Notre Dame football offers multiple prospects on Wednesday including a 5-star tackle
After a great conversation with @MikeDenbrock and @NDFootball I'm blessed to receive an offer from The University of Notre Dame. ☘️ pic.twitter.com/EovGcnim7O — Brayden Fogle (@brayden_fogle23) May 21, 2025
Notre Dame football went on another one of its offer sprees on Wednesday, as they sent out multiple scholarships to stars across the country.
Once again, the Irish weren't focusing on just one class, as multiple were given the good news. They currently have 16 commits in the 2026 group, but should expect at least 8-10 more verbals before it is all said and done.
Notre Dame does not have a commitment in the 2027 cycle, but it is just a matter of time until that changes. They are hard at work on this class, and it should pay off soon.
Find out below who the Irish offered on Wednesday, as they continue their impressive recruiting success following a run to the College Football Playoff championship game.
(Note: All prospect rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite.
2026 tight end Brayden Fogle
The Ohio native was one of the targets, as the 6-foot, 3-inch and 225-pounder is one of the best prospects in the country. He's ranked as the nation's No. 162 prospect and has a very impressive offer list. Notre Dame is a bit late to his recruitment, but still has plenty of time to make up ground.
2027 safety Tory Pittman III
I am blessed to announce that I have received an offer from @NDFootball ☘️!@RingsNthingsCA @CentralEaglesFB pic.twitter.com/Bpk4KJ46Lz — Tory Pittman III (@ToryP_3) May 21, 2025
Notre Dame has a great recent recruiting success with some of the top members of the secondary, and Pittman could be the next one that lands in South Bend. The 6-foot and 185-pound star is one of the best players in his class, ranking as the No. 40 overall prospect.
2026 Tight end Preston Fryzel
Another offer to a 2026 tight end, Fryzel also resides in Ohio. It's pretty clear that the Irish have made that a focus state, especially considering head coach Marcus Freeman's connection. At 6-foot, 4-inches and 220-pound, Fryzel fits the mold of a big time prospect, even though his ranking, No. 683, doesn't reflect that.
2027 Offensive tackle Mark Matthews
My favorite offer of the day went out to Matthews, who is the No. 8 overall player in his class. At 6-foot, 6-inches and 270-pounds, he has the frame of an elite tackle who could protect any quarterbacks blindside. Notre Dame has had a good amount of success recruiting the state of Florida, and hopefully that continues with Matthews.
Overview
It's become pretty obvious that Notre Dame is looking for a tight end in the 2026 cycle, with the two new offers out on Wednesday. They currently don't have a player committed at the position, as the search continues to find a fit. The 2027 offers are all about relationships and evaluation, they like both of them enough that waiting to offer later didn't make sense. I love the aggressiveness of this staff on the trail, and the success should continue even if it's not immediate.

Historic College Football Program Lands Former National Championship Coach

Historic College Football Program Lands Former National Championship Coach originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Volunteers made an addition to their coaching staff Monday. CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported the Volunteers hired defensive assistant coach Marion Hobby. Advertisement An ex-Tennessee first-team All-SEC player, Hobby will serve as a defensive analyst for the Volunteers. "Hobby, a former All-SEC player at Tennessee, has coached in four NFL conference championship games (Saints, Jaguars, Bengals 2x) and a Super Bowl," Zenitz posted on X. "Hobby was also part of Clemson's 2016 national championship team." Hobby spent the past four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals as their defensive line coach. The longtime assist had been an NFL defensive line coach since 2017. From 2017-18, he coached the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line. Before joining the Bengals, Hobby coached for the Miami Dolphins from 2019-20. The Minnesota Vikings drafted him at No. 74 overall during the third round of the 1990 NFL Draft. Advertisement Hobby never appeared in a game for the Vikings, but he played 42 contests for the New England Patriots. The defensive end began his coaching career as a strength and conditioning coach for the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks in 1995. Hobby was an assistant strength and conditioning coach with Tennessee's 1998 national championship team. He received his first opportunity to coach a defensive line unit with the Ole Miss Rebels in 1999. Hobby coached at Ole Miss for five years and then spent one season with the Clemson Tigers before jumping to the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. After two seasons with the Saints, Hobby returned to the college ranks with the Duke Blue Devils. He then became co-defensive coordinator at Clemson from 2011-16 before going back to the NFL. Advertisement Clearly, Hobby will bring decades of experience to the Tennessee defensive staff. "The Volunteers are hoping to get back to the College Football Playoff, and adding an experienced coach who knows what it takes to succeed in Knoxville is a huge move," wrote On3's Steve Samra. Major SEC Program Pushing For Highly-Touted Texas WR Commit

