Rahul's Story
Akshay's Take on Matchmaking
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar played a pivotal role in bringing together actress Asin and tech entrepreneur Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax. A resurfaced interview clip featuring Rahul narrating the story of how Akshay turned into an unexpected matchmaker has gone viral on the buzzing Bollywood subreddit, BollyBlindsGossip. In a heartfelt conversation with content creator Raj Shamani, Rahul revisited the early days of meeting his future wife and shared what initially caught his attention about her.Recalling the memorable encounter, Rahul said, 'Back in 2012, we were attending an India versus Pakistan cricket match. Akshay's film Housefull 2 was about to be released, and Asin was part of the cast. Akshay mentioned that they were planning to promote the movie, and since Micromax was sponsoring the Asia Cup that year—which was being held in Dhaka, Bangladesh—I ended up going along. So whenever someone asks me where I met my wife, I jokingly reply, 'At the most romantic destination ever—Dhaka',' he said with a laugh. He further explained that during that brief interaction at the match, they exchanged greetings but didn't have a full-fledged conversation. 'Later on, Akshay told me that she's a really grounded and modest person. He said she's very much like me—she's focused, professional, and doesn't seek attention. He even mentioned that her parents come from humble, respectable backgrounds: her mom's a doctor, and her dad works in public service. Then, without any hesitation, he shared my contact details with her and vice versa. He genuinely believed we were alike in many ways—same roots, same values,' Rahul recalled. The couple eventually tied the knot in 2016 and are now proud parents to their daughter Arin, who is seven years old. Rahul considers Akshay's role in bringing them together one of the most meaningful things the actor has ever done for him. Asin, following her marriage, stepped away from the film industry. Her final appearance on screen was in All Is Well, a light-hearted romantic drama directed by Umesh Shukla that came out in 2015.Back in 2016, Akshay Kumar finally opened up about his role in setting up Asin and Rahul. He admitted that he had kept the story under wraps for nearly four years. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, 'Yes, I did help them meet. Jacqueline Fernandez was around too, but she didn't catch on because I was being quite discreet.'He elaborated with a playful anecdote from the filming of Housefull 2, 'We were in Delhi and, believe it or not, we were playing hide-and-seek. I actually made the two of them hide in the same cupboard—that's where the spark began. It's so heartwarming to see it eventually led to marriage.'Akshay and Asin shared the screen in two films—Housefull 2 and Khiladi 786. Although Asin is most widely recognized by Hindi-speaking audiences for her breakout role in Ghajini alongside Aamir Khan, she chose to walk away from the limelight following her marriage, with All Is Well marking her last film.

Critics and viewers alike have called out Housefull 5 for its double-meaning jokes, objectification of women, and what they described as an outdated sense of humor. The film has also been criticised for its weak storyline and loud, exaggerated performances. Despite this, the Tarun Mansukhani-directed comedy continues to perform well at the box office. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Housefull 5 has already earned Rs 87 crore in India. The film opened to an impressive Rs 24 crore on Day 1—outpacing both the previous instalment's debut and Akshay's recent releases like Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2. The upward trend continued, with the second day pulling in Rs 31 crore, taking the film's domestic total to Rs 55 crore within the first two days alone. While critics may remain divided, there's no denying the commercial appeal of the franchise and Akshay's draw among mass audiences. First Published:

Rupali Ganguly SLAMS Those Who Chose Silence On Operation Sindoor: 'At Least You Can…'

Last Updated: Rupali Ganguly praised Operation Sindoor by the Indian Army as a matter of pride for every Indian and criticised those who didn't support the army on social media. One of the most prominent names in the television industry, Rupali Ganguly called Operation Sindoor by the Indian Army a matter of pride for every citizen. Speaking to IANS, the 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' actress said, 'Operation Sindoor is a matter of pride for every Indian. Whether it is fully successful or still ongoing, it is a very proud feeling." Taking a dig at those who kept mum during the surgical strike, Rupali bashed anyone who could not spare a few minutes to share a few words of encouragement for our brave soldiers who guard our borders against the enemies. 'And at this time, anyone who has not stood with the government of India or with our Indian Army, who has not encouraged them despite having access to social media, if you haven't tweeted a few words or posted something encouraging on social media all day, then you're not doing much. You may not be able to do much, but your soldiers are posted at the border fighting for the safety of your family. So, at least you can say a few words about them, about their courage and determination. You can put it out on social media. At least you can show that you stand with your country and with your army," the 'Anupamaa' actress concluded. Operation Sindoor came in response to the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack in which around 26 civilians were killed in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. Avenging this, the Indian forces attacked nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the wee hours of May 7. Before this, Rupali was the first Indian celebrity to publicly call for a boycott of Turkey after the country supported Pakistan amidst cross-border tension. She urged fellow celebrities, influencers, and travelers to cancel their bookings to the country. Rupali penned on social media, 'Can we please cancel our bookings for Turkey. This is my request to all Indian Celebs/Influencers/Travellers. This is the least we can do as Indians. #BoycottTurkey." First Published:
