The operation led to the detention of 20 undocumented foreign nationals, who were handed over to the Department of Home Affairs for further processing.
In addition, two suspects were arrested on drug-related charges, and six motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Huge reward offered for arrest of cop killer Jabulani Moyo

A nationwide manhunt is underway for Jabulani Thabang Moyo, the suspect in the fatal shooting of two police officers in Roodepoort on Friday, 8 August. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has announced a R150 000 reward for any information leading to his arrest. Moyo is considered 'extremely dangerous' and authorities have urged the public not to approach him under any circumstances. According to police reports, Warrant Officer Vuyisile Sintwa (51) and Sergeant Simon Masenye (45) – both members of a specialised task team – were transporting Moyo back to Boksburg prison following a court appearance when the suspect allegedly opened fire, stole their service firearms, and fled in their unmarked police vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned nearby. The incident has shocked the country and intensified scrutiny over police security protocols during high-risk transfers. Speaking from the homes of the bereaved families, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola condemned the killing, calling it 'a declaration of war on the state.' 'This is not just an attack on police, it's an attack on law, order, and the very institutions meant to protect society,' Masemola said. The two officers were both seasoned veterans – Sintwa had 23 years of service, while Masenye had served for 17 years. Their deaths form part of a growing trend of violence against police. Since April, six officers have been killed in targeted attacks, with 27 officers having lost their lives in the past year. The Hawks are currently reviewing surveillance footage from both the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court and a filling station where the officers reportedly stopped before the ambush. Meanwhile, the SAPS also confirmed that a separate R150 000 reward is being offered for information regarding 10 suspects linked to the killing of Sergeant Lawrence Mtshweni, who was gunned down in Mpumalanga during a burglary response within 24 hours of the Roodepoort attack. Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in capturing Moyo. Not in My Name calls for Cachalia to act decisively after 3 policemen killed

JOHANNESBURG - Civil rights group Not in My Name is calling for urgent intervention following the killings of three police officers in less than a week. The organisation has urged the newly appointed Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia to act decisively, warning that attacks on police were an attack on the authority of the state. Just a week into the job and Cachalia is already under pressure. READ: SAPS offers R150,000 reward for info that leads to arrest of alleged cop killer Jabulani Moyo Not in My Name said the South African Police Service (SAPS) must act swiftly after a police sergeant was shot and killed in Mpumalanga on Saturday, barely 24 hours after two detectives were gunned down in Gauteng. The two officers had been transporting robbery suspect Jabulani Moyo back to prison after his court appearance in Roodepoort when they were attacked. Not in My Name president, Siyabulela Jentile, said the government must restore public confidence. "We demand urgent, decisive, and visible action from the ministry of police to restore public trust in the fight against crime, provide immediate protection, equipment, and resources for police officers, dismantle the criminal networks terrorising communities, and prioritise the swift apprehension of high-profile fugitives like Jabulani Moyo." Jentile said officers must also be empowered to respond with proportional force when under threat.

Police officer 'fatally shoots' estranged wife as community take matters into their own hands

Masabata Mkwananzi | Published 2 hours ago A police officer has allegedly fatally shot his wife, a fellow police sergeant, sparking outrage as the enraged community sets him ablaze in a violent act of vigilante justice. Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba reported that Hlanganani police in Mopani District responded to two horrific murders on August 9 at around 3 pm, at Nkuna Kraal Mall in Nkuzana village, where a police sergeant reportedly fatally shot his estranged wife in the presence of their 6-year-old child. ' According to the reports, the female victim (Sergeant) was out with two adults and her six-year-old child when her husband, with whom they had been separated for around seven months, approached her. ' Ledwaba added that a heated argument reportedly erupted between the couple, after which the husband allegedly grabbed a service firearm and shot the victim in the upper body. As he tried to flee, the enraged community, which witnessed the attack, assaulted him and set him on fire next to his car. ' When he attempted to run to the vehicle to flee the scene, the community who observed the entire incident chased and assaulted him, setting him alight next to his vehicle. The vehicle was, as a result, burnt beyond recognition, ' he said. Police were notified of the incident, and murder cases have been opened. Ledwaba said the deceased male was identified as a sergeant attached to Thohoyandou K9, while the deceased female was a Sergeant assigned to the Beit Bridge port of entry. Provincial Commissioner of Police Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe urged community members to resolve domestic disputes peacefully by seeking professional help rather than resorting to violence. 'The SAPS has in place Employee Health and Wellness programmes that are offered free of charge. We call upon members of SAPS to make use of these services that are at their disposal.' Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the suspects to contact Detective Sergeant Stanley Chauke at 072 554 3141, the nearest police station, the toll-free number 08600 10111, or to submit information through the MySAPSApp. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
