Golf: Diksha among five Indians at Tenerife Open on LET

Hans India2 days ago

Five Indians led by Diksha Dagar will tee up at the Tenerife Women's Open in the Canary Islands this week. After a short break, the Ladies European Tour (LET) is back in action, and the tournament in Tenerife returns to the schedule for the first time since 2011.
Diksha Dagar, Avani Prashanth, Tvesa Malik, Hitaashee Bakshi and Sneha Singh will be in the field of 132 players from 35 nations at the Abama Golf Resort. Pranavi Urs has withdrawn, as her wrist injury is not fully healed.
After nine events in 2025, Diksha is the top Indian in the eighth place on the LET Order of Merit, which decides the yearlong race to crown the tour's number one player. Diksha has played nine events, made seven cuts and finished in the top 10 four times, including a runner-up finish in Morocco.
Avani Prashanth, at 39th, is the second-best Indian on LET Merit list.
The Indian challenge includes the last two Order of Merit winners in India. LET Rookie Hitaashee Bakshi in two starts, has done well to finish T-12 at the Dutch Ladies Open and T-34 at Jabra Ladies, while Sneha Singh will make her first start.
Tvesa Malik, in six starts, has made only two cuts, with T-34 at Jabra Ladies as the best.
The top four of the current 2025 Order of Merit are in the field. They are England's Mimi Rhodes, compatriot, Cara Gainer and the Czech Republic's Sara Kouskova, who secured her maiden LET victory at Evian Resort. Kouskova.
One spot back in the Order of Merit is Chiara Tamburlini, who will no doubt be as confident as anyone in Tenerife after she secured her best ever major result last week.
The tournament previously took place between 2002 and 2011, and the Abama Golf course provides a tricky test for the players this week with undulating and slopey greens.

Mitchell Starc Breaks Silence On Not Returning For IPL 2025 After Indo-Pak Conflict

Australia and Delhi Capitals pacer Mitchell Starc was one of the few overseas players who decided against returning to India after the Indo-Pak conflict on the border. The battle between India and Pakistan prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a few days, giving overseas stars the opportunity to return to their respective homes. While most of the players returned to join their franchises as the T20 league resumed, Starc decided against it. The Australian pacer, who was pivotal to DC's strong show in the first half of the campaign, said that he had no problems with the stance he too (to not return to India for the remainder of the campaign". "I'm comfortable with my decision and how I felt about the whole situation and how it was handled. That's why I made my decision post-that, and my focus changed to red-ball cricket for about a week prior to coming over here. Time will tell with repercussions or how it looks with guys that didn't return. But I've had my questions and concerns leading into that game, and obviously, we saw what happened, which played a part in my decision," said Starc. Starc also revealed that World Test Championship final preparations with Australia was also a factor behind his decision. "There was a little bit of that to my decision around the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. And then once the tournament was delayed you start to think about guys' preparation for the Test match," he added. However, it is also to be understood that Starc's Australia teammate Josh Hazlewood, who is also a part of the WTC final squad, decided to return to India and play the remaining campaign for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who went on to win the tournament. "Things were handled differently for different players and different teams, the guys up in Dharamsala, the Punjab guys were part of that, and while both teams had similar experiences up there, all those guys returned for Punjab, and Jake Fraser-McGurk and I chose not to. So it was a very individual decision, and I'm happy to live with whatever comes of that," said Starc. Starc has continued to pledge his loyalty to the Delhi Capitals. "I'm still heavily committed to the Delhi group, and I'm not someone that's gone into tournaments and pulled out after being picked up in an auction or whatever that looks like. These are different circumstances," said Starc. "It was more a question of not having enough information leading into making a decision about things of that degree. I had a discussion back home, then came to a decision, and whatever comes from that, I'm comfortable with that, and we move forward," he added.

On waiting list for train ticket?Websites offer three-fold refund assurance

While preparing for summer holidays, people often face the uncertainty of being on waiting lists for train tickets. As help, travel websites Ixigo, RedBus and MakeMyTrip have rolled out a new feature, 'ticket confirmation assurance,' which offers up to three times money-back guarantee in case your ticket isn't confirmed. What is 'confirmation assurance' This new feature is designed for people booking waitlisted train tickets. Travellers can choose an optional "assurance" while booking tickets and get either a confirmed alternative travel option or a refund of up to 3x the ticket cost, depending on the terms of the platform. The assurance plan acts like a travel insurance policy for uncertain train bookings. If your ticket doesn't get confirmed by the time of chart preparation, the platforms will: Try to arrange an alternative confirmed train or bus ticket Or refund up to three times the cost you paid for your ticket and assurance How it works The feature is available across the major travel booking apps. Here's how it typically functions: Ixigo: Offers 2x or 3x money-back guarantee options during train ticket booking for waitlisted passengers. RedBus: Tries to auto-book an alternative bus ticket if the train ticket remains unconfirmed. MakeMyTrip: Gives multiple assurance options including refunds or alternative travel based on availability. This service usually comes with an added cost, the 'assurance fee', which depends on the ticket type, travel date, and platform. Why this matters for travellers With high demand for train tickets, especially during holidays and festivals, waitlists are a common headache for Indian travellers. According to IRCTC trends, thousands of passengers are left stranded due to unconfirmed bookings. This assurance offers peace of mind and helps avoid last-minute cancellations or expensive alternatives. For families, elderly travellers or those with fixed travel plans, the value of a confirmed seat or a full refund can be significant. Important to know The refund or alternate ticket depends on the terms and conditions of each platform. The assurance fee is non-refundable even if the ticket gets confirmed. Users must claim within the specified window for eligibility.
