Kodak Launches S5000 Series Scanners and Capture Pro 7.0
Kodak Alaris has announced the launch of its next-generation KODAK S5000 Series production scanners along with the latest version of its capture software, KODAK Capture Pro 7.0.
The company revealed that the new scanners deliver unmatched speed, accuracy, and automation. They process up to 210 sheets per minute and are built to serve high-volume industries across the Middle East, including banking, insurance, healthcare, and government.
Naji Kazak, VP EMEIA & APAC at Kodak Alaris, stated that businesses in the region are under pressure to digitise operations quickly and accurately. He noted that the new solutions help organisations scan, process, and archive large volumes of information with high speed and precision, ensuring no critical data is lost.
The KODAK S5000 Series features a 32-core image processor, enabling high throughput even during complex scan jobs. Its Dynamic Flow technology balances computing loads between hardware and software. This maintains full scanning speed while producing three simultaneous image outputs per page.
These scanners support multiple uses in one pass, such as: Archival-quality images for audits
Optimised files for workflows
Colour copies for customer service
Kodak Alaris reported that the scanners handle sensitive and irregular documents with advanced features like ultrasonic double-feed detection, metal and crease sensors, and intelligent slowdown to prevent jams.
The updated interface includes a touchscreen for faster setup and real-time monitoring of consumables, which helps minimise workflow disruptions.
Capture Pro 7.0 complements the new hardware with a 64-bit architecture and a tile-based user interface. It is designed to manage complex, high-volume capture jobs efficiently.
Together, the new hardware and software aim to streamline document workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance turnaround times.
Kazak added that the scanners automate manual steps and deliver reliable output, enabling better outcomes in sectors like finance and insurance.
The KODAK S5000 Series includes three models: S5160: up to 160 sheets per minute
S5180: up to 180 sheets per minute
S5210: up to 210 sheets per minute, with tri-stream mode
Kodak Alaris confirmed that both the S5000 Series and Capture Pro 7.0 will be available in the Middle East starting August 2025.

Traditional customer contact channels are leading businesses down their Kodak-like demise
South African businesses that continue to cling to traditional customer contact channels instead of adapting to new innovative solutions are passively digging an early grave. Many of them today remain resistant to embracing smartbot (AI-powered chatbot) technology and prefer to continue holding onto SMSs, emails, and call centres to engage customers due to the perception that they are a cheaper alternative to newer technologies. 'South African businesses are at risk of mirroring the same devastating oversights committed by Kodak. The pioneer of camera and film, which introduced the first-ever handheld camera in the late 1800s, was one of the top performing companies on the New York Stock Exchange at the peak of the 20th century. Within 10 years of that achievement, they had to file for bankruptcy. Their mistake: failing to capitalize on the growing digital photography market,' says Jonathan Elcock, co-founder and CEO at At present, traditional customer communication channels are not providing the sales results needed to keep businesses profitable. In fact, when businesses try to call their customers, they fail to reach 30% to 40% of them. This results in a low return on investment, forcing businesses to invest more heavily in top-of-funnel activity by allocating more resources to increase customer leads to counterbalance the lost conversions. This effectively becomes a vicious cycle of profit burning and risks the business becoming redundant. But while businesses cling to traditional tactics like Kodak clung to film, smartbot technology has already moved to mainstream platforms, such as WhatsApp, where the customer's entire interaction with the business – whether through queries or sales – can be hosted. Elcock added that 'today's innovation is tomorrow's commoditization. A business can only grow at the speed of their customer's trust. Using traditional channels of communication erodes trust because trust is now linked to response time. Relying on a human to respond to email or SMS queries always guarantees some length of delayed feedback, which in result fails to respond to a customer's primary need: convenience. One would not trust a doctor that takes a week to respond to an appointment request via email, so why would a customer remain loyal to a business that does the same?' WhatsApp smartbots can deliver results that traditional methods like email and SMS can't do. While those channels offer quantity-based metrics like click-through rates, they fail to provide deeper customer insights. For example, a low email click rate might suggest inactive addresses — but that could be a false conclusion, as the data only explains what happened, not why. WhatsApp smartbots, powered by AI, go further by providing qualitative, behavioural data that indicates the why behind customer actions. They track the entire customer journey in real time, revealing exactly where and why breakages occur. 'Traditional e-commerce platforms might show that 80% of users abandoned their carts. WhatsApp smartbots have the potential to reveal that 60% of those users had unanswered questions, offering a clear path for improvement. This data can give insight into what exactly discouraged the customer, and how to optimize the breakage to improve the experience for the customer the next time,' Elcock described. Smartbot technology is also increasing profitability by reducing wastage and helping businesses with more efficient use of resources. Think of a company that provides tertiary education loans, but with prerequisites such as a threshold on monthly income. The Whatsapp smartbot would pre qualify customer leads in a chat by asking the potential customer a series of questions, before handing over the hot lead to a contact centre agent to lock down the sale with a personal, human touch. Without the smartbot's presence in this sales process, call centre agents would inevitably waste time trying to make contact with leads and disqualify 60% of them. 'Kodak's parochial business attitude provides product and service-centric businesses of today a valuable lesson: technology changes with time. New innovations arise and automatically update older practices. We need to continue adapting to the trends. You can either embrace it or wait for your next competitor to come along and take your place,' Elcock concluded. Jebel Ali Racecourse Enhances Operations with Kodak Alaris
Jebel Ali Racecourse, one of Dubai's leading horse racing venues, has streamlined its operations and improved the visitor experience through a strategic partnership with Kodak Alaris. This collaboration led to the racecourse being named the 2024 Innovative Solution Champion by Kodak Alaris. To manage the growing popularity of its 'Pick & Win' program, Jebel Ali Racecourse needed to process a high volume of handwritten forms quickly and accurately. The goal was to upgrade its document handling capabilities without compromising the on-ground experience for visitors. Working with TechBee, the racecourse implemented a solution using Kodak Alaris technology. This included the KODAK S3100 Scanners for high-quality image capture and the KODAK Info Input Solution, a browser-based intelligent document processing (IDP) platform with AI capabilities. The system uses a custom cloud-based AI engine to accurately process variable handwritten entries. It started as a proof of concept but soon scaled to handle real-time race data. Since implementation, the solution has processed over 1 million data points across 20,000 forms within a two-hour window during live events. Results are automatically fed into the racecourse's system to select winners. The impact has been significant. Jebel Ali Racecourse has achieved a 97% accuracy rate, reduced operating costs by 80%, and cut infrastructure expenses by 90%. All of this was accomplished while maintaining a strict 120-minute service level agreement. Mohamed Ahmed, General Manager of Jebel Ali Racecourse, noted that Kodak Alaris became more than a technology provider—they were true partners in driving innovation. Elias Mouchantaf, General Manager of Kodak Alaris Dubai, emphasized that the project reflects how smart automation can redefine operations in experience-driven environments. This collaboration highlights how AI-powered document processing can help venues meet high visitor expectations while improving backend efficiency. Jebel Ali Racecourse continues to set new standards for digital transformation in the sports and entertainment sector.
