Dodgers Option Landon Knack After Rough Pitching Outing
After giving up four earned runs on three homers in Thursday's outing against the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers optioned right-handed pitcher Landon Knack, the team announced on social media.

The 27-year-old Knack's earned run average of 5.12 across nine appearances is not cutting it for MLB's fifth-place team. The starting pitcher posted an ERA of 3.65 in 15 appearances last season. That is a notable drop-off in production from his first year to this point in his second year.
Knack was drafted in the second round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of East Tennessee State University.
In a corresponding move, the Dodgers are calling up LHP Justin Wrobleski, who has appeared in the majors in eight games in 2024 and for two games this season, with mixed results.

Last year, the young pitcher posted an ERA of 5.70 with 26 strikeouts and 16 walks.

Wrobleski was first called up to start against the Washington Nationals on April 8. He gave up eight earned runs in five innings and was promptly sent back down to the Oklahoma City Comets.
Wrobleski had to wait more than a month before making another appearance in the Majors on May 15 against the Athletics. This time, he gave the Dodgers four scoreless innings, giving up just one hit in the game.
In those two appearances, he posted eight strikeouts and three walks.
The 24-year-old is now set to make his eighth career start in game one of the series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium tonight.
The game time is set at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Phillies left-hander José Alvarado is reinstated following 80-game suspension for positive drug test
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia Phillies left-hander José Alvarado returned from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and was reinstated from the restricted list before Tuesday night's game against Seattle. Alvarado's return follows an 80-game suspension for violating baseball's performance-enhancing drugs policy. Alvarado is ineligible for the postseason, possibly impacting manager Rob Thomson's decision on who to use as closer in the final weeks of the regular season. Alvarado was 4-1 with seven saves and a 2.70 ERA before being placed on the restricted list by Major League Baseball on May 18. Among other closer options in a deep bullpen are Jhoan Duran and Jordan Romano and set-up men Orion Kerkering and Matt Strahm. Alvarado, 30, has 52 career saves, including a career-high 13 in 2024. At the time of Alvarado's suspension, Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said the positive test was caused by a weight loss drug Alvarado took during the offseason.
