HPSC Assistant Professor Exam Cancelled For Hindi Amid Paper Leak Allegations
HPSC cancelled the June 1, 2025, Assistant Professor (Hindi) exam due to paper leak allegations and technical issues.
The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, cancelled the written exam for Assistant Professor (Hindi) posts, held on June 1, 2025. The decision comes after serious allegations of a paper leak, technical glitches, and security lapses during the test, which was conducted at multiple centres across Panchkula.
Technical Errors, Not Tampering, Says HPSC
According to HPSC, the exam suffered from major technical issues, especially in the printing and sealing of question papers. Hundreds of complaints poured in after the exam, mostly related to misprints and missing questions. Experts reviewing the situation confirmed that the errors were too significant to be fixed. However, the Commission has denied any deliberate tampering or organised paper leak.
In a notification released on Tuesday, HPSC stated, 'The Screening Test held on 01.06.2025 (Morning Session) stands cancelled. The fresh date of the Screening Test shall be announced in due course."
The controversy is not limited to the Hindi subject examination as the candidates and activists have raised concerns over the Physics and Chemistry exams held on the same day. Social activist Shweta Dhull alleged that some question papers were unsealed, violating exam protocol. Legal action may follow, as affected candidates prepare to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Meanwhile, media reports suggest that the 2024 English subject exam, which reportedly had over 33 errors, may also be under review for possible cancellation.
Opposition parties have sharply criticized the BJP-led state government and HPSC over the incident. INLD's Ram Pal Majra said the cancellation highlighted deeper flaws in the recruitment system. Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Bhupinder Singh Hooda called it a betrayal of Haryana's youth, pointing out that several recruitment processes in the state have faced legal challenges in recent years.

BJP municipal council chairman held on bribe charges
Jind: In BJP-ruled Haryana, the anti-corruption bureau on Saturday nabbed BJP leader and Julana Municipal Council chairman Dr Sanjay Jangra over an alleged bribe of Rs 2.27 lakh. His receptionist was arrested for allegedly accepting the cash. According to the ACB DSP, a contractor from Bhiwani, Manoj, filed a complaint alleging that Jangra was demanding a commission of 2.5% in exchange for clearing payments. On the basis of this information, ACB formed a raiding team and gave the complainant Rs 2.27 lakh marked with powder. When the complainant spoke with Jangra, he allegedly directed him to hand over the money to his hospital receptionist. As soon as the complainant handed over the cash to receptionist Satbir, the ACB team caught him with the money. The ACB team detained Jangra for questioning and seized a DVR from the spot. When Satbir's hands were washed, the powder turned his hands red, confirming the bribe transaction, said officials. A DSP-vigilance at Bhiwani said the contractor undertook work worth Rs 10 crore in Julana, out of which 50% was completed. The matter is under investigation and the suspects will be produced in court, where the entire case will be revealed, the DSP said. Dr Jangra has been living in Julana for 35 years, having opened a hospital in 1984, soon after completing his MBBS. In the municipal elections held on March 12 this year, he won by 671 votes and became chairman. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). PM to inaugurate projects worth ₹11,000 crore to boost Delhi's connectivity today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major national highway projects worth ₹11,000 crore in Rohini on Sunday. The projects — the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway — aim to decongest the Capital and improve connectivity, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed UER-II a 'historic gift' for the city and said that it would not only move Delhi closer to becoming traffic-free but also strengthen connectivity across the National Capital Region. Ms. Gupta inspected the venue in Rohini Sector 37, where the inauguration is scheduled to take place. She said the UER-II would reduce the travel time from the Singhu border, which connects Delhi with Haryana, to the IGI Airport from two hours to around 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the Congress hit out at the BJP-led Centre over the 'high' toll tax on the UER-II. Delhi Congress spokesperson Naresh Kumar claimed that the toll tax in Delhi is higher than in the neighbouring States of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. He demanded a reduction of toll charges by at least 50%.