Major SEC Program Pushing For Highly-Touted Texas WR Commit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns will have to hold off an SEC foe to keep four-star wide receiver commit Chris Stewart in the fold. Advertisement Stewart (6-foot, 175 pounds) plays for Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas, where he ranks as the No. 6 wide receiver, the No. 25 player in the state and a top-200 recruit in the 2026 class (Rivals). Texas gained Stewart's commitment on June 25 of last year before he went on to total a career-best 60 receptions for 922 yards with 15 touchdowns. Stewart hasn't wavered from his pledge to the Longhorns, but he has taken multiple official visits to other programs this summer, like SMU (May 2), Miami (May 30) and Arizona State (June 6). Additionally, the recruit scheduled an official trip to Tennessee for this weekend, he announced Wednesday via On3's Chad Simmons. Tennessee Volunteers football head coach Josh Heupel© Brianna Paciorka/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Head coach Josh Heupel and the Volunteers signed the nation's No. 11 class in the 2025 cycle after making the program's first College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Advertisement The Vols, who currently sit 13th in the class of 2026, will make their pitch to Stewart over the weekend as they push for the longtime Texas commit. The silver lining for Longhorns faithful is that Stewart is scheduled to return to Texas next week, his final official trip of the summer. Sarkisian and Co. have done a commendable job in keeping their top recruits committed, especially within the class of 2025, which finished as the top class in the country. Stewart is a key piece of a Texas class that currently sits 11th nationally. ESPN Projects the No. 1 College Football Program for Next Two Seasons

ESPN Projects the No. 1 College Football Program for Next Two Seasons originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One college football program stands above the rest in ESPN's new projections through the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Advertisement Factors like returning quarterback, likelihood of a multiyear starting quarterback, offensive line/defensive line outlook, roster management, star power and coaching staff were used by ESPN's Adam Rittenberg to rank programs throughout the Power Four along with independent Notre Dame. Perennial powers, of course, make up the top 10, featuring the Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 10), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 9), LSU Tigers (No. 8), Clemson Tigers (No. 7), Penn State Nittany Lions (No. 6) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (No. 5). The Oregon Ducks kick off the top four after securing the Big Ten Championship and a College Football Playoff appearance under young head coach Dan Lanning. Oregon is the only team to land both a top-four high school and transfer portal class in the 2025 cycle. Sitting third is the defending SEC champion Georgia Bulldogs and acclaimed head coach Kirby Smart, who led his alma mater to back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. Advertisement While Georgia hasn't logged a playoff win since that run in 2022, Smart and Co. have yet to finish outside the top five in recruiting in nine consecutive years. The top two came down to the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes and rising SEC powerhouse Texas Longhorns. Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day and Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian shake hands prior to the College Football Playoff Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Head coach Ryan Day's Buckeyes secured their ninth national championship and the first under Day after bouncing back from two regular-season losses in 2024. There's a lot to like about the historic program moving forward, but the Longhorns got ESPN's nod at No. 1. The outlook for Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian begins with star quarterback Arch Manning, a former five-star recruit who is entering his first season as a full-time starter. Advertisement Manning, although eligible for the 2026 NFL draft, could benefit from a return to the Longhorns for the 2026 season. Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning (16).Jerome Miron-Imagn Images "But Manning is in a unique situation because of his background and the money he has already earned in college," Rittenberg wrote. "He doesn't need to rush off to begin his pro career and could benefit from a second season as the starter under coach Steve Sarkisian." Sarkisian has led Texas to back-to-back playoff appearances after rebuilding a roster that totaled 13 wins over his first two seasons at the helm. "Sarkisian got the Texas job largely because of his reputation with playcalling and quarterbacks, but his greatest gains have come up front, especially elevating an underperforming offensive line," Rittenberg wrote. Advertisement Recruiting, particularly along the lines of scrimmage, has seen a noticeable uptick of late. And Texas is coming off the nation's top class in the 2025 cycle. Texas Longhorns linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. (0).Tim Heitman-Imagn Images As far as star power, Manning is an obvious mention. Elsewhere, the defense returns All-Americans in EDGE Colin Simmons and linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. alongside safety Michael Taaffe. Offensively, wide receiver Ryan Wingo will be relied upon heavily. Maintaining elite talent is certainly a barometer of success for future seasons, as is Sarkisian's job security and a well-built staff. "He's (Sarkisian) at an A-list job and likely isn't going anywhere, and he has done a good job establishing and maintaining a veteran staff that includes coordinators Kyle Flood (offense), Pete Kwiatkowski (defense) and Jeff Banks (special teams)." Advertisement Texas will open the 2025 season with no small task, a playoff rematch against Ohio State on the road. That highly-anticipated matchup will take place on Aug. 30 at noon ET on Fox.
