Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles To Face Godzilla In Epic New Crossover

Forbes24-07-2025
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles square off against Godzilla, king of monsters, in a crossover ... More miniseries due out from IDW Publishing in November, 2026.
The world's two favorite multibillion dollar reptile franchises, Nickelodeon's heroes on the half-shell, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Toho's Godzilla, the king of monsters, will collide in a new mini-series due out this November from IDW Publishing, the company announced today at a San Diego Comic-Convention panel that also kicked off a new era and a new Godzilla #1.
According to the announcement, the Godzilla crossover series reveals that the original purpose of the Foot Clan was to protect Japan from the giant monsters known as kaiju, of whom Godzilla is the most fearsome. When Godzilla and pals reappear, the Foot Clan is not only unprepared to stop them, but their current leader, long-time Turtle-hater Shredder, may even be behind the attacks! Could he be after some genetic secret of the kaiju that would allow him to engineer upgraded henchmen capable of accomplishing his evil schemes?
Luckily Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello are on the case, high-tailing it to Japan to confront their fiercest foe yet: a certain hundred-foot tall scaly beast with radioactive halitosis. Can they tame the kaiju and stop Shredder's evil scheme? Spoilers: probably, but it will be lots of fun to watch them try.
Writer Tim Seeley and artist Fero Pe lead the creative team behind the project for IDW. Seeley has written IDW's top-selling, fan-favorite ongoing Godzilla series. Pe drew the popular TMNT x Stranger Things crossover in 2023.
'There are maybe two or three other ideas in the entire cultural landscape that are as instantly iconic, as perfect in their clarity and conception, as the King of the Monsters and the heroes in a half-shell,' said Jake Williams, editor of the series for IDW, who had words of praise for his creative team. 'Mashing them up has been a complete and utter joy. These characters are so perfectly realized that working on this comic feels like bearing witness to a natural encounter between living and breathing beings.'

Godzilla is no stranger to these kinds of events. Thanks to the success of Toho's much-anticipated Godzilla: Minus One in 2023, and the ongoing monsters franchise from Legendary, the already-enormous kaiju is bigger than ever, and has been stomping a path of destruction through the comics industry. DC and Marvel have both pitted their superheroes against Big Green, and Legendary has published in-universe comics tied to their own continuity around the character. The division of Godzilla lore into various 'eras' helps keep these storylines on their own tracks.
At SDCC, Godzilla licensor Toho is hosting a bunch of events and announcing new product partnerships including:
The first issue of IDW's TMNT x Godzilla goes on sale November 12, 2025. Retailers are encouraged to get orders in by October 6. Fans can find it at their local comics shop.

'Stranger Things' Broadway star Louis McCartney on why he reads critical Reddit comments

NEW YORK – Louis McCartney, who plays the tormented Henry Creel in "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" on Broadway, admits he sometimes lives in the comments. The actor confesses to reading "every review." Then he takes it a step further. "I also read the Reddit reviews because those (writers) are the real 'Stranger Things' fans," McCartney, 22, tells USA TODAY. "Somebody said that my epileptic fit (in the play) looked too stiff. I can sit here and say, 'No, I worked on that for months and I don't think it is stiff,' but I said, 'What if it is?' I'm always looking for better ways to do it." McCartney resigns to the fact that seeking feedback and affirmation can be a "double-edged sword" when it comes to acting. He recalls a conversation with his father, Michael, a screenwriter, after receiving a Tony Award nomination for his performance. "(My dad) was like, 'Great job. So proud of you. But don't take your foot off the pedal,'" McCartney remembers. "'Keep going.'" McCartney's dream is work with his father on a film that they both win Oscars for. His mother, Ruth, a holistic medium, also encouraged him to pursue acting. "(My mom) deals with the universe and I'm very spiritual myself," the actor says. "I attribute her to a lot of my personality and the way I approach problems and deal with stress. She's a cool mom." How the 'Stranger Things' TV cast responded to Broadway show "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" serves as a prequel to the hit Netflix series. McCartney portrays Creel, the main antagonist eventually known as Vecna. The actor praises the TV cast and crew, including Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna on the show. "I literally have never had a moment where I've sat there and been like, 'Oh, you don't like us,'" says McCartney. "These guys have been going for 10 years now. We've been running for two years. It's nothing comparably. "We feel every right to be like, 'We're part of the "Stranger Things" family now.' And (the TV cast has) catapulted that. They've been really nice, especially Jamie." "First Shadow" began on London's West End before moving to Broadway. McCartney says he has yet to meet Millie Bobby Brown because she's been "busy Season 5-ing" but "pretty much everybody's came" to see the show. As for McCartney's next steps, he says he does not make an appearance in the fifth and final season of the Netflix series, which begins streaming Nov. 26. The Broadway gig marks McCartney's first time in the U.S. and he's enjoyed exploring New York City with his girlfriend. Even on show days, the actor will venture out to SoHo, Brooklyn or Ellis Island. He lives near Central Park, which has also proved a nice respite from the hectic city. "I've been doing watercolor," he adds. "I've been like just trying to wake up and have a good time and have a day before the show, not live for the show." McCartney says that eventually he makes his way to the theater and "locks in" for his show, which is probably helpful given that he'll eventually read a review or comment about it aferwards.

