On Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour, every show is like fashion week for the Beyhive. With each new performance, the pop star debuts a series of fresh concert 'fits all in-line with the album's Americana themes.
Thus far, Queen Bey has embraced traditional Western motifs. Her tour wardrobe has consisted of bandana prints, star spangled banners, assless chaps, and blue jeans in varying degrees of spice. The Chicago leg of her global tour stayed true to this aesthetic.
Beyoncé performed in a range of outfits incorporating gold lamé, XL rodeo buckles, leather chaps, and a bejeweled varsity jacket, before changing into a sparkly tank top and denim short-shorts from Sami Miró. Styled by Shiona Turini, the look featured a crystal-encrusted bodice with dual-layered Daisy Dukes (or, as they'll henceforth be known, Beyoncés) embellished with royal blue jewels.
Finishing touches included slouchy over-the-knee denim boots and a pair of dazzling pavé David Koma earrings that could undoubtedly be seen all the way in the nosebleed section.

The cheeky 'fit was the least theatrical of the bunch, to be sure. But for members of the Bey Hive, it was certainly the most meaningful. Beyoncé's look paid tribute to one of her most famous songs to date, the 2003 hit "Crazy in Love."
In the accompanying music video, a straight-haired Beyoncè can be seen sporting a very similar look to the one she wore just this week. Then, she wore a silvery tank top and low-rise denim shorts styled with a delicate gold body chain. The modern-day version was nearly identical, albeit yassified.
Beyoncé's tour looks thus far have been designed by a range of luxury designers, from Burberry and Loewe to Roberto Cavalli. But it's her down-to-earth look from 2003 that was a momentous piece of history worth repeating.

Netflix adds Steven Spielberg's first big-screen movie — and no it's not Jaws

Fifty years ago, Steven Spielberg made a movie that quickly solidified him as one of the preeminent directors in all of Hollywood, Jaws. While that movie is undoubtedly Spielberg's breakthrough picture, it was not his first time that audiences got to see a Spielberg movie on the big screen. That distinction goes to 1974's The Sugarland Express, which is a new addition to Netflix as of May 1, and one of my picks for new movies to stream in May. The Sugarland Express stars Goldie Hawn as a woman who attempts to reunite her family, but to do so involves breaking her husband out of jail and then kidnapping their young son from the foster family looking after him. However, things quickly go awry, including kidnapping a police officer, and they are soon pursued across the state. William Atherton, Ben Johnson and Michael Sacks star in the movie, which was written by Hal Barwood and Matthew Robbins, based on a true story. Often overlooked in Spielberg's filmography, The Sugarland Express is a fascinating entry from the director who would become known for some of the biggest movies in Hollywood history. Incredibly, Spielberg was just 26-years-old at the time the movie was released and still he earned praise, particularly from one of the most notable critics of the time, Pauline Kael, who called the movie 'one of the most phenomenal debut films in the history of movies' in The New Yorker; even detractors at the time called Spielberg a 'skillful' technician. Personally, The Sugarland Express reminds me of the Hollywood B-movies of the 1960s and early 1970s, often made by Roger Corman; particularly the fact that it is a road picture crime movie with plenty of car crashes. It's an entertaining movie, but I won't go so far to say we need to reevaluate it as a forgotten Spielberg masterpiece. But any fans of Spielberg should watch it to check off his complete filmography. Another reason that The Sugarland Express is a notable movie is that it actually is the first time that Spielberg and composer John Williams worked together. While Spielberg was an upstart at the time, Williams was already an Oscar-winning composer coming off a recent string of movies that included Fiddler on the Roof (his first Oscar win) and The Poseidon Adventure. But it didn't take long for Williams to recognize the talent and passion that Spielberg brought to the table. In an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in 2022, Williams detailed the lunch meeting that was arranged for him and Spielberg ahead of The Sugarland Express, where Williams said after overcoming the initial surprise of Spielberg's youth he 'I realized this was somebody very, very special.' Though Williams' blues-tinged score for The Sugarland Express would not be nominated for an Oscar, it was the start of a collaboration that has yielded some of the greatest movie scores of all time (Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler's List and more). Bruce Springsteen fans only have to wait about a month before the rocker delivers a massive batch of new music. The superstar is planning to drop Tracks II: The Lost Albums in late June, and the box set will feature seven complete projects that he wrote and recorded but never released. Excitement is already building in the United Kingdom, where many fans are revisiting Springsteen's earlier work in advance of that huge project arriving. That enthusiasm has pushed one of his most popular collections back to the summit on one major list, while another brand new title earns the rock legend another top 10 bestseller — just ahead of what's sure to be another sizable debut. Springsteen returns to No. 1 on the Official Americana Albums chart this week, stepping up from the runner-up rung with Best Of, his simply-titled compilation of hits. In doing so, he replaces Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé, which recently secured another stay at the top. Best Of has now spent 57 weeks on the Official Americana Albums chart, and it hasn't disappeared from the tally since it debuted in May 2024. Throughout that stretch of time, the release has never fallen outside the top 10. It has now earned seven stays at No. 1. Springsteen's music may be surging not only due to the buzz around Tracks II, but also thanks to the launch of his newly-retitled Land of Hope and Dreams Tour. The run of shows kicked off in Manchester in mid-May, continuing an adventure that originally began in 2023. At the first new concert, Springsteen spoke out against U.S. President Donald Trump, sparking controversy and returning both his name and music to headlines across the globe. The resurgence of Best Of to No. 1 appears to be a sign of support from his loyal U.K. fan base. As Best Of climbs to the top once again and returns to the Official Albums Streaming chart at No. 89, a newly-released surprise EP gives Springsteen another top 10 win. Land of Hope and Dreams opens at No. 8 on the Official Album Downloads chart this week. The rock icon produced the set using recordings from his now-infamous show where he criticized Trump, seemingly cementing his remarks in the public record. The fact that, after only a few days, the title stands out as one of the top 10 bestselling collections in the U.K. speaks volumes about the strong support Springsteen enjoys to this day.

Beyoncé wraps first U.S. 'Cowboy Carter' leg in New York, fans celebrate mid-show Beyoncé Knowles Carter has closed out her first stint of U.S. concerts on her "Cowboy Carter" tour, and fans attending her last show in the New York area didn't wait to celebrate. The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her show around 8:18 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on May 29. The concert marked Beyoncé's fifth and final show performing in the New York area — East Rutherford, New Jersey — on her Cowboy Carter and Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. She first hit the MetLife stage on May 22. "I've worked so hard for almost 30 years, and I've grinded and grinded and y'all have supported me through all of those years. If it wasn't for y'all support, I wouldn't be here," she told the crowd as she opened the show. The electric energy that welcomed her to the stage continued throughout the night. And at one point, the crowd erupted into cheers, saying the singer's name as she sang her 2006 hit "Irreplaceable." As the crowd chanted "Beyoncé, Beyoncé!" it was clear the singer took a moment to revel in the energy. Of course, Beyoncé first released the 27-track project in March 2024. It has since made history and broken multiple records. As Beyoncé's first country album, she deliberately featured country legends and emerging Black country artists alike. She became the first Black woman to win best country album at the 2025 Grammys and also took home album of the year. As fans know, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. The concerts have been a revolutionary showcase for family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26. Beyoncé has already made history with her scheduled tour dates, including by playing the most dates at SoFi Stadium of any artist. Her next stop will be in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16.
