Notre Dame linebackers coach Max Bullough breaks down what his looking for from his unit

WATCH: #NotreDame LB coach Max Bullough @Bullough40 breaks down the four traits it takes to start at his position group:-Tough-Smart-Competitive-Elite communicator #NDFootball One of the deepest rooms on the defensive side of the ball for Notre Dame is their linebackers, with multiple top-end players led by junior Drayk Bowen. Following practice on Sunday, linebackers coach Max Bullough met with the media and went over what he is looking for from his unit. There are four specific traits, as Mike Berardino who shared the post put it: tough, smart, competitive and elite communicator. That unique aspect of this is that the Irish don't go after players to develop these traits, they go and recruit them. Look at some of the recent linebackers that have entered the program and played early like Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. You won't see the field if you can't have all four of them, and he showed last fall that he's got them. Bowen gets plenty of publicity, and rightfully so, but the others who are expected to contribute like Jaylen Sneed, KVA, and Jaiden Ausberry all posses the traits as well. This should be another very good year for Notre Dame with its linebacker play, and a lot of credit has to go to Bullough getting his unit prepared. Watch what Notre Dame players said and highlights from Wednesday's fall practice

Practice and player interviews following Notre Dame football Wednesday fall practice He's still being a little cautious with that left arm, but this is a great sign for Jordan tore his pec in late May, but he dressed for practice in helmet and shoulder pads and participated in individual drills today. Notre Dame football returned to the practice field on Wednesday, and more than a few players were able to speak with the media and some footage of the action was shared on social media. The season opener against Miami continues to get closer and closer, as it seems like Aug. 31st is right around the corner. There still is a quarterback battle ongoing, as CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey are vying to take the field with the offense against the Hurricanes. We already highlighted Jaylen Sneed looking like he's taking over the a starting linebacker spot, but there was much more happening on the field as well. Check out below some practice clips and players speaking on different topics shared on social media. Jordan Botelho continues to get healthier A second injury in the last 12 months, Botelho can at least go through drills as he recovers from a pectoral surgery. He's definitely favoring his left side, but he looks quick. There's no current timeline for his return, but one he does come back, Botelho will make an impact. A punt returner emerging? Freshman CB Dallas Golden is getting plenty of work on punt return during fall was electric with the ball in his hands as a two-way player in high school. This might be a way for him to see the field in Year 1. Last year wasn't pretty for Notre Dame returning punts, as they averaged just 5.5 yards-per-return. Sure, it was really the only spot on special teams that wasn't elite, but that could be changing this fall. The Irish have been getting freshman cornerback Dallas Golden opportunities and it looks like he's impressed in the role. In high school he averaged over 7 yards-per-carry and over 13 yards in 74 receptions. He scored 58 total touchdowns, so Golden knows how to find the end zone. Boubacar Traore looking healthy Does Boubacar Traore have his explosiveness back?Aamil Wagner: "Definitely. I think that and more. I think he has his quick first step back, he has his explosion, his pop."Terrible news for opposing quarterbacks if true. Another player that the Irish lost to a season-ending injury last fall was Traore, but the expectation is that he'll be ready when the season starts. It looks like he's ready now, as his practice counterpart, offensive tackle Aamil Wagner told Jack Soble that the quickness is back. Billy Schrauth has supreme confidence in his unit WATCH: #NDFootball left guard Billy Schrauth believes this O-line is the best in the land: 'When you know you know.' #NotreDame Notre Dame's offensive line should once again be a strength this fall, and Schrauth thinks it's the best group in the country. Depth is all over at each position, as we saw last year, even with multiple injuries across the line, the Irish played at an elite level. There shouldn't be much drop off from last year, and this year could see them being even better. Kenny Minchey is ready for this opportunity Kenny Minchey doesn't feel any added pressure being in a QB battle that has national attention."This is what I asked for. I can't get too mad about what's on my plate." Having confidence as a quarterback is huge, and we are seeing that Minchey is not lacking in that department. It seems like he loves to be in this kind of environment, one that he wanted to be in. Carr won't make it easy for him to win the starting job, but if he gets an opportunity, Minchey could run with it and take over the job. Donovan Hinish reiterates that the culture is strong Notre Dame HC Marcus Freeman has preached team glory to his program. Donovan Hinish has clearly embraced the allowed Notre Dame to make a National Title game appearance last year & it appears to be as strong as ever."You have to be selfless, plain & simple." One of the biggest aspects of the Freeman era that is significantly different than previous regimes, is that he's been able to have everyone in the program buy into his philosophy. The cohesion between all phases of the program was part of the reason why the Irish made it to the CFP championship game. It starts with the players, and Hinish sees the vision as well. Notre Dame football single-game home tickets go on sale Thursday, May 29

