DHL, Daimler Truck, hylane agree electric truck rental deal
BERLIN, June 3 (Reuters) - German logistics provider DHL has signed a partnership deal with Daimler Truck and commercial vehicle rental provider hylane GmbH to rent electric trucks for parcel transport, the companies said on Tuesday.
Under the rental agreement, DHL will obtain 30 electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks via hylane and pay for kilometers driven, rather than purchasing the vehicles.
The trucks are expected to be delivered by the end of the second quarter of 2026, the companies said in a statement.
The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is a new battery-electric truck targeting the long-distance segment, which is responsible for two-thirds of all CO₂ emissions from heavy road freight transport in Europe, said Daimler Truck.

Chelsea near agreement with fourth transfer target after £30m Delap deal
Chelsea are not willing to meet Eintracht Frankfurt's £84m (€100m) asking price for striker Hugo Ekitike, who is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge this summer Sources close to Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike have indicated that talks with Chelsea over personal terms are now well advanced. The highly-coveted 22-year-old has also caught the eye of Liverpool after hitting 22 goals in all competitions last season in Germany. Chelsea have now held discussions with Frankfurt over a deal but the Blues have made it clear they are not willing to match the Bundesliga outfit's steep £84million (€100m) asking price. Eintracht believe they're in a strong negotiating position after securing Champions League qualification and after banking £59m for Manchester City attacker Omar Marmoush in January, they feel under no immediate pressure to sell. Enzo Maresca's UEFA Conference League winners remain interested in Ekitike despite confirming the £30m capture of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap on Wednesday night. They have held several rounds of talks with Ekitike's representatives over the past few weeks and the player is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, providing a club-to-club agreement can be struck between the parties. Newcastle agreed a £25.6m to sign the France U21 international in June 2022 before he later moved to Paris Saint-Germain, who are entitled to 20 per cent of the capital gain thanks to a sell-on clause. Ekitike recently withdrew from the France U21 squad for the European Championships due to a back problem as Les Bleus medical staff did not feel the striker would be ready to feature from the start of the tournament. Frankfurt are notoriously stubborn negotiators and Chelsea will only proceed if they feel a deal can be struck on realistic terms. At this moment in time, the picture is somewhat complex but the expectation remains that Ekitike will leave Eintracht this summer. The German club do also hold an interest in two Strasbourg players, Swedish forward Sebastian Nanasi and Dilane Bakwa and they've also tracked Emanuel Emegha over the course of the past 12 months. However, suggestions Chelsea could seek to use Strasbourg players in a potential deal for Ekitike are thought to be hypothetical at this stage. Emegha is expected to remain at Strasbourg this summer despite widespread interest from both the Premier League and Europe and Chelsea are understood to be considering negotiating a pre-agreement for the Dutchman to move to west London in 2026. Should Ekitike arrive, he would become Chelsea's fourth arrival this summer. As well as signing Delap, the Blues have also secured the services of Estevao Willian from Palmeiras and Sporting's Dario Essugo. Meanwhile, Chelsea are continuing to pursue England U21 winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens after opening talks with Borussia Dortmund and they're still open to signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, providing the Rossoneri reduce their demands. Maignan is thought to be open to joining Chelsea this summer but the Blues are now willing to pay over the odds for the 29-year-old given he's approaching the final 12 months of his contract at San Siro.

Amazon launches bargain portal Haul in Germany
German shoppers can now hunt for bargains on Amazon's new portal, Haul. The new section offers items at particularly low prices, according to the company. "We know that it is important for customers in Germany to find great products at very low prices," Amazon Germany chief executive officer, Rocco Bräuniger, told the German Press Agency. Haul includes items from the fashion, homeware and lifestyle categories. According to Amazon, thousands of products will be available for 20 euros or less, most for under 10 euros. Haul has been available in the US since November and in the UK since early May. The new section is integrated into the existing online shop and will initially be available to selected customers in the app from today, Amazon stated. In the coming weeks, Haul will be made available to all other customers. To find Haul, one can enter 'Haul' in the app's search field or navigate there via the icon in the main menu. Amazon entices with extra discounts Market leader Amazon is under pressure from competition. Asian shopping portals, such as Temu, have recently seen significant growth in Germany. E-commerce expert, Alexander Graf, from the software firm Spryker, said: "Wherever Temu is successful, Amazon needs a response, hence a new platform. That is what Haul is meant to be." Amazon is enticing customers with extra discounts. There is a five percent discount for a purchase value of 50 euros and a ten percent discount from 75 euros. Products are sold by Amazon itself, not by third-party sellers. The company ships the products directly to customers from its logistics centre in China. Orders should be delivered within two weeks, free of charge for orders over 25 euros. Buyers can return items within 15 days of delivery at no extra cost. According to Amazon, the goods offered at Haul undergo all necessary checks, so that customers "can rely on receiving products that are safe and comply with all applicable regulations and Amazon guidelines". Japan to propose cooperation on rare earths in US tariff talks, Nikkei reports
TOKYO, June 5 (Reuters) - Japan is planning to propose strengthening cooperation with the United States on rare earth supply chains in upcoming tariff talks, with recent export restrictions by China in mind, the Nikkei business daily reported on Thursday. Japan's Jiji Press also reported that the U.S. had shown flexibility in reducing an additional portion of reciprocal tariffs imposed on Japan. President Donald Trump hit Japan with 24% tariffs on its exports to the U.S., although, as with many of his levies, he paused them until early July to allow time for negotiations. A 10% universal rate remains in place in the meantime. The U.S. has signalled flexibility in lowering the currently suspended additional 14%, Jiji also reported, without citing any sources. Japan's chief tariff negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, is heading to Washington from Thursday for a fifth round of talks with U.S. counterparts, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Japan has been urging the U.S. to review its tariff policies, including the 25% import levies on Japan-made vehicles. Car manufacturing is Japan's biggest industry.
