Man Utd ready to win £60m Viktor Gyokeres transfer race as Sir Jim Ratcliffe's brutal cuts start to pay off
MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to win the race for Viktor Gyokeres.
The Red Devils recently revealed total operating expenses have dropped by £41.6million to £162.1m in the latest quarterly club accounts after Sir Jim Ratcliffe's brutal cost cutting.

That is despite the cash spent on the Glazers' debt spiralling to a staggering £1.2BILLION.
United's gradual U-turn in club finances means they are ready to pip Arsenal to land Sporting Lisbon striker Gyokeres.
The Gunners are keen on the former Coventry hitman, 27, but are also chasing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Sweden striker Gyokeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season, has an £85m release clause.
But it is understood that the Portuguese side would accept a fee closer to £60m this summer.
United boss Ruben Amorim is now ready to raid his former club after the boost in their accounts.
Yet the Glazers' debt still casts a long shadow over the fallen giants, whose wage bill was down a huge £20m to £71.2m compared with a year ago.
United have now spent an astonishing £1.2bn on the debt in 20 years of the Americans' ownership.
According to the BBC, £815m in debt interest repayments; £166m in dividends to shareholders; £197m in external net debt repayments and £10m in management and administration fees to the Glazer family companies has left the club since the Glazers bought it in June 2005.
Meanwhile, chief executive Omar Berrada warned United must improve after a humiliating season in which they finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.

He said: 'We were proud to reach the final of the Europa League but ultimately were disappointed to finish as runner-up in Bilbao.
'We had a difficult season in the Premier League, which fell below our standards, and we have a clear expectation of improvement next season.'
United have already agreed to pay £62.5m to land forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
And they are chasing a £55m deal for Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo as they attempt to stay within the Prem's Profit and Sustainability Rules.
But Amorim will also need to offload a clutch of big-name players from a group including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Casemiro.

The German star is edging closer to an Anfield switch and has been convinced by Slot's clear plan of where he will play in Liverpool's set-up as a No 10. Thomas Tuchel hammered his England stars for 'playing with fire' in Saturday night's lifeless World Cup qualifying win over Andorra, saying they were fortunate they did not get burned in Barcelona. Harry Kane scored the second-half winner, though the Three Lions were booed at half-time and then again at full-time. England supporters also took aim at Keir Starmer, chanting that the prime minister was a 'c***' and a 'w*****' in between expressing their frustration with the football on show. While Tuchel said he did not hear those songs towards Starmer, he admitted he could not blame the fans for jeering the performance, likening it to the favourites in a cup competition arrogantly acting as if they had no reason to worry. 'I think in the end, we played with fire, honestly,' Tuchel said. 'I felt it almost like in a cup game where the favourite does not smell the danger. I didn't feel a team that was aware it was only 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier. Step by step the energy dropped when we needed exactly the opposite. 'But we couldn't deliver and so we got away with a win. I think we still deserved the win and we've got three wins and three clean sheets. We will not stop encouraging them and make clear after we have a proper look at the match what we want from them. 'I didn't like the attitude how we ended the game. I liked the attitude how we started, the first 25 minutes, but I didn't like the last 25. I think we lacked the seriousness and the urgency that is needed in a World Cup qualifier. I think we played with fire. I didn't like the attitude in the end. I didn't like the body language. It was not what the occasion needed.' England will face Senegal in a friendly at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Tuesday next, and Tuchel added: 'The booing is OK. First of all, the support was amazing, unbelievable, it created a fantastic atmosphere for a match like this. When I came out, straightaway I was excited. 'They were underwhelmed and not happy with our performance, especially with how we ended the first half. I don't think we can blame them for that. We cannot even blame them for how we ended the match.' On the singing against Starmer, he added: 'I did not hear anything about abusive songs or chants. If it happened, it's of course not acceptable, but I did not hear it.' England captain Harry Kane added: 'It's not one that many will remember and we had good spells but we take the three points and move on. Noni (Madueke) was a constant threat and we need more of that. We have amazing players and we need players who are going to take on players and keep doing it. He played really well. We need to be better, for sure.'
