MP: Gwalior ASI's son cracks UPSC in first attempt, secures AIR 202
Hailing from Digoda village in Ashoknagar district, Ashish completed his primary education in his hometown. He later pursued his graduation from the Delhi University (DU), completing it in 2022. It was during this period that he began preparing for the civil services exam.
Speaking to ANI, Ashish said, 'I have followed the basic study materials recommended by the toppers, nothing different. I continued to read the newspaper daily and adhered to the syllabus. I had always dreamt of becoming an IAS since childhood. Additionally, my father is a member of the Madhya Pradesh police, and I came across information about the higher posts of SP and Collector. Additionally, my school in Ashok Nagar was located in front of the collector's office, and the collector often visited our school on various occasions. So it inspired me that I too want to reach such a post.'
He further said that the one who worked hard consistently, then he would get its results. One should not get hopeless if they fail to succeed in their first attempt.
'It is not like that it was my first attempt, then it was a hard work of a year. It is the result of Hard work that was ongoing for a long time. To be selected, one should work in the right direction with the right strategy from the outset. I would like to encourage everyone to give their 100% in their respective fields. It was my first attempt, so I would further try to improve my rank. Apart from this, I will do my best, whatever allocation is given as of now,' he added. Meanwhile, his father, Naresh Raghuvanshi, became emotional while speaking about his son's success. Speaking to ANI, he said he was very happy and felt short of words to express it. He had not dreamed of it, but was unable to express his emotion in words.
'It is a proud moment for us, and I would salute him with pride. The family is also very happy after his success, and it was all his effort in achieving this milestone,' he said.
Gwalior SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police), Dharmvir Singh, congratulated Raghuvanshi and his family on the success, saying it was a proud moment for both the Gwalior police and the entire MP police.
'Son of a police family, Ashish Raghuvanshi, has not only made Gwalior police proud but also the entire MP police. It is a very proud moment, and Ashish's father is working in my office. I am very happy to know that, in his first attempt, he secured the 202nd rank in the Civil Service Examination. It is a proud moment for the entire Madhya Pradesh Police that the son of a police family has cleared the UPSC exam in his first attempt after graduating from the Delhi University. I congratulate him and his family,' Singh said.
With his success, the other children of the police family will definitely get inspiration and will be motivated to perform great in their lives ahead, the SP added. (ANI)

Help desk for visually impaired students at DU's Kirori Mal College
In a significant step towards fostering campus inclusivity, the Centre for Disability Research and Training (CDRT) at Delhi University's Kirori Mal College (KMC), on Wednesday launched the 'Project Samaavesh', in collaboration with the Score Foundation. The help desk will be set up at the campus and is expected to be operational from next week. As part of the initiative, Samaavesh Eyeway Helpdesk, will be set up at the campus and is expected to be operational from next week. Someshwar Sati , KMC's English professor and coordinator, CDRT said the initiative aims to promote inclusion for blind and visually impaired students and will cater to every National Capital Region (NCR) student, regardless their enrolment with DU. In addition to academic support, the help desk will offer skill enhancement training in such assistive technologies and personality development to improve employability, added Sati. The working days and timings for desk will be announced soon. Launched in September 2021, the CDRT aims to promote and popularize disability studies as a legitimate field of intellectual enquiry within the Indian academia. KMC principal Dinesh Khattar said, 'We need to work towards inclusion which is not just spoken about in policies but also a lived reality in classrooms and campuses. This initiative is a bold step towards that.' Rajesh Aggarwal, secretary of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was invited as the chief guest at the launch event and expressed happiness over colleges taking step towards creating a more inclusive campus. Sati said the CDRT will work towards establishing similar projects for helping students with other disabilities. Narendra Kumar Kashyap, a third-year undergraduate in Sanskrit said, 'This is definitely a great initiative. Sometimes, in classes students with special needs cannot interact as much as the other students, which of course causes inconvenience. This will be able to give focused help to students.' Another student, Sachin Kumar, is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Political Science from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Kumar was involved with CDRT from its initial days when he was a UG student at KMC. 'There are still colleges in DU which are not as inclusive as they should be. So to start talking on the topic, these initiatives are required. Additionally, initiatives like these create a safe space for all students, help unlearn prejudices and open a world where everyone can look forward to a brighter future,' Kumar said.

Kolkata-bound Alliance Air flight returns to Guwahati after mid-air snag, all safe
A Kolkata-bound Alliance Air flight returned to Guwahati midway on Wednesday after developing a technical snag, prompting the authorities at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport to declare a "full-scale emergency", news agency ANI said flight 9I756 took off from Guwahati at 1.09 pm for Kolkata but soon after take-off, the pilots reported a technical protocol, the aircraft turned back and landed safely at 2.27 pm. The emergency situation, declared at 1.42 pm, was withdrawn at 2.40 pm once the flight had landed without incident. "All passengers and crew members were safe, and were provided with necessary support," a spokesperson for LGBI Airport said in a airport authority added, "Following the diversion of a GAU-CCU flight due to a technical snag, a full emergency was declared at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, at 1.42 pm on August 20".Passengers were deboarded and assisted by the terminal staff.
