Govt bid to loot temple lands: YSRCP
Guntur: YSRCP senior leader and former MLA Malladi Vishnu vehemently condemned the TDP-led coalition government's move to allocate temple lands without transparent public auctions, as outlined in GO Ms No 139, issued on May 2, this year.
In a statement released to media, he described the order, which amends the Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Immovable Properties and Other Rights Leases and Licenses Rules, 2003, as a 'sinister attempt' to plunder the sacred assets of Andhra Pradesh's temples.
He highlighted that the Endowments Department manages 4.67 lakh acres of temple lands, a sacred trust meant to sustain religious institutions. He criticised the TDP government, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, for permitting the leasing of these lands to select organisations under the pretext of 'charitable activities' for up to 33 years at nominal rates, bypassing mandatory public auctions. He stressed that this move violates High Court and Supreme Court rulings, which mandate auctions for leasing temple lands and require prior court approval for any transfers.

Will work to make Yamuna as clean as Ganga: Delhi CM Gupta in Haridwar
Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday visited Haridwar and took a dip in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri ghat, where she promised to 'clean up the Yamuna' and work towards a 'developed Delhi.' Hours after taking a dip in the river, Gupta on Sunday reiterated that her government was continuously working towards cleaning the Yamuna river. Gupta said, 'Yesterday, we did the aarti of Yamuna ji in Delhi and today, I took a bath in Ganga ji. Today, I want the blessings of all the saints sitting on this stage that one day we will be able to take a bath in Yamuna ji. Yamuna is dry; there is no water in it, and the water that is there is very dirty. I have to work continuously to achieve this goal of cleaning the Yamuna River.' CM Gupta said that she was a 'junior CM' compared to Dhami and that she would continue to seek his guidance. 'Keep guiding he passes (policy) here, we will also implement it in Delhi. Gangotri and Yamunotri both flow from here. We will take water for Yamuna ji as well as schemes for it.' On the second day of the trip, Gupta is likely to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath. CM Dhami said that Gupta has been working in the political and social sector for a long time. 'She made a resolution here that she will make Yamuna ji just like Ganga ji. Tomorrow, her visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath Dhaam is scheduled. I wish all the wishes of the people of Delhi can be fulfilled during her tenure.' Cleaning the Yamuna river was a major poll promise and a key priority of the BJP-led government in Delhi. At the event marking 100 days of the government at JLN stadium on Saturday, Gupta said the Arvind Kejriwal-led party merely put up a show under the guise of cleaning the river, while untreated sewage continued to be discharged into it. The BJP-led government, on the other hand, made a ₹9,000 crore allocation to the Delhi Jal Board budget to strengthen sewerage system and water supply infrastructure, install seven new sewage treatment plants, rehabilitate eight more STPs, and launch decentralised STPs.

Jagan Mohan Reddy objects to supply of ration goods through fair price shops
YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has opposed the government's decision to supply ration through the fair price (FP) shops instead of mobile dispensing units (MDU). In a post on X on Sunday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government's decision would create hardship to the poor. 'The government is pushing onto the road nearly 20,000 BC, SC, ST and minority people, who rely on the 9,260 MDUs introduced by the YSRCP government,' he said. The TDP had promised to pay ₹10,000 per month to the volunteers if it was voted to power. Soon after coming to power, the government withdrew their services. In the name of rationalisation, the government was acting with a vengeance against the village and ward secretariats. Village Clinics, family doctor services, and RBKs were weakened, he said. 'People are facing serious difficulties in getting government services. Due to this foolish move, their difficulties have increased further,' he alleged. Moreover, 20,000 employees who depended on these vehicles had been hit hard, he said. They were not shown any alternative, he added. In all, three lakh people, who included 2.6 lakh volunteers and those laid off in the AP Beverages Corporation and AP FibreNet, lost their jobs, he said. 'Only Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu can destroy so many families in a year of rule,' he added.

NDA leaders see ‘conspiracy' to unseat alliance government in Andhra Pradesh
Several leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and members of the TTD Trust Board have questioned the series of unsavoury incidents in the recent past, and suspect them to be the handiwork of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in a bid to unseat the alliance government. The apparent trigger was the incident on Friday night, when a devotee in the Sarvadarshan queue line in Tirumala raised slogans against the TTD for 'neglecting the interests of the pilgrims' and causing them hardship during their Tirumala visit. He said the TTD officials had failed to provide them food and kept them waiting outside the queue lines for several hours. The video of the incident was shot and made viral on social media platforms, causing embarrassment to the TTD as well as the State government. However, when the TTD reached out to the devotee and tried to offer him solace, rather surprisingly, he retracted from the allegation and gave an 'all is well' statement. Growing suspicious about the intent, the TTD management issued a stern warning to the public not to make baseless allegations against the institution, as it would affect the sentiments of Hindu devotees across the world. Board member and BJP State spokesperson G. Bhanuprakash Reddy submitted a letter to the Director-General of Police, complaining about the 'conspiracies' of the YSRCP leaders to unseat the NDA Government. He charged the leaders of unleashing a false propaganda, supported by deliberate misleading comments on its allied media, to create confusion among the public. Mr. Reddy pointed to the instances of alleged cow deaths at the TTD-run dairy farm, SV Gosamrakshanasala, and the stray incident involving a Muslim cab driver performing 'namaz' in Tirumala, which were deliberately used to show the TTD administration and the NDA government in poor light. He sought a thorough probe and harsh punishment of the guilty for playing with the sentiments of devotees. Lokesh responds In his post on X, Minister for HRD N. Lokesh responded on the 'negative campaign' by the opposition party. He said the person raising slogans against the TTD was identified as YSRCP activist Baddili Atcha Rao of Kakinada rural, and expressed regret over the miscreants in the opposition party choosing Tirumala for their 'malicious campaign' against the government.
