. I'd respect Frank for what he's done with the budget he's had at Brentford, but also the style of play he's produced within that," he added."The frontline has been full of outstanding players; defensively, they've been really organised."I was in America when Brentford were playing in a pre-season competition and the players loved him and his management style."They had so much respect for Frank because he treated them like humans and let them be free. Owen Farrell agrees Saracens homecoming to open door to England recall - after being overlooked for British & Irish Lions squad
Owen Farrell will return home immediately after Saracens agreed a transfer fee with Racing 92. The Parisian club have agreed to release Farrell from his contract for a fee of €200,000 (£170,000), paving the way for one of rugby's biggest homecoming stories. Farrell still owns his home near the Saracens training ground and will begin the process imminently, agreeing a five-year deal as a player coach. His return could open the door to him representing England again, although previously he previously ruled himself out of international selection. Saracens coach Mark McCall has made no secret of his ambitions to bring back Farrell, with a long-term injury to Alex Lozowski freeing up an injury-dispensation allowance within the salary cap. 'We think we're a bit vulnerable at 10, to be honest,' said McCall. 'We've got quite a lot of 12s and 13s, but we're vulnerable at 10 because Alex Goode's retired and he's played 10 a lot for us. We've got Fergus [Burke], we've got Louie and then we've got no one else.' Farrell has agreed a five-year deal as a player coach while the move to lead to an England recall 'When Alex Lozowski gets an injury, then you're entitled to use an injury dispensation, given the length of the injury, and bring a new player to the club from outside your squad, but he can only play in the same position as the person who's been injured. Obviously, Alex plays 10, 12, 13 and the player coming in can only come in for the same money or less. So those are your factors. 'He [Owen] doesn't have to play 10, he can play other positions as well,' McCall said. 'So for our young talents who are developing, it could be a great thing to have him there. 'It's not just about having talent, it's about being able to think properly on the field. I know Owen's obviously one of the best at that. He and [fellow fly-half] Louie Johnson in particular have a very strong relationship already. They talk every month at least. Owen's so willing to share his knowledge and his experience with younger players.' Farrell is not part of the Lions squad to tour Australia, although he is due to travel to Dublin next week to work as a Sky Sports pundit on the opening match against Argentina.
