Klay Thompson mourns loss of beloved bulldog Rocco
Former Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson is mourning the death of his longtime companion and English bulldog, Rocco, who passed away over the weekend at the age of 13.
The news was shared by the Thompson's father, former NBA player and broadcaster Mychal Thompson, during an appearance on ESPN Los Angeles' 'Mason & Ireland' radio show on Wednesday.
'As Mase and Ireland always say, when someone dear has departed, 'Hail fellow well met,'' Mychal said. 'We had to put Rocco, Klay's dog, down over the weekend.'
Thompson added that 'it was time,' noting the dog had lived a full life.
'We were all sad, but Rocco had a great, long life,' he said. 'So today's game is dedicated to the memory of our service men and women, and to Rocco.'
Rocco became something of a celebrity in his own right as Thompson ascended to NBA superstardom. Adopted during Klay's rookie year, the bulldog was frequently featured in social media posts and interviews.
Though Rocco hadn't appeared in the spotlight recently, his presence remained significant to Thompson, who has referred to him affectionately as his 'son.' Rocco's Instagram page amassed over 61,000 followers.
Thompson, 35, completed his first season with the Dallas Mavericks this year after 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors.

Pascal Siakam's Awkward Interaction With Indiana Reporter Goes Viral
Pascal Siakam's Awkward Interaction With Indiana Reporter Goes Viral originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers lost in Game 5 to the New York Knicks, falling 111-94. Bennedict Mathurin led the Pacers with 23 points off the bench, although after the game, Indiana made it clear that they simply did not put forth the effort needed to win. Advertisement "We obviously didn't play with the level of force that we needed to," said head coach Rich Carlisle. "We're gonna have to play much better." His players agreed and made it clear to both the media and fans that they would play stronger in Game 6 on Saturday, although one reporter was not satisfied with that answer. Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star, who has been banned from Indiana Fever games after an uncomfortable interaction with Caitlin Clark last season, was back to his usual shenanigans. 'How is it possible to not play hard enough in Game 5?" he asked Pascal Siakam. 'What are you talking about?" countered the veteran forward. "They played harder than us. It's okay. We played hard. They played harder. What's your point? I don't get it.' Advertisement Siakam, understandably, was already frustrated with the loss, and Doyel's line of questioning didn't help, although the reporter kept pushing the issue. 'You good?" Siakam interrupted. "You good, bro? You're looking for something I know, but damn." A video of the exchange has amassed over six million views on social media, with the vast majority of fans commenting to defend Siakam or lambast Doyel. "Is the pressure getting to Siakam or is this just bad reporting?" asked FanSided's social media account. "They're about to ban Gregg Doyle from any Indy sports coverage," posted a fan. "He already had Caitlin uncomfortable last season, and they barred him from covering her. Now look." Advertisement Doyel's line of questioning was awkward, although he did bring up a decent point. Do the Pacers have what it takes to close out the series? They will have a second chance in front of their home fans on Saturday. Clarke joins Ballymena after Livingston spell
Former Linfield defender Matthew Clarke has returned to the Irish Premiership with Ballymena United. The 31-year-old joins the Sky Blues after a year with Scottish Championship side Livingston. During his time with Livi, he helped the club return to the top-flight and won the Challenge Cup. Advertisement Clarke won five Gibson Cups, two Irish Cups, three League Cups and two County Antrim Shields during his 11 years with Linfield. He becomes Ballymena's second signing after striker Ryan McNickle, and boss Jim Ervin says the arrival of Clarke "is a big coup". "When a player of his calibre comes up, you'd be stupid not to be interested and after a few conversations, thankfully he thought here was the place for him," he told the club's website. "The experience he brings with him is huge from our point of view. Matthew can play a variety of positions, so it's huge for us with what we're looking to do."