Notre Dame football single-game home tickets go on sale Thursday, May 29 Single-game tickets to Notre Dame home football games in 2025 will be going on sale. Almost time for us to be back inside Notre Dame Stadium ☘️ Single game tickets go on sale this Thursday, May 29 at 6 PM ET 🔗 #GoIrish☘️ — Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) May 27, 2025 It's getting closer and closer to kickoff of the 2025 college football season, as single-game tickets for Notre Dame home football games go on sale Thursday, May 29 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The Fighting Irish are coming off a 14-2 season, which featured a 13-game winning streak and an appearance in the College Football Playoff national championship game, where the Irish fell to Ohio State 34-23. Notre Dame has six home games during the 2025 season: Texas A&M (September 13), Purdue (September 20), Boise State (October 4), NC State (October 11), USC (October 18), and Syracuse (November 22). Last season Marcus Freeman and the Irish failed to end the program's championship drought, which has lasted since 1988, but the Irish seem well-positioned to remain in the College Football Playoff mix for the foreseeable future. This fall the Irish will have the luxury of a backfield featuring Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price to lead the offense, while new coordinator Chris Ash will look to retool the defense to keep the Irish a national contender. All the information to buy tickets later today is below.

Notre Dame football offers multiple prospects on Wednesday including a 5-star tackle

Notre Dame football offers multiple prospects on Wednesday including a 5-star tackle After a great conversation with @MikeDenbrock and @NDFootball I'm blessed to receive an offer from The University of Notre Dame. ☘️ — Brayden Fogle (@brayden_fogle23) May 21, 2025 Notre Dame football went on another one of its offer sprees on Wednesday, as they sent out multiple scholarships to stars across the country. Once again, the Irish weren't focusing on just one class, as multiple were given the good news. They currently have 16 commits in the 2026 group, but should expect at least 8-10 more verbals before it is all said and done. Notre Dame does not have a commitment in the 2027 cycle, but it is just a matter of time until that changes. They are hard at work on this class, and it should pay off soon. Find out below who the Irish offered on Wednesday, as they continue their impressive recruiting success following a run to the College Football Playoff championship game. (Note: All prospect rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite. 2026 tight end Brayden Fogle The Ohio native was one of the targets, as the 6-foot, 3-inch and 225-pounder is one of the best prospects in the country. He's ranked as the nation's No. 162 prospect and has a very impressive offer list. Notre Dame is a bit late to his recruitment, but still has plenty of time to make up ground. 2027 safety Tory Pittman III I am blessed to announce that I have received an offer from @NDFootball ☘️!@RingsNthingsCA @CentralEaglesFB — Tory Pittman III (@ToryP_3) May 21, 2025 Notre Dame has a great recent recruiting success with some of the top members of the secondary, and Pittman could be the next one that lands in South Bend. The 6-foot and 185-pound star is one of the best players in his class, ranking as the No. 40 overall prospect. 2026 Tight end Preston Fryzel Another offer to a 2026 tight end, Fryzel also resides in Ohio. It's pretty clear that the Irish have made that a focus state, especially considering head coach Marcus Freeman's connection. At 6-foot, 4-inches and 220-pound, Fryzel fits the mold of a big time prospect, even though his ranking, No. 683, doesn't reflect that. 2027 Offensive tackle Mark Matthews My favorite offer of the day went out to Matthews, who is the No. 8 overall player in his class. At 6-foot, 6-inches and 270-pounds, he has the frame of an elite tackle who could protect any quarterbacks blindside. Notre Dame has had a good amount of success recruiting the state of Florida, and hopefully that continues with Matthews. Overview It's become pretty obvious that Notre Dame is looking for a tight end in the 2026 cycle, with the two new offers out on Wednesday. They currently don't have a player committed at the position, as the search continues to find a fit. The 2027 offers are all about relationships and evaluation, they like both of them enough that waiting to offer later didn't make sense. I love the aggressiveness of this staff on the trail, and the success should continue even if it's not immediate.

Notre Dame football loses a potential offensive line starter for the rest of the spring

Notre Dame football loses a potential offensive line starter for the rest of the spring Watch LIVE as Coach Marcus Freeman steps to the podium just a week away from the Blue-Gold game. #GoIrish☘️ — Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) April 5, 2025 For the most part, Notre Dame football has stayed injury free during its spring practices, with the only major injury occurring to wide receiver Micah Gilbert, however, that changed on Saturday. Irish head coach Marcus Freeman had another disappointing injury update, as he shared that offensive tackle Guerby Lambert will miss the rest of the spring after having shoulder surgery to correct a lorn labrum. The rising sophomore played in a few games during his first year, but mostly on special teams. Lambert was expected to compete for one of the five starting positions, but that won't be the case this spring. The good news is that his season isn't in jeopardy, as Freeman did also mention that he should be full-go when fall camps rolls around. That is great news, as Notre Dame will hopefully have the former top-50 prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings ready to contribute in another College Football Playoff run.