‘Coyote vs. Acme' Debuts First Footage as Will Forte Reflects on Salvaged Film: 'I Had Given Up Hope'

After a very bumpy road, Coyote vs. Acme's team took to San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate the movie finally heading to the big screen and announce its forthcoming release date. 'I'm pretty speechless,' Will Forte told the crowd about the movie landing a release from Ketchup Entertainment after being dropped by Warner Bros. 'It blows my mind. You think back to the journey this movie has taken. I had kind of given up hope at a certain point, so this is amazing.' Coyote's failed attempts to thwart the Road Runner, which was set to Johnny Cash's version of the Nine Inch Nails hit 'Hurt.' Later, Wile E. Coyote happens to see a TV commercial from attorney Kevin Avery, as played by Forte. 'Have you ever pulled the rip cord of your parachute and only silverware comes out?' the character says in the footage. 'It's not your fault.' The footage led to plenty of laughs and cheers from the supportive crowd. The film's team announced that Coyote vs. Acme is set to hit theaters on Aug. 28, 2026. Notably, no one on the panel, including castmembers Eric Bauza and Martha Kelly, director Dave Green and moderator Paul Scheer, mentioned Warner Bros.' name in discussing the project's challenging path. Forte praised Wile as 'a character that never gives up' but added, 'The real hero of this movie is all of you guys sitting in those seats. Like Wile E. Coyote, you guys were an underdog who fought against a major corporation, and because you never gave up, this movie is now going to come out in wide global release.' Later, the team screened six more minutes of footage, which included co-star John Cena defending Acme in a courtroom scene. 'What I will prove to this jury is that this man, Wile E. Coyote, he is reckless,' Cena says in the sequence. A disaster involving the defense team's evidence leads to a fiery explosion in the court. Afterward, Forte's character gets a phone call from a mysterious source who sounds distinctly like Bugs Bunny. 'I think I may be able to help with with Acme,' the unnamed friend says. 'I have an associate with information.' The panel ended with the team debuting the movie's action-packed teaser trailer. In late 2023, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Warner Bros. planned to scrap the completed movie as part of a $115 million write-down. Social media uproar helped to save the project, which Ketchup Entertainment acquired for distribution in March. The film centers on attorney Kevin Avery (Forte) representing Wile E. Coyote in a lawsuit against the Acme Corporation over his failed attempts to catch the Road Runner. Green directed the film from a script by Samy Burch, with Burch, James Gunn and Jeremy Slater credited for the story. The film features Looney Tunes characters and is based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article 'Coyote v. Acme.' 'I never thought it would happen, so it just came out of nowhere, and I'm so thrilled,' Forte told THR earlier this year about the movie landing distribution. 'I'm so excited for people to see this movie. I'm gonna promote the crap out of it. Just tell me what you want me to do and I'll go, I'll do whatever — go to the top of Mount Everest, I'm there.'
